The change in 3.1 is depressing. I used this glyph when it increased the range of ice lance by 5 yards because it was so good at getting those pesky drinkers / charging warriors into combat. Now...

It's 100% worthless in PvP at 80 now, since there are obviously no level 81 players.

It's 100% worthless for grinding, since you rarely fight mobs higher level then you.

It's 100% worthless for raiding, since bosses can't be frozen, with the exception of fingers of frost (and raiding mages don't spec that deep in frost anyway if they want to do decent dps).

All in all, another crappy glyph.

An ambitious atempt at improving Frost for PvE and giving validity without over-powering PvP, this glyph unfortunately was almost the entirety of Blizz's attempts at it. Consensus is it is nowhere near enough to bring Frost PvE up to raiding standard.

I'd question the quality of the above poster's statements, however, as this remains an exceptionally powerful glyph to equip while levelling. Unlike Blackholesun, if you're frost spec and not fighting mobs above your level I'd say you're terribly under-performing.

Worthless for raiding? Well technically it is, but not because it's a bad glyph, rather because at this point in time Frost hasn't been revamped enough to compete. The glyph its self is rather exceptional, if quirky. If something is "another crappy glyph", I'd argue it was the previous incarnation, that gave a pathetic 5y range. To a spell which only really works on frozen targets. Now if you're the kind of PvPer to waste a glyph slot on a 5y longer spell to put people in combat, you're sadly in the minority in this case.

After the 3.1 change Glyph of Ice Barrier is a good PVP substitution for this.

Well dude... there is a talent Fingers of Frost that gives 15% any chill spell to count your target as frozen for next 2 spell casts.... so you don't have to actually freeze the target to use ice lance...
Gonna try it at raid/heroics and post laters what i get

A friend of mine just noticed something odd.

It appears that the Glyph of Ice Lance will stop working entirely after a talent-swap; requiring him to apply a new glyph every time after he has switched specs. Relogging fixes nothing, changing specs again does not reactivate it either. Only the application of a new glyph seems to restore its function.

So to every one of you that has a dual-spec and one of them uses this glyph; you may wish to check if you are still doing the x4 or if you too are left with a broken glyph.

Just thought I'd inform you guys...

This glyph will be updated for MoP to provide ice lance with hitting another target.. that with the increase to fingers of frost gets more stacks (was 4, then 3.. will see what it ends up being as time goes on) ...makes it seem that blizzard is trying to make frost more viable in pve.

In Mists of Pandaria this glyph has changed.

OLD: Glyph of Ice Lance - Increases the damage of your Ice Lance spell by 5%.
NEW: Glyph of Ice Lance - Your Ice Lance now hits 1 additional target for 50% damage.
