This series of armor elixirs has always seemed weak. In my opinion there is always a better guardian elixir choice out there.

For people who think these are weak, please check the math at elitistjerks or tankspot. These are not for heroics or farming or grinding or anything except for long duration heavy hitting bosses. The amount of health you will avoid losing by increasing your armor is absolutely stellar when compared to say, the 350 health guardian elixir.

If you are not taking Flask of Stoneblood (which I highly recommend for initial tries where deaths can be more frequent), I would take this elixir, along with the 20 stat one (which scales with talents and kings) or the 50 strength (which is 25 SBV).

If you are not def capped, or wanna swap in gear with more dodge/parry but lower defense, you can always take Elixir of Mighty Defense, as 45 defense rating can be a big help.

One last thing, due to the Effective Health gain from armor, and its symbiosis with health, the Indestructible Potion is 3500 armor for 2 min, which is an incredibly long time and far surpasses a runic healing potion.

Death Knights looking for a DPS-wise beneficial Guardian elixir may find this interesting - 800 armor turns into roughly 22 attack power through Bladed Armor - combine with Elixir of Mighty Strength for a total of ~72 attack power via elixirs.

A Flask of Endless Rage might turn into more Attack power per gold depending on your server echonomy though, not to mention over twice the AP - but then again elixirs are cheap and handy to bring to heroics and such, where a flask would be wasted.

Appears to have a chance to be discovered when using Northrend Alchemy Research, which alchemists can perform once every 7 days. So not all alchemists will be able to make it initially.

Direct upgrade from the old Elixir of Major Defense, and likely to become the guardian elixir of choice for most tanks.

Does this get added to total armour before or after the 450% bonus?

On a side note. This also grants AP.

I was looking for a cool Guardian Elixir for my DPS DK. and found this :) if might not be alot but it grants AP aslong as you have bladed armor.

Now the next thing i tried was using it along with Elixir of mighty strenght and a Indestructible Potion (Link: https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=40093)

All in all: EoP + IP Grants a total of: 119,4AP
Plus the 100AP from EoMS. Which gives a total of: 219,4AP
Now add the 40str/40stam food buff and your looking at a total AP of: 299,4

Not bad imho. :) Considering that the 119,4AP is from Defensive potions/elixirs.

ps: Granted Indestructible Potion only works for 2mins. But whats the CD on Pots? ^^

As of patch 4.01 Elixir of Protection now grants 220 armor for 1 hour, down from the previous 800 armor for 1 hour.
