The tooltip in-game currently says "Good for only one ride." But this broom works the same as the rare and epic versions; 14 day duration, it will not disappear after one ride.

Just to clarify all these items with a 14 day duration comment means it will last for 14 days while that character is active, if you quit WoW for a year and came back you will still have the item.

The broom is usable more than once, and the 14 day duration does not start counting down until AFTER Hallows End is taken out of the game. I've had mine since HH first showed up and it hasn't lost any duration. Also, I think the duration will count down even if you're logged out.

You pick up a quest from one of the main cities that sends you to Brill, Razor Hill, or some other town I think... The headless horseman will invade those towns and set the place on fire.

There, ou get a quest to help save the village by putting out the fires in town by throwing buckets of water on the blazes. (Pick up the water from the trough by the quest giver) You can also toss the bucket to someone who's closer to form a "Bucket Brigade," but I haven't seen anyone doing this.

After all the fires are out, the Headless Horseman lands and you beat the crap out of him. After he's "dead," he throws his head which turns into a lootable item with fun stuff inside. One is this rickety broom.

I'm probably off in some details since I'm writing from memory, btw.

These items will not count down time while they are in your mailbox or while you are offline. The title should be fixed in the next patch, seems that last Hallow's End or whenever this one was tossed in a patch they wanted it to be one use but then changed their minds.

Bad News for broom owners

According to the Patch 2.3.2 PTR Patch Notes Broom timers will be changed from played time, to Real Time. So no matter what, you'll lose your broom in 14 days when it goes live.

Hey, heres something that stinks, and is fun in different ways. Although, which I just realized while typing this, that the Holly's from christmas require level 40, they can be used on this to make it a 60% mount. I was hoping for a slow reindeer, but oh well. ^^

This is in fact a mount, thus affected by Crusader Aura (20% mounted speed). But.. If one took Mithril Spurs to the boots they'd get a 4% speed increase to this beautys speed, however this isn't anything you should be thrilled about..

Having minor speed-enchant on boots adds 8% to run speed, this mount goes as fast as run speed. So basicly not using this mount and just using a minor speed-enchant on boots is faster unless you have a paladin with you.

Another note too, even if you had Riding Skill-enchant on your gloves, it wouldn't matter. It adds 2% to your mounted speed, thus still being 2% slower if you just had minor speed on boots. Also, the third item you'll get to increase your mounted speed is Carrot on a Stick, but the quest is min. for level 40 - at level 40 you get the regular mount anyways.

Ofcourse this is just a flavor mount, to ego around and hop happily with your turtle, but I thought that I might aswell bring up this useless information that might come useful for some people.

This is great for low level characters who can't ride mounts.

I can picture new players (new to WoW) earning this and being happy. I would be very happy if I got a cool looking magic broom 6 levels after starting to play.

I remember playing on my first character, leveling up riding this mount. It was unique because of its game time duration. However, thats not the case any more. So for those of you wondering, this broom only lasts for the duration of the event, then disappears.

For those who have the Argent Pony Bridle, summon your Squire, mount up on the flying broom, then mount on this broom. You'll be walking, and your squire will be mounted.

Nice bug involving this and the flying version, confirmed as of Hallow's End 2010:

Mount up on this, then while riding it and in a flyable area, mount the flying one. It'll show you standing there, but it'll still have the flying mount buff on as if you were riding it. Now you can fly without a mount, though it shows you as 'swimming' through the air at your highest mount speed.

This item does not appear to be dropping from Cadeau grossièrement emballé during the Hallow's End event in 2011. Since it isn't part of the loot table for Citrouille remplie de butin it appears that it has been quietly removed from the game.

I haven't seen this item this year at all. I did find a similar mount though. The mount I have is an item in your backpack which you can use if you have the riding skill. I found this mount very usefull as it has no 1,5 sec casting time (instant, does not trigger global cooldown). Have not yet confirmed if it is a flying mount too, as the character with the broom is only level 46. I remember getting it from the quest that appears when you defeat the headless horseman (after you put out the fire).

got the broom today, its from the urn you get from the pumping in the center of the road AFTER you stop the headless horseman from burning the town and then kill him when he lands. the broom states in its tooltip "one use only" but i have gotten on and off mine a dozen times, and also i have logged out for a couple hours and back and its still there. it does have a 14 day duration though. it also moves slow and i mean REALLY slow id guess slightly slower than a standard ground mount. as there is a ground mount speed broom that actually dropps off the horseman in the SM event.

Got mine just a few minutes ago. After the Shade of the Horseman attacks Goldshire there will be a big burning pumpkin in the center of Goldshire between the Lion's Pride Inn and the Blacksmith armor place. Right click it. It will ask if you want to smash the pumpkin. Say yes and you will receive something that looks like a jar. Open it to get masks, candy, pumpkin helmets, or the occasional broom. Masks and candy are soulbound when you loot them, but Pumpkin Helmets(Jack 'O Lantern) are not and they don't have a duration either, so you can keep them for the whole year. Brooms aren't soulbound either so you can sell them, and they are NOT one use only. You can use them as many times as you want for 14 days. Not sure if it's 14 days played time or just 14 days real life time. Hope it's 14 days played time though :D

I got a broom yesterday and sold it for 3 gold because i thot it wasnt worth much because i didnt know u could ride it whenever u wanted and get off and back on and all that stuff
It was pretty nice of it to drop the first time for me tho

i sold mine for 10g on the first day. it was my second, and im pretty sure they knew it was 14 days. i dont know if you were in goldshire then but basicaly all of my server was there, and there were a bunch of yells; "whens he comming?" and a bunch of whispers "where'd you get that broom" so id tell them from the pumpkin, but they didnt understand what that ment i guss, so then they wanted to buy one. so i sold my second. and plus 10g isnt THAT much. anyone with an alt can handle it.

Where does this Rickety Magic Broom come from? How do you get it? Well, I guess I'll let the secret out, but it mustn't leave this page! =/

Every four hours in goldshire if your aliiance, (forget where it'd be for horde)a headless horseman spirit sets flames to the inn and fog smothers the land, and the little blacksmith shop across the street. It is YOUR job to accompany the others as you battle to set out the flames using the water barrel near the Costumed Orphan Montron. If you fail, wait another 4 hours you don't get to claim any rewards or move onto the second part.

After the fog has departed from the horseman, he will decide to end you all himself. This is where he comes down and you must 'defeat' him. (He isn't like a elite boss, or nothing of the sort. He falls from the sky and you throw a few smacks while he's on the ground. Or, to be specific, he doesn't do any damage, bascially falls to the ground and drops his pumpkin head.)

Go to the pumpkin (shrine?, I forget what the specific thing is they named it). Click smash the pumkin to claim your rewards. The broom is a fourty percent drop.

Here's what I came up for the time of the Headless Horseman visits.(I'm on an eastern coast server, so we may not be the same. And this is just an approximate list I came up with.)

EDIT- I felt I better throw in again, it comes every four hours. So if my lists above don't relate to you, go to the Orphan Montron, click on her and read what she saws. Towards the bottom of her paragraph, she say rougly ______ hours or minutes till he arrives. Add four hours from his last visit and continue. You should have 6 times, 2 the same, but am or pm.

I sold a Flying Broom for 25g...im level 70 and were desperate to get new sockets xDD to the helmet of the headless horseman ^^ when u click "use" on he helmet you laugh like he does xDD kinda funny. and the rings he dropps aint that bad either tbfh

Check server time by mousing over the Sun/Moon icon attached to your Mini-map. Headless Horseman arrives at Midnight, 4AM, 8AM, Noon, 4PM, 8PM, and Midnight again. Round the clock, server time.

Oh! and the reason why some folks seem to have so many of these brooms to sell, is because they use all of their Alts to loot the Head before it disappears.

You just take all of your unused alternate characters, and put them just inside the entrance to Goldshire Inn. You log there because then you don't have a 20sec wait time to log out.

Then when the Headless Horseman comes and the town defeats him, you smash the head and get the Urn. Don't both to open it yet.. just run into the Inn's entrance and log out. Then log into your next toon. You appear at the entrance, run out, get the urn, run back to Inn entrance, and log out. Rinse and repeat until all of your toons have grabbed the loot. You have a bit of time, because I have two accounts, and I've cycled thru 18 toons before the head disappears.

You don't always get a broom drop, but you do get the pumpkin helmets every time. I have over 100 helmets, and maybe 20 brooms in the bank now. And I can't even take advantage of 3 of the 6 opportunities each day. I just mail all the helmets and brooms to my Bank toon, and save them there.

I might sell them, or save them and use them sometime in the future. The 14 day timer does not start on the broom until you bind it to a character, so you can save them in your bank for months.

If I keep them, and because I have so many, it's as good as a permanent mount for me now. Slow as it is.. it's just for fun anyway!

The brooms are for a laugh, right? If they have a 14 day limit, just get the little slow one, it saves you some gold, you can get a bunch and is all the fun of the other ones!

Remember, the shade of the horseman is not the horseman, hitting him 1st will not get you the better brooms, so when the 300 level 20's in goldshire crowd him, just watch ane loot the pumpkin

I got this when I opened the Crudely Wrapped Gift. Can anyone tell me why it's not working when I click to mount it? It makes the animation and the sound as if I have mounted it, but I don't actually get on the broom. I know it says "It barely works." in the tooltip but is that seriously the reason it isn't mounting? Because I also tried mounting it several times in a row for several minutes and it didn't mount up once lol.
