Just noticed this was changed in latest patch and I much more enjoy the swap to a stacking crit buff. For the record, it used to be an on use effect of 304 AP with a 2min cooldown.

Not sure if it is a bug, but this item will currently proc off of ANYTHING.
Making a bandage, buffing, mounting etc etc.

I read this slightly wrongly. It's not a chance-on-hit to apply a stacking buff to your crit-rating but a chance to enter the 'Wracking Pains' state where every attack increases the crit raiting by 15 for ten seconds. So, when this thing procs you'll see a buff that will increase by 15 for every attack you make during that ten seconds.

The base proc is a 10% chance of melee and ranged attacks. However the stacking buff triggers of all attacks and spells. I noticed this will killing undeads and using exorcism to pull (had the base buff, but no stacks).

Cooldown seems to be somewhat around 40 seconds - 1 minute. Gives approx 6% crit chance on proc at lvl 71

I would highly recommend this for any class that benefits from crit rating. (retri paladins, mutilate rogues, Hunters etc)

Edit: The stackable +15 crit buff also procs of using "Empty mug of Direbew", and likely any other trinket.

I wonder if this procs of my pet attacks also cause the trinket procs every fight I have as a Hunter and is an awesome 5 man instance trinket .I can see keeping this for the procs alone for a long time even at 80 . End game raiders keep in mind this procs all the time so you could be looking at keeping up +5% crit chance nearly the whole fight on bosses .

Picked this up on my Retribution Paladin today. Confirm that it does proc off a lot of things. For instance, Divine Storm will count as four procs, regardless of number of targets present. It even procs off your Flash of Light.

No doubt that it'll get fixed eventually, but in the meantime, it's still a great trinket.

This is, in my opinion, a fantastic trinket! In my own experience, it procs quite often and (if you have the haste/crit gear to support it), you can do a LOT of damage while it lasts. As a Beast Mastery hunter with mostly Stam/Crit/Haste gear, it's obviously important to drop your target quickly...and this will certainly help you do it!

I've been farming for the last few hours in Borean Tundra and as it turns out, it's great for that too. Pop on Aspect of the Viper so you never short of mana, use your pet to gather up a nice grouping, slap Misdirection on him, and just go to town. As soon as it procs, hammer in Multi-shot and Rapid Fire; things die in short order. 5 stacks of Chilled Meat, 2 stacks of Light Feathers, several greens, a Khorium Lockbox, and a ton of vendor trash; pretty good payoff for the time spent.

I got this neat trinket on my lvl 70 Deathknight, it totally rocks! Last night I did Nexus and I crit almost all the time. Even the lvl 74 retri pala had a hard time beating me on the damage meter. As I was in unholy presence I stacked up to 150 crit rating really fast due to the shortened global cooldown.
This trinket is a musthave! <3<3<3

Replace an Hourglass with this. From what I have seen so far it is very nice as a feral druid - the buff stacks up pretty fast and I have notice minimum 3-4% gain in crit chance while on a single mob. I am really excited to get some action in during an instance run.

a full stack of this buff will be giving about 3% crit at lvl 80:

150 / 46(ish) = 3.26%

at lvl 68/70, when u will most likely get this trinket, it will be giving almost 7% crit with a full stack:

150 / 22.1 = 6.78%

thats not even factoring in the static crit on the trinket.

lvl 70: 8.18%
lvl 80: 3.94%

quite a nice trinket even for lvl 80

This can be one of the biggest BS items to ever have used against you as horde. A lvl 74 pally had that and it completely owned me, I had way more AP, Armor, everything then him. He didnt bubble at all during the fight and he didnt heal at all, 1 hit and i went to half health, it had already proced when he was fighting a mob and turned his attention to me. When he hit me he got 2 crits off the bat and then did white dmg to me before i died...it took like 5 hits for him to kill me. I was a 75DK. Blizzard needs to even out everything...

77 Rogue here, I love this trinket, it procs all the time and my crit rating goes from 25% to 29%.

Are there any other trinkets that are higher level like this one?

For those of you trying to compare the value of this trinket to others, using some kind of points system (AEP for rogues, EP for enh shammies, etc), it mainly depends on the speed of your attacks. First thing you should do is just play around with it for a while. Keep a close eye on the Oozing Wounds stack, and try to get an idea of the average time it takes to get to 10 stacks. Rather than timing it, as soon as you hit 10 just glance over at the Wracking Pains buff, and subtract the duration left from 20. For example as an enhancement shammy, I usually hit 10 stacks with 16-17 sec left on the buff. To be conservative I use an estimate of 5 seconds to reach the full 10.

Next, take the amount of time to reach 10 stacks, multiply it by 75, add the remaining time multiplied by 150. Divide the sum by 60, and you have the equivalent passive crit rating value. An example:

Again with my shammy, we'll use the time of 5 seconds to reach 10 stacks.
( 5 x 75 ) + ( 15 x 150 ) = 2625
2625 / 60 = 43.75 equivalent crit rating, plus the original 31, gives the trinket a value of 74.75 crit rating.

Just to show how important fast attacks are for this trinket, I'll do one more quick example. On my hunter, it takes just about the full 20 seconds to reach 10 stacks. The value for him would be:
( 20 x 75 ) + ( 0 x 150) = 1500
1500 / 60 = 25 crit rating, or 56 total crit rating.

Enh shamans, don't pass this trinket up! It procs extremely often, AND works with your spells (since crit rating is now the same stat for both melee and spells). I tend to not heal myself until this is up to 10 stacks. Also works great for proccing elemental devestation.

As a death knight, I usually take about 10seconds to get the 10 stacks... using a 2hander. With the above calculations it gives me like 37 passive crit, and i've decided to use https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=44014 instead. Thoughts :|?

This trinket pairs very nicely with Serrah's Star. When both of these items proc at the same time; which happens often enough to warrant mentioning it; they add 337 points to your crit rating, which is an increase of about 19.5%. For a decently geared DK that means about a 32% crit chance. On a large boss fight, this may happen 10-15 times depending on how much HP the boss has.

For Death Knights this item is great because ANY melee damage, including spell damage, can cause the Oozing Wound effect. For instance if this trinket procs as you are fighting 5-6 enemies, and you use pestilence, each enemy it hits causes the Oozing Wounds to activate. What I normally do when I notice this proc is use Pestilence than follow that with Blood Boil or if I am in cool down, Unholy Blight. That instantly maxes out the Oozing wounds effect and than I follow it up with a death strike, which normally crit's, giving me a 2-5k heal depending on the size of the mob I am fighting. When you only have 13-16k health, getting 2 of those Death Strikes off during these trinket procs can equal almost a 10k heal in a very short amount of time.

Got this on my 71 rogue. It can really speed up fights, since it usually jumps rating up about %9-10, and combined with Slice and Dice you barely need to wait for it to stack and you crit about every 2 strikes (assuming you have decent gear).

Also sort of annoying that it activates off of any combat spell, so I keep getting it off of sap when I'm trying to sneak through a crowd.

this is the best mutilate rogue trinket from borean thundra/howling fjord andyou'll propably keep it a bit int the rest of northrend too.

With fast daggers mutilate(it counts for two stacks) and SnD i get about 15 seconds of 5% more crit wich will gain you back more energy with focused attacks and ofc do x2 more damage.

this trinket is the best for mutilate rogues starting on northrend IMO.

I just did a paid faction change from NE druid to Tauren druid... and guess what I got to keep? It must be an exclusive club - horde toons with Death Knight's Anguish.

How much do you horde peeps want this item? Enough to faction change to alliance, do the quest, and faction change back? :P

I dont know if they added this recently to the horde side but I definatly saw and teamed with a lvl 78 frost Death Knight Blood Elf whom had this trinkit though he had no idea which quest he got it from he really had it. So if anyone can find out where it drops for horde it'd help i'll do my part when my rogues higher to look for it.

Discovered an interesting bit about this trinket.. There's no internal cooldown on stacking the "Oozing wounds" buff. I have this on my hunter and fired a multi shot. 3 arrows, 3 stacks instantly at once, plus another one for the auto-shot that went with it. Great way to get your stacks up quickly if you're a hunter. This trinket is -great- while levelling.

i really dont see why it wouldnt stack, its a trinket, all trinket buffs stack with all spells or talents. its only talents with talents or trinkets with trinkets that can give problems

Also, it's worth noting that this is actually one of very few "fun" trinkets available to melee DPS early on in Northrend, so it's worth using for the novelty factor alone. There are so many bland trinkets with a combination of passive +haste/crit/AP and a triggerable +haste/crit/AP effect around this level.
