Soloed as a 73 Felguard/Siphon Life warlock. Used my Voidwalker to tank, could only have Siphon Life and Curse of Agony up because of he lousy threat-output from the VW. Took me about 7 minutes, just keep Health Funneling and it's a piece of cake. Just watch out so no adds spawn because you're on for a bit of a trouble then.

Geez dark relax. He is just saying his group make up, which happened to just be himself. It gives the player some scope into how difficult this quest is. If someone says "i soloed it as a 77 ret paladin. no real trouble watch out for adds" thats enough info for me to figure out what i have to do for this quest.

Just tried soloing as a lvl75 Combat Rogue, not so well geared (only 4 epics remaining from pre-expansion) and it's an impossible task, at least for me.

Note that you can clear the room before you start killing the 72 elite.
First the group of 3 by the entrance, then the first group of 2, then the second group of 2 and finally the elite, High General Abbendis. You must be very carefull when pulling both groups of 2, or else you'll pull the lvl72 elite.
The lvl80 elite will not be pulled.

She's immune to stuns, so no impact.. Immune to snares... Ow..

Also immune to anything that keeps you alive and not getting smacked on as a mage.

This is one of the few elite quests I've run into in Northrend that cannot be solo'd by a mage. She hits like a mack truck, and has 96100 HP to boot.

Also, the run back is long and unforgiving.

The Quest Kill can be found in the Cathedral, but look to the sky, for there is more than one Church-esque building. The Cathedral is all the way to the back, just along the coast.

Fairly fast respawn rate.
About 2-3 minutes.

A bunch of non-elite mobs spawn in the room when she does, so be prepared.
Definitely do not try to solo this.

Soloed this easily as a lvl 80 Tankadin using only quest and rep gear.

It is worth noting that the Grand Admiral Barean Westwind (the 80 Elite standing next to the target that no one here deemed important enough to mention) will not aggro and can not be attacked, as he is protected by some sort of force field. Once you finish off High General Abbendis, you get this from the Admiral:

The grand admiral studies you a moment through narrowed eyes.

the mob respawn rate is about 3 minutes quite easy quest, as myself being a tank all u realy need is a healer.

The mob is in the Cathedral (coord's are 70,76) or if u dont have them south-west of the temple

Easy solo at-level as a death knight , feral druid, or paladin - just move out of the consecration and play defensive.

Solo'd as lvl 72 SL/SL lock; modest gear, blues and greens (no tier), around 1200 spell power, etc. The key for me here was to not send the fel guard to pull the adds, but to pull them away from the High General myself. If the fel attacked it was death, as the general would agro before her guards were down and it would be very messy very quickly.

After killing the adds, send in the tank; keep up light dots on her and continue to use health funnel. Use soulshatter if you have to to keep agro down, but I found just having 2-3 dots (corruption, curse of agony, siphon life) on her and being patient brings her down before the adds come back.

Well, yes, that is true and I do see your point. On the other hand, however, she's every bit as hard for alliance to defeat and I think that we ought to get equal rewards.

I don't see why the alliance couldn't have gotten a chain of quests as well. We like storylines too =)

I'm going to assume you were in Tier 6 gear when soloing this. For a point of reference, I tried to see how hard she hit at 79 (Resto Druid) and her consecrates and attacks were very hard hitting. The adds in the area are also on a quick respawn rate, so I am not sure how (at 7 minutes long) you were able to avoid them. At level 73, you would surely have aggroed the packs no matter where you were in that cathedral.

Word to the wise, she is not soloable by the majority of players attempting this, unless you are very well geared (Re: Tier 6 at the level or level 80 dungeon blues) She is immune to rooting, so I must imagine she is immune to many other form of CCs as well (Including Fear) The quest rewards are not worth the effort unless you find yourself a good group and are solely doing this for experience and lore.

I soloed this quest (Horde side version) at 74 on my lock, using the same method. She was in BC t4 quality level epics (Frozen Shadoweave and heroic epics mainly). You can easily avoid the respawns by pulling into the chamber before. Gear doesn't matter, since you do not lose health nor does your void. It takes a while, yes, but I also soloed the Scourge of the North as well as every group quest in Howling Fjord, Borean Tundra, Dragon Blight, Grizzly Hills (except for Hour of the Worg (multiple enemies for the final one), and the last Conquest pit(similar reason, but only one was elite...I should have tried it anyways)), Zul'drak (except for the Amphitheater, which I didn't attempt solo) , Sholazar, and Storm Peaks. Do not assume that just because your class cannot do a quest means that others cannot.

I'm not sure how well this build, progressing to this at level 79 (respec at 80; it's only good for leveling, so the final point is unimportant) would work with the change to make Siphon Life passive, but it's an update of the one I used. (Before the change, it was throw 3 dots on everything in sight, and the felguard acted as a 4th...no managing his health because of demonic empathy.)

High General Abbendis is located within the towns - New Hearthglen - Cathedral, the entrance to which is located at: (70.9, 75.6).

Before you can ensue, you must kill three mobs of NPCs within the Cathedral. Two 2-mob groups, and one 3-mob group, all of which can be individually pulled and elminated. She has approximately 96,100 HP and is located at the end of the hall within the Cathedral, at: (71.1, 77.9) alongside Admiral Barean Westwind; Admiral Barean Westwind will not be aggro'ed, merely spectate.

Was able to solo this quest as a restoration druid at level 80 wearing the Overcaster set with +18 stamina on possible pieces from armor kits.

The tactic I used involves staying completely out of tree form.

Keep a rejuvenation up at all times, when you get to around half health start casting regrowth. If your regrowth is already up and you get below 1/3, use nourish to full. If your mana pool is sufficent, use lifebloom as well to avoid nourishing as often.

Damage-wise, I just spammed starfire and kept the moonfire DoT up at all times.

You will need to pop your innervate since it is a long fight, and you will be having to heal your self since she hits kind-of hard since you have low armor. If she's not below or near half health when you use innervate, you will probably want to reset. A mana potion will not hurt either.

Soloed this as an 80 shadow priest. It should be noted that I was entirely in heroic gear and some T7.5, however.

Cast shield on myself, vampiric embrace on the General, and dps'd away. Cast shadowfiend to get a little extra dps and mana return. Recast shield when able.

Easy-peasy, only lost 1/3 health during the fight.

Solo'd as a 73 enhance shaman earlier w/ heirloom shoulders and chest.

Used Fire and Earth elemental totems along with healing stream and windfury. Started the fight with wolves and while charging popped hero. Made sure to purge her Onslaught Judgement or w/e it's called (and whenever she casts it again) and just tried to do max dps. Throw yourself an occasional heal if you need it but the wolves did most of the healing. I made sure to run around and kite her away from her consecration to avoid any extra damage.

She had about 10k hp when the wolves despawned and then I used maelstrom weapon procs to heal myself. This last bit was sketchy as she goes into some sort of enrage and I was doing everything I could to stay alive. Ended up with about 2k hp left after she died. Took me a few tries to do it but was a good challenge and fun to do as well. Good luck!

Soloed as a 73 prot paladin, very easy, and she doesn't hit that hard in plate (17600 armor aprox, dealing about 300 dmg per hit), just be careful when she casts Consecration, move out of the AoE range as fast as u can, that thing does about 300 holy dmg per second, so be careful.

Came back as an 80 cat to get the Idol from this. Mostly ToC 5 gear with a couple blues. Hotted up before I went in, pounced for the bleed, scratched her up and played Arena (run around the pillars) until I got about half health. Barkskin, heal for a bit - she hits pretty hard in caster form - then back into cat to scratch her some more. Definitely kite her around and don't stay in that consecration. She seems to enrage at a low health percentage but I had saved up combo points and used Ferocious Bite so Westwind never even spawned.

Solo'd as 64/2 (Enhance/Elemental) lvl 75 Shammy.....Dropped Earth Elemental, Searing, Mana Spring, and Windfury. Flame Shocked to pull, let Elemental tank and alternated between Stormstrike, Lava Lash, and Lava Burst, and with Windfury and Flametounge (main and off respectively). Popped Ghost Wolves, Heroism, and Shamanistic Rage soon as the fight started. Ol' rocky bit it when she was around 15% health and then it was a DPS race. Lived with about 50% of my own health remaining. Quest/Instance blues available to a lvl 75 equipped.

Solo'd as a 74 (51/14) affliction warlock w/ improved healthfunnel.

Hit a little harder than Bloodpaw, but still pretty easy. Voidwalker tanked and I kept up healthfunnel for the first ~60% just about, throwing up corruption when my pet had a little bit of a threat lead. Soulshattered when both of us were at ~50k threat at from then on kept up UA, corruption, and CoA.

Has a seal with a chance on hit to ignore armor, and at ~20% she enrages. I moved out of consecration at first, but about half way through the fight decided it wasn't a huge deal. Healthfunnel still kept up my pet np, and the healing between siphon life/corruption and fel armor kept me up through it as well.

Gear consisted of heirlooms(staff, dreadmist robe, resil shoulders, 2x eye of the beast)+greens and blues from quests and blues from instances.

used heroism,one healing pot, wolves, fire elemental and shamanistic rage

i was close to dieing few times but managed to save myself with those instant heals from maelstrom weapon
also try to purge her buff also

Soloed as 77 Retribution Paladin in basic greens/blues quest rewards on my first try. Make sure you walk out of her consecration move as it would do unnecessary damage.

Judgement of Light, and regular dps cycle. AoW FoL on every prox and occasionally HoL if health drops too low. I popped divine shield when she got her health to half just so i could give her some extra nuking without taking damage/and refilling mana.

Wasn't so hard but I play on magtheridon so finding a group for alliance is too hard since alliance side is practically dead.

Easily soloable with lvl 73 SL/FG Warlock. No heirlooms, just quest greens and blues. Just kept health funneling the felguard and dotting him with corruption and CoA. Had to use a shoulshatter to reduce aggro.

Solo'd as a lvl75 Retri Paladin in Heirloom Items with the Heirloom Axe, bloody hard fight to do, nearly died near the end but got lucky, used Divine Protection when she was around 35% and nuked her down but cost alot of heals.. GL trying this one. I managed it on first go but it was extreamly close one.

Solo'd as lvl 80 demon warlock with about 1/3 epic gear.
First time I just got out of an instance where I had turned off my felguard's anguish, and of course I forgot to turn it back on before starting the fight.
After a few spells I got all the aggro (naturally) and I was dead before I could figure out what's wrong...
She hits hard on cloth.
Came back (mad as #%@€), turned on Felguard's anguish and it was (almost) a piece of cake. Felguard needed some health funnel, but it was not very hard.
You do not need to pull her from the other elite. He does not attack.
Just clear the room from the other mobs first.

The mobs inside the cathedral pull in groups of three - kill them all before you get to the general. Then with a class that has a crowd control ability (ex. Rogue = Sap) immobilize the higher level elite (not the General). Kill the general but don't do any damage to the cc'd elite. Once the general is dead, the higher level elite just walks out, doesn't attack you, and he says he'll see you later!

Soloable with 74 MM Hunter and 71 Rogue easily without the greatest of gear.

Soloed as a 75 elemental shaman with quest gear and the cloth heirloom pieces. Kept doing damage, healed when needed and moved out of the consecration. Wasn't that hard, but took most of my mana to keep me healed.

Soloed as a 73 feral (only cat) Worgen Druid, with mostly quest greens and a few blues. Just had three stacks of lifebloom on constantly, I only came out of my form to put lifebloom back on. Same as VinSaniT, I found it no more difficult than other 3+ recommended quests. I died the first time, but only because I was healing too much so I didn't get the really nice healing increase from cat form.

Soloed it with a 73 Death Knight without any fancy gear (mostly quest greens and a few dungeon blues; my tanking set). Used blood spec and blood presence, and mostly Heart Strikes and Rune Strikes (and of course Death Strikes for healing). Don't forget Dancing Rune Weapon, it really helps. Glyph of Heart Strike, Glyph of Rune Strike.

Move out of the AoE (Consecration), and you will be fine.

My rotation was far from optimal, I forgot to raise a Ghoul (until the fight was almost over), and I forgot to pop my trinkets. Still, it lasted less than 90 seconds and I did not have to use any health potions (Death Pact only when I was already done; did use Draenei self healing-though). Putting Bone Shield up in advance and waiting for it to cool down makes it even easier.

I'm not so sure if it's possible in anything other than a full tanking setup, at least not at this level and without overpowered gear.

Post shattering holy paladin (level 71) can solo this with only a little trouble.
For other pallies or healers trying to solo her just keep healing and only attack with instant spells as you will be hit for 30-40% of your HP per hit that she deals.

4. While shield is on re-enter shadow form and repeat the process

Soloed as a 74 Arcane Mage in full Lv.70 PvP (Brutal) Gear

1. Pop Mirror images right off the bat.
2. Wait a few seconds for them to grab aggro.
3. Pop Arcane Power and spam AB, don't worry about mana, she will usually die before your mana runs out.
4. If you have enough spell power she should go down before your 3 mirror image "tanks" die. (my crits were hitting for 9-10k).

Soloed as a 73 enhancement shaman, with normal questing gear, Headdress of the First Shaman (stacked with straight agility gems, because the socket bonus isn't worth getting) and a pair of Nifflevar Bearded Axes. Got out spirit wolves, hit greater healing wave whenever Maelstrom came up, moved out of her consecration, and it all worked out easy.

It was a very easy task, kept my health up all the time with word of glory, holy light & judgement and took her down with Exorcism, Holy Shock, Judgement and Crusader strike.

Very doable and easy as level 75 Holy Pal with Brutal Gladiator gear.

Easy solo kill for a priest (72, but I imagine the same for 71 and above), just keep up the dots and mind blasts. Shield yourself and heal yourself with flash heal (she hits you hard, there is not much time for greater heals), and make sure you have the Vampiric Touch dot up, so you gain mana. This way you'll have almost no mana lost after the battle, and you can go straight toward other quests after you've grabbed her head. =)

Solo'd this as a Lv80 Prot Paladin, nearly ran out of time due to repops.

Long and epic battle, though there really wasn't that much danger; she can hit hard when she wants, but if you do it by the numbers and stay out of her consecrate, it really isn't bad.

dont worry bout the 80 elete he is just part of the quest that comes in after you kill her generalship. so just have the tank pull and assist the tank. easy beans. altho i did burn 11k mana on heals .beware she hits hard on a lvl 70 group

Shes in New Hearthglen in a big cathedral-like building at location (71, 76).

There will be three groups of mobs in that room, plus a lvl 80 elite who just sits and watches. (He did not attack me. Of course, I did not attack him either.)

If the three groups are not up, you might want to wait for them to spawn so you don't get adds during the fight. You can pull these groups without worring about agro from the General.

Shes a tough paladin. Uses concecrate and judgement spells. I don't think she heals herself. Basically, a tanks and spank.

My old enemy, High General Abbendis, has come to Northrend.

Somehow she survived the attacks upon Tyr's Hand and brought a small force north. They've established New Hearthglen to the south.

While they could prove useful in fighting the Scourge, Abbendis herself is far too shrewd an opponent to let live. Trust me, if we let them stand, she will be at our throats before the dust settles.

So, we'll deprive them of their leadership and go about our business. Bring me her head as proof.
