I have one of these raptors. mine is named Tucker and I got him in the Barrens. the Barrens is dangerus for a Dwarf like me but when I told the other people in the guild that I am a part of that I would really really like a raptor for a pet one of the level 80 guys sid he'd take me to get one from the Barrens. He said I could get one from stranglethorn but I'd have to wait until I was a higher level and that the raptors in the Barrens were the perfect level for me to train since i cant tame raptors that are a higher level then I am. I tamed one and have had him since. i plan to keep him until i can get a rhino. I saw someone in Ironforge with a rhino and it was huge! made Tucker look like a gecko.

shouldn't raptors be cunning? they tie feathers and beads and stuff to themselves and they seem smart before taming, just saying it would be one of the few cool cunning pets

Hey, just to let you know, I am currently a BM hunter at level 69 now, and I dont know about you guys, but my cunning pets do way more dps than ferocity pets now due to the Wolverine Bite cunning pets can now get. In randoms with some buffs, (like kings on me and might on my pet) on a boss i can pull around 1400 dps, and normally around 52-59% of my dps is my pet. I tested out a couple of cunning pets, and the ones that seem to the most damage is the Nether Ray, and its strange because its CD on its ability is 28 seconds. Strangely enough my Sporebat is one of my highest DPS pets, then followed by the Chimaera and then my raptor (which is my backup pet if the boss does alot of damage to pets.)

So I guess since the change on Wolverine Bite, I see cunning pets the #1 on dps again, but ferocity not much behind.

This is one of the best when you BM spec, these pets can serve well even in the dungeons if you keep a faithful pet, i know i had one with me and im a lvl 63 hunter, do the math, i have a pet that tears monsters apart 1 v 1

For those who are curious, their tear armor ability is classified as the same spell as a druid's Faerie fire, so those will not stack, but faerie fire will be refreshed if it is already on the target.

Tear Armor is very useful in parties and raids, but is comparable to and does not stack with Protection 战士s' 破甲攻击, Assassination 潜行者s' 破甲, 德鲁伊s' 精灵之火/精灵之火（野性）, or 猎人s' 蛇s' 腐蚀唾液, so if your group has one of those you can bring a different pet.

The history of the Raptor's special ability:

Patch 3.0.2 (October 14, 2008) Echoes of Doom/Wrath of the Lich King
Savage Rend: Slashes the enemy with the raptor's talons for X damage, and causes the target to bleed for Y damage every 5 sec for 15 seconds. Successful critical strikes with this ability temporarily boost the raptor's damage by 10% for 30 seconds.

Patch 4.0.1 (October 12, 2010) Cataclysm
Renamed Tear Armor: Tears at the enemies armor with the raptor's talons, reducing it by 4%. Stacks up to 3 times. Lasts 30 sec.

Raptors are considered offensive pets.
Their health modifier is 0.95 (Low).
Their armor modifier is 1.03 (Medium).
Their damage modifier is 1.10 (High).
