Uldum (pronounced: /uːl'duːm/), also known as "The Land of the Titans" is an ancient desert located on the southern coast of Kalimdor, surrounded by the Un'Goro Crater in the north, Tanaris Desert in the east and Silithus in the northwest. It is the homeland of stone-cat people known as Tol'vir and is rich with Titan lore. Somewhere in Uldum is a some sort of superweapon.

The third expansion of the game, World of Warcraft: Cataclysm, will add Uldum as a new vast zone south of Un'goro Crater. Its theme is said to have been heavily inspired by Ancient Egypt. The zone will take up the southern coast of Kalimdor which currently is unused space, and a part of the unused exterior Ahn'Qiraj zone. Uldum will feature two new dungeons, Halls of Origination and the Lost City of Tol'vir, inspired by the tombs within the pyramids of Ancient Egypt, as well as entrance to Skywall instances. The grand explorer Brann Bronzebeard will also make a reappearance in this zone as he searches for more answers regarding the Titans' history.

Zone looks astounding, easily going to be one of my most favorite zones in Cataclysm.

Plus it has camels, nothing wrong with camels.

The cat people are known as The Ramkahen.They will be a faction that we players can grind rep with.There ansistors The Tol'vir are practicly the same but have stone skin.The Ramkahen and the Tol"vir are much like the iron dwarfs and the normal dwarfs.

I can't look at the pyramids without seeing the Goa'uld warships from Stargate SG-1, I can't help but think that these AND the portals to the Emerald Dream (Stargates) were inspired by the show.

This zone is so amazing and beautiful. I'm just gonna run around screaming "I AM DESERT CREATURE!"... Dune/Stargate are 2 of my fave sci-fi. And I love ancient egyptian stuff. Not to mention the chances of getting an AQ mount from doing Archaeology here.

With the new phasing system in place, does anyone have links to the quests needed to change the phase?

Also, does herbing/mining require Uldum to be phased, or can a character below lvl 84 gather in this zone without the necessary quests to phase the zone?

Ulduar was a raid

Uldum is a zone

Presumably if there's a 4th titan stronghold, it's an entire continent (Next expansion: Uldrend!)

I am not sure why wowhead lists this zone as 84-85. Most of the quests here are 83 min. Those of you coming from Deepholm trying to get to 84 to be able to get to Twilight Highlands, this is the perfect place. I completed all of Hyjal, enough of Vashj'ir to get the seahorse mount (about a dozen or so quests), almost all of Deepholm, and only had to do a handful of quests here before I hit 84 and went to TH. As a side note, I did complete all of the dungeon quests for BRC, Vortex and Stonecore, which is a decent amount of XP and certainly helped in not needing to do many quests in Uldum. It's not that I do not like this zone, I just found TH to be a lot more interesting, aesthetically and quest-wise. Another side note for those of you trying to decide whether to level here or TH. I have noticed that there are a lot of quests in TH that require you to kill mobs that are already being attacked by NPC's. This means you can tag a lot of them in a short time and let the NPC's burn them down. Even if the enemy is very close to death, just hitting them once will usually give you credit for the kill. As a shadow priest, these quests go extremely fast and this may be something to consider if you are trying to level to 85 as fast as possible. (I am not sure if these kinds of quests exist in Uldum as much as in TH or even at all, as I had only done about a dozen or so quests in Uldum, but I know there are at least a handful of these in TH, and I have only completed 45 quests here so far).

To unlock portal to Uldum:

Do quest from board in Org will take you to Gadgetzan. Do the quest to escort the caravan to Uldum...cutscene will appear and you'll land in starter zone for Uldum. Do the 4 or 5 quests there at the starter place till you get Budd's Plan https://www.wowhead.com/cata/quest=27924. You'll get a key from a guy complete that quest and another cutscene will appear where they will be escaping from the city. After that cutscene you'll end up in Ramkahen... turn it in. Go back to Org and find you're portal :)

This is the most amazing artwork i've seen in wow yet. Very detailed and just beautiful landscape. Special effects like sand coming off the dunes make it epic. It gives you the feel like you are in the scorpion king and Raiders of the lost arc all in one. Superb!

My wife and I really enjoyed questing here (usually questing is a mundane task for us).

Anyone know why the Tol'vir mobs in this zone all seem to drop Abyssal Clams, Fish Scales and Fish Oil quite often? .. In the middle of the desert. Perhaps a snack?

Awesome lore, perfect fit with the old as well as ongoing storyline of the game; and the fact that it's based on my heritage is just the icing on the cake.

Uldum is AWESOME.

The floating structures surrounded by clouds remind me of the City in the Sky from Zelda: Twilight Princess. They scare the @#$% out of me.

Yes, there is a mailbox in Uldum. It's very small and it's the same color as the ground, but it's at coords (55.0, 33.8) in Ramkahen. Looks like a little wooden frame with a mail bag hanging from it. If you walk out of King Phaoris' throne room, it's down the stairs and on the left, next to one of the golden braziers. For some reason it does not show up on tracking.

Edit: Yes, it was fixed in the hotfixes but it always existed before that. It was just annoyingly hard to spot/find :P

Uldum was absolutely awesome!.

Loved 99% of all quests i did there, loved the war between the 2 factions, loved the bit with the Evil German Goblin :) loved the Indiana Jones references, Loved finding the "Jawa Transporter" and doing the 2 quests the Core gives you (killing 1000 Gnomes in a flaming ball of death.. quests dont get much better than that).

What i missed was a Goblin town called Nos Aisley, with a bar with kinda familiar music going on.

Also a couple small buildings with 2 blackened skeletons near it :)

Was the perfect opportunity for those references.. (if they are in Uldum i must `ve missed `m.)

For the above poster that lost the starting quest, go down towards the southern area on the map marked 'lost city of tolvir'. if you don't have that, it's kinda east of center on the southern coast, right in the middle of the river delta down there. should help, same thing happened to me. remember, pick up quests before leaving areas. :)

Uldum is one of the most epic zones in wow. Just because of story line with Harrison Johnes (Indiana Johns) and epic pygmy/goblin quests... I really enjoyed questing here and even a stupid drake detected my invisibility(quest where you have to sabotage) I can't say anything else than "AWESOME"

To get from Uldum to Stormwind fast, fly to Silithus and take the quest "Nethergarde Needs You!" to get a free portal to Blasted Lands, which from there you may fly to the Dark Portal and take the portal to SW. There's a similar quest to the horde.

I'm not sure if you can take the portal after completing the quest, so keep it in your quest log to be sure.

it appears that a 10th archaeology digging site has been put at schnottz's landing. I am running archy and gathermate2 together, and neither of them had that in their database.

EDIT: i found a 11th one at "The Cursed Landing" east of the Halls of Origination. Archy and gathermate didn't have that one in their database either.

The current digsites in Uldum are:

1- Ruins of Khintaset
2- Ruins of Ahmtul
3- Khartut's Tomb
4- Temple of Uldum
5- Orsis
6- Halls of Origination
7- Halls of Origination (just south of the previous one, in front of the temple)
8- Neferset City
9- Ruins of Ammon
10- Schnottz's Landing
11- The Cursed Landing

ok, I have read any post I can find on how to continue/maintain this quest chain, have done the questline that leads to a ball of fire( the drop one), in the middle of trying to get a scarab to drop, but just found harrison jones, which I'm almost positive is where somehow it got bugged. It is VERY hard for me to say what all quests I've done, for I did many of the intro quests, have done the ones in NW cornerish part to the end, but the harrison jones line is locked out for me. He just says, " The hieroglyphs on your tablets indicate that there's a way to get this machine working again.. W just need to figure out how".

How right he is indeed :(

I've looked for the caravan thing that took me in...nothing, the people in Deepholm are hostile to me, though I remember starting a questline with them, but cannot access them anymore.

Never in 5-6 years have I been totally lost, I can always find info here to get me out of whatever jam I'm in, but I haven't a clue what else to do now, any help would be appreciated.

Gm ticket fixed it: There is a barely noticeable ! in the Obelisk of the Stars. It is inside, so therefore dimmed. For many of us having trouble even getting to the Harrison Jones Questline, this will probably be your answer, or at least a first place to check.

Anyone noticed in the Ruins of Ammon at 30, 62 there is a mummified arm that will just randomly reach out of the ground, scratch like it trying to get out then disappear back into the sand? I'll post a screen grab.

After a two year break from WoW I decided to come back and check things out. As I leveled up, I reached Uldum... And I have to throw this out there, it is one of the most beautiful zonez I've ever seen in this game. Also usually I love playing the game while listening to my own music, so I decided to recommend this to all you people out there that love atmosphere in this game:
