OK, incase anyone is a Class A blonde like me...You have to kill the huge fire elemental (Obsidian Slaglord, I think) that you see fighting Malfurion and the other Druids when you first come through the portal. Watch out for the little fire pools he summons under your feet...Those turn into spikes that WILL kill you if you don't keep moving when he's casting that spell.

After you kill the guy, the quest will complete and Malfurion will run off into the little alcove. Cue cutscene.

Nightweaver's Amulet
Pyrelord Greaves

This quest is on a short chain that continues after Calling for Reinforcements. With 8 Mark of the World Tree earned during the initial quest chain, and a maximum of 4 per day available from the first dailies, it will take three days before you can complete that quest, and then this one.

In other words: as early as Thursday, any of us could have one of the items above =)

This is extremely difficult by your self as a healer in average (ie. not epic) gear....I keep running out of mana. It would be much easier if the damn place didnt spawn random mobs that keep attacking you. What I ended up doing was DoT'ing the Obsidian Slaglord and kited, fear'd, and CC'd the mobs that attacked me. That worked.

Attention: All mages.

This is how I did it, after wiping COUNTLESS times.

I ran in, spotted the boss (hard to miss) and, unwilling to die yet ANOTHER time, ran forward, lobbed a frostfire orb in his direction and ran off to the graveyard, figuring I'd save me a trip when the mobs came to find my sorry a**.

When I turned to look, I noticed that the orb was STILL going and firing on the boss. About a second after that, the quest completion message flashed on the screen and all the fighting stopped.

*shakes head* After all the fighting, running and dying? Go figure.

Yet another Cataclysm quest that becomes worlds easier when other people show up. If you're getting owned solo, come back later.

It is possible to find a corner for a quick bite before the next mob comes over to play. But note the word "possible."

Ok im new to this, but im having a lot of problems with the fireland daily achivements. I need Jarod for Fireside chat and he's phased out. I need to complete Through the Gates of Hell for the amulet but I dont see the quest. Ive completed the Filling the Moonwell & Additional Armament quests marks, and I am 2 days out of completing Calling the Anceints. Will Jarod phase back in and will I be able to get the Through the Gates of Hell quest? any suggestions would be greaty appreciated. +)

Tips for hunters as I found my pet did not last long on my first few tries.

Take a fast pet, I used a Spirit Beast when I eventually got through the quest. My Turtle did not last long. :p Any ferocity pet should be ok. Oh and turn off prowl/spirit walk before going in.

Put your pet on passive when the spikes are about to erupt, it will not survive long if it's stuck in one place attacking the elemental. So keep it moving with you. Keep it on passive at all times the first few rounds to get used to the style of the battle until you feel comfortable with it hitting the elemental.

Focus on the random mobs when they pop and keep moving! Make your pet attack them, they'll keep aggro on your toon so the pet will keep moving with you = avoiding the spikes.

I kept Aspect of the Hawk on at all times, you want to get that elite elemental down as quick as possible so the extra damage is useful. If you're having trouble with the speed the spikes are erupting then put on aspect of the cheetah.

Take any additional elixirs/potions that will aid you, the less damage taken the less you have to worry.

The key to this as a hunter is to take your time, getting the elemental down is important but avoiding the spikes is even more vital to completing this quest. Oh and make sure not to stand too close to the portal when right clicking for a new target, you don't want to accidentally go back to Mt Hyjal. I managed to avoid this but quite often my cursor would turn into the cog for the portal so I moved away.

I died as the quest was complete.
Malfurion never appeared in the alcove.
I died several times trying to kill the Staglord another time because the other mobs hit tough, and you have just come back from the dead.

Go out of the portal and then return.
The instance was reset to start the next phase of the dailies.

I lost some gold dieing as many times as I did before trying the portal to reset the phase.

The f**k is this bugged piece of *!@#e?

Entered the portal on my warrior, got instantly disconnected on the other side.
Logged back in and there was some crazy aoe going down, my char was at 30% hp. Ran away from the aoe but kept getting hit by something. Died.

Ran over to where I died, but my corpse was nowhere to be found. Checked the map, corpse was at the portal I came in through. Went over there, hit accept on the ress "Out of range".

Ressed at GY with ress sickness. About 10 seconds after ressing I entered combat, no mob to be seen. Died again.

Ressed, ran away from that entire area. About 150 yards away I enter combat again, still no mob to be seen. Alas this time I saw a mob far off in the distance, by the GY. So I went there, and it turns out that was the mob hitting me. Killed it. 5 seconds later another spawned a mile away, running towards me. This one I couldnt hit no matter how I twisted and turned. Died again.

Ressed, hit HS, logged off.

Great first experience with the new content. I'm assuming Raggy resets at 1%.

This quest doesnt seem to work for me.. Fifth try now. Got the quest, entered the portal, killed the big elemental, but no kill credit. None of the five times, tried to abandon the quest and do it again, but nothing happens. I have five Malfurions in that little cave now.. Just awesome.

Here's a little tip for under-geared disc priests like me. What I did was DOT the main guy, bubble, and run like hell. It took a long-ass time, but it got the job done. The mobs that spawned absolutely WOULD NOT leave me alone, so I had to keep bubbling, renewing, healing, etc. All the while, I just kept my DOTS up on the main guy and used the rest of my precious mana to keep myself alive. Fade worked sometimes, but I didn't count on it. Hope this helps anyone else.

I am having some trouble with this quest and could use some help. I go through the portal on the ridge. I started to fight coming out of the gate, but no matter how long I fight, nothing seems to be happening. Is there some component to this quest that I am missing? How do I actually "complete" it?

Just read two contradicting things about this quest and "Fate of the Runetotem." On Fate of the Runetotem it says that you can only get it after Throught the Gates of Hell. Here someone has posted that you need to complete Runtotem first before completing TGOH. What comes first? How do I complete TGOH?

I had great difficulty with this quest as a Hunter - I kept dying.
However, I eventually came across a method which made this a piece of cake.

Rather than die and have yet another repair bill, I ran out of the portal and got my health back up. I decided to have one last shot at it and re-entered - and noticed that the Elemental's health was still down to the point it was when I had left... so naturally, I just continued attacking till I was at low heath, ran out, restored health, ran back in, continued attacking and so on until he eventually died.

No-one else was there at the time, so I don't know whether this was a bug or to use the notorious Blizzard phrase "working as intended" - but it made what was an impossible solo attempt (for me at any rate) into a stroll in the park.

I would be interested in hearing if anyone else finds this works for them - please let us know :)

For people like me who at times need things to be obvious.
If during the frantic battle against the elemental, when you see that he has died you leave through the portal you will be surprised as I was that you are standing right where the turn in says it should be but there is no one there. Fear not!
Step back through the portal and you will see that no longer is the elemental there fighting and you can turn in Through the Gates of Hell and pick up your first Molten Front dailies.

This is absolutely like the most f$%^&! up quest ever. Completely bugged to the teeth, and thats no joke. OK in ORDER of everything that happened in literal succession:

i go thru portal....screen immediately freezes halfway thru load. disconnected from server. i log in...surprise DEAD.....the graveyard is right there by the portal so im literally 5 feet from where i died (somehow)....so i go over to resurrect...hmmm keeps saying youre too far away and im right over my corpse. SO, sob!...i go back to spirit and take rez sickness...IMMEDIATELY attacked by mobs and feign death. Now im feigned with rez sickness. Ok im gonna lay here while rez sick....the fight is over after a few mins and i see the complete ? ...so i move to come out of feign....and im stuck lying down as if im still feigned. after bout 3 to 4 mins of moving around while still lying down i suddenly stand up....i go to quest giver in the little tunnel for turn in....nothing happens when i click on him for turn in. Ok so i log out again, soon as i log in i see the ? in the cave, im standing there...no one is there...i run out look around...nothing....go back in still nothing...then he appears. FINALLY i turn in this bull%^&* quest. I warn u now, this quest is by far the buggiest bs of a quest wow has made to date, worst ive ever encountered the 4 years ive played wow. If it werent for the importance of the quest id said F#$! t and very happily went on to better things. Absolutely Horrible.

All around the perimeter, there are many places that are not affected by the aoe, though the mobs could still find you. The mobs (at least those attack you) normally come after the aoe. So stay where you are when you are targetted (and don't go after the boss).

Find a spot that is close enough to the boss but safe from the aoe. Move out to attack the boss immediately after the aoe casting bar disappear (but make sure the mob is not targetting at you first). Do not stay too long fighting the boss. Make a run immediately when the casting bar appear again. There is a good chance a mob might be running after you while you retreat, but don't fight it until you get back to the safe spot otherwise the aoe might do you more damage. The boss does not seem to deal much damage.

I have used this strategy successfully for a DK, a warrior and a rogue.

There's always gonna be some gimp trying to do something they're just NOT geared for... that'd be me. It took my poor little trash geared shammy 30 minutes, 3 & 4 lightening bolts at a time, but by golly she got it done.

The trick for me was to zone out every time the Obsidian Monstrosity spawned, heal (if necessary) and zone back in (the Obsidian Monstrosity despawns). Toss a few lightening bolts, run around when the AoE hit, toss a few more... rinse and repeat.

No... I told ya she's gimp... she wasn't capable of killing the spawn AND dodging the AoE without dieing.

Many thanks to the previous poster who mentioned that the Staglord's hit points don't reset if you zone out!
