Easy to beat, throw a charge (button 3) followed by a attack (button 1) to get him low on health.

Watch your opponent for a golden ring graphic (thats him blocking).

Finish off with anything you like... I had 70% health left on my first attempt.

I never made it to the Argetn Valiant, cause he never showed up. i talked to the boy and waited but no one came... what am i doing wrong? plz help

Easy to do, But he runs out of the ring. And if others are doing it makes it hard to keep track of the guy you are supposed to kill. So try and wait a min or so, then have the ring alone. The above hints on how to kill him are right on track.

don't bother trying if you have any kind of lag. i tried, and kept getting 'too close' errors when i was a mile away, and 'too far away' when i was standing on top of him.

Wait for lvl 80 before doing this quest.
I tried at lvl 77 and the health of my mount was significantly lower than at lvl 80.
At 77 I didn't got the challenger below 40% in 4 runs. At 80 I won the challenge with 50% health left on my first attempt.

Good tactic.
I used thrust when the fight began and then charge when he tried to get range. Then thrust again. Of course, I tried to keep my shield up al the time.

Pretty simple quest...and I did it with lag.

I started out with my full sheild up..before I talked to David. Then once he came out, I kept with the shield breaking and then a charge. Kept refilling my shield and kept knocking his and charging until he was done in about 3 or 4 hits

I rarely can get Squire David to talk to me. In over an hour of trying, he talked to me 3 times. I have no idea why he will talk to me on rare occasions and most of the time he won't talk to me to summon an opponent. He will talk to me if I'm not mounted, but obviously he won't summon an opponent when I'm not mounted.

- I am not in a raid.
- I am on the same hawkstrider that is for the other prerequisite quests.
- I do have the quest.
- I picked up a fresh lance from the rack and have it equipped.
- I stack 3 shields.

I have tried all kinds of things to get him to talk to me to summon an opponent; dropping the quest and getting it again, unequipping and equipping a lance, getting new lance and equipping that, getting off and on the hawkstrider, and various combinations of these in various orders. Nothing works consistently.

Is summoning an opponent on a cooldown or timer that limits how often he will summon an opponent? Is there something I'm doing wrong?

For those of you that suck on ice, like I do...

Stack your shield to 3 before you start (obviously). Take two fingers. Put them on keys 1 & 2. Put your other hand on your mouse. Challenge your opponent.

When the fight starts, began rapidly hitting keys 1 & 2 over and over again. Stick to your opponent like glue. Don't give him even an inch to breathe. Follow him everywhere. If you give him any room at all, just make it a few feet to get in the occasional Shield Breaker. When necessary, repair your shield. If he starts to wander too far from the field, just back up a little to lure him back in. Charging is not even necessary.

This probably won't help if you just have latency issues, but if you just suck at jousting it works. I was running around and charging and trying to throw Shield Breakers from halfway across the field like I saw the people who are good at jousting doing and I was losing every fight. When I started sticking to my opponent like glue and spamming Thrust/Shield Breaker, I started winning every fight.

The downside is that it's a bit slow and it'll make your arm ache after a few matches.

so i am doing these dailies so get Champions Seals to buy BoAs. i have completed this quest but it appears no other quest has come up. is this because cata has come out and i am a goblin, this having no faction to talk to?

You know thoughs comments didnt help. So all i did was make a macro of /tar Squire David. and flew around the area then once i targeted him i set him a raid symbol, then i found him'

He is in the ring right next to wear you train shield, charge etc. Small and right after you talk to him, your challenger arrives, just stay in the ring and the challenger will come back ...he is always running away lol. HARD to do .. Now you have to put all the stuff you learned together ugh.

You have trained hard as an aspirant, <name>, and now the time has come to test your mounted combat skills against an experienced opponent.

Equip your lance, then go to the stables outside the pavilion and mount the Sunreaver hawkstrider.

At the Aspirants' Ring on the northern side of the tournament grounds, you'll find a human child called Squire David. He'll ask if you're ready for the fight and call out your opponent.
