You remember the
beast
that sits in the cage when you are on your way to Argaloth?
Well, this is him, and he is a new boss in BH, introduced in patch 4.2.
This ravenous demon broke free of its cage and gained access to the western wing of the prison, devouring all of the inmates held there. Occu'thar's gluttony resulted in a body too bloated to escape its environs, effectively turning the prison wing into its new holding cell.
Edit: The cage is empty now. Apparently, he broke free already and is taking a nap after his feast in the western wing.

Assuming
Searing Shadows
casts every 30 seconds like it's duration, there will be a tank switch every 30 seconds. The tank will run into the raid clump after getting
Searing Shadows
and another tank will run to the front of the boss and they will repeat that the whole fight.
To burn down the
Eyes
that spawn on every player before they explode people may need to be grouped up somehow but the
Focused Fire
ability (
a la Kologarn's eye beams except I don't think they move
) makes it hard for the entire raid to be together (
depends on the timing and frequency of the spell
).
So the best thing will probably be to have multiple groups like you do with Argaloth, maybe 3-4 though for 25m and 2-3 for 10m. Each group should be set up to be capable of AoEing somewhat so they can kill the
Eyes
in the group quickly.
Depending on the timing of all the abilities,
Focused Fire
might not happen when the
Eyes
are spawned (
or it may just not happen often enough to warrant not using 1 giant raid stack
) and that way you can just have the entire raid clump into 1 stack and then AoE down the eyes then spread back out and dodge focused fire beams. We'll see!

(Responding to Hanz0, but I'm doing it wrong because it's not in line with his comment and I'm new here.)
I believe you're misreading the
欧库塔尔的毁灭
ability.
After
an Eye
of Occu'thar remains attached to a player for 10 sec, it fully bores into the host and
detonates
with Occu'thar's Destruction,
inflicting 24375 to 25625 Shadow damage on all players.
Read correctly, this ability has the potential to cause up to 256,250 damage to each player in a 10-man raid (640,625 damage in 25-man) if none of the Eyes of Occu'thar are destroyed in 10 seconds. And that's on top of the maximum of 61,500 damage each player would have received from their individual Eyes of Occu'thar in the 10 seconds before the explosion.
With this in mind, it makes sense that it has been identified as a deadly attack. Definitely not something to heal through. I haven't seen anything on Occu'thar's rage timer, so if he doesn't enrage, it may be the perfect time to stop all dps on the boss and burn these guys down fast, since any still around after 10 seconds will cause damage to everyone in the raid.

Just killed the boss on live 25-man with an all-pickup raid. Took us several tries, but given that it was the first time for everyone except one person who did it on PTR, that's not bad.
Using a raid ground marker, we marked a collapse point near the boss. We also marked each tank.
We split up into two sides just like Argaloth, but with everyone
not
stacking on each side's tank to avoid being hit by
Searing Shadows
. Each tank taunted after the other one got hit by it because of the resulting debuff. Non-tanks should spread out to avoid being mass nuked by
Focused Fire
; those near it must run away.
After the first Searing Shadows and several times thereafter, the boss casts Eyes of Occu'thar.
Everyone must stack on the raid marker.
The cast is long so there is absolutely no excuse for not stacking in time.
When the eyes appear,
everyone must kill all orbs within 10 seconds
or the raid will wipe from
Occu'thar's Destruction
. Not doing this is the only real reason for wiping; other than Focused Fire, which is easy to avoid, there is no raid damage.
After all orbs die, everyone spreads out again.
Steps 3 and 4 are key. No one can cheat by staying on the boss while any eyes are alive. Everyone switches to eyes = Win.

This is the strategy used for the 10 man
Baradin Hold
boss
Occu'thar
by Thejuicebox.
Long Version first, TL:DR version at the bottom.
Long Version
:
For this fight there wasn't anything special for group comp, other than it was a class run.
Tanks
: Death Knight, Warrior.
Healers
: Paladin, Priest (Discipline).
DPS
: Mage (Arcane), Hunter, Druid (Balance), Rogue, Shaman (Enhance), Warlock (Affliction).
Phase 1
:
The fight is pretty straightforward. You'll be tank swapping (if needed) after the
Searing Shadows
breath which increases the shadow damage taken by whomever is hit by the frontal cone attack by 100%.
Ideally this should only be one of your tanks.
There's 2
Focused Fires
before the add phase.
Focused Fires
is a retard check (Do not stand in fire). It'll pick a random raid member (aside from the tank), and put 2 purple laser beams from the boss to the player, dropping a white/purple cloud on the ground with fire. The AOE is about 15-20 yards in diameter. It's simple, you get targeted, you move the hell out.
Because of this,
it's imperative that you have your group spread out for these.
Phase 2
:
This is the adds phase. As soon as
Occu'thar
begins to cast
Gaze of Occu'thar
, your group will need to stack.
Stacking
: We put down 3 raid world markers. 1 on the center grate, then 1 on either side of it about 25 yards away. "Well why the additional 2 marks?" This is because when it goes back to phase 1, there will be 3
Focused Fires
, and a good chance it may get on the center grate marker.
You'll be stacking in the middle, then to one of the sides for the next phase, then back to the middle.
It's the
Heigan
dance
all over again.
Adds
: 1
Gaze of Occu'thar
will spawn per raid member (not on pets, mirrors, shadowy apparitions, etc..). It will then hump each person's neck, doing an eye beam. This eye beam will do roughly 50,000 damage (before resists), then if not killed will explode sending what looks like death coils hitting every raid member for 26,000 damage (before resists). This means that if you let all 10 live, that's 500,000 damage to the entire raid over 10 seconds, then another 260,000 damage right afterwards. Starts to add up real fast.
This means you have 10 seconds to aoe all the adds down and spread, then finish any leftovers.
A NOTE FOR THOSE TRYING TO GIB THE FIGHT
: Invis, ice block, bubble, cloak / vanish, none of these appeared to work.
You will get an add
. (Update/Edit: May be a current glitch, but Hunters using Feign Death after getting an add have been having their eyes attacking them disappear. Drop your traps on stack point and back out to FD and attack away.)
Update: Ran a few groups on Bardin Hold 10 man this week, and have been finding Feign Death to be unreliable. May still be working, or may be fixed. Use at your own risk (and at the risk of your possibly not capable healers).
Whatdo?
: Stack. AOE like your life depended on it, because it does. Your tanks do not need to stack for this, so don't worry if 1 or 2 live, just kill them right after spreading.
A good method here is to use raid damage reducers, and/or personal cool downs.
Raid sac
,
Barrier
,
spirit link
, whatever you've got (only 1 though, you'll have multiple add phases).
If your dps is a bit low, you'll be spreading while aoeing the last 10% of their hp down. Otherwise you'll have plenty of time to down them, then spread.
Note: Crack Rocks (
Healthstones
), and personal cool downs could mean the difference between a wipe and a loot pinata if you get a
Focused Fire
on the stack point and/or multiple adds are still up.
Phase 3
: is Phase 1 again, but it starts off with a
Focused Fire
, and then it's back into the 2
Focused Fires
,
adds
,
focus
.
Use
Bloodlust
,
Heroism
,
Time Warp
at roughly execution range (or 30% ish).
TL:DR Version:
Set 3 raid markers. Middle, left, right, about 20 yards apart.
Alternate stack points for
add phase
Middle, Left, Middle, Right, repeat.
Don't stand in front of boss (unless tank), or stand in fire.
Engage boss, tank swap on
Searing Shadows
, everyone else spread.
2
Focused Fires
, then
Add Phase
(Stack and aoe). Spread when
adds
dead, 3
Focused Fires
, then
add phase
. Repeats 3
Focused Fires
, then
adds
again.
TW
/
BL
/
Heroism
at 30% or less.
?
Rez
and distribute loot.

Has anyone else noticed that if you Feign Death after and eye is on you that it will despawn? So far i have had it happen twice. And since hunters cant kill their own add because of range it seems like an effective way of handling an add on a hunter.

Has anyone determined if the eyes can trigger an explosive trap, or are hunters limited to multi-shot for AOE?

Downed Occu'thar this morning on our 3rd try as a PUG.
Pretty straight forward fight. Very easy for tanks.
Phase1: Tanks swap when debuffed with Searing Shadow, DPS/Healers spread out. If eye focuses on you, move.
Phase2: Everyone (except active tank) stack and AoE down eyes. Must be done within 10s or players wipe.
Phase3: Same as Ph1, but more eye focusing.
Rinse and repeat.
@Tanks: Tank stands alone away from group, when Searing Shadow debuff is cast on you, run back to group and other tank takes over.
GLHF
EDIT: The only DPS race is during the 10s of adds. Similar to VoA's 2nd boss, no enrage timer on the boss, but rather on the adds.
Tanks will love this fight. Simple swapping and aggro'ing all the time. I was bear tank, with pala tank swap-buddy. No special gear. 130k unbuffed health, but only took 630k dmg over all. (I've only tanked Argaloth and 5-man's. No fancy gear required.)

There doesn't seem to be an achievement for killing him. I guess Blizzard finally realized that it's almost impossible to get in a PUG for these bosses if you didn't get the achievement the first week.

Did a guildrun to get this down today, the tactic we used had 4 markers and the boss was pulled into the middle of the room, then turned 90 degrees every time he used Focused Fire.
Our raid was made up of 2 tanks, 3 healers and 5 DPS.
We started by putting up the
4 markers
in a circle around the centre grates. The entire tactic is based on these.
When we pulled, we had everyone stand on the marker closest to the entrance, and when Immol'thar was in range, the tank would run through him and stand on the opposite marker.
Whenever Immol'thar cast Focused Fire we would
move, clockwise, to the next marker.
The tank would also do this, but on the opposite side.
When the adds spawned, they were killed by AoE fairly simply.
This tactic should work for anyone, as long as people move out of the Focused Fire fast enough, and the tanks switch when one of them gets the debuff.

Simpler Strat for Occu'thar:
Have the tanks get their spots, and then have EVERYONE else stack up in melee range, on the opposite side of the boss from the tanks.
When he casts focus fire, move to the left (or right) as a group, tanks shift around too. This is *just* like the Theralion phase of V&T with the Fabulous Flames.
This nullifies the group up mechanic (as everyone is already grouped and people can just use their aoe on Occu'thar), allows healers to use aoe heals, and keeps everything neat and clean, no dps loss when moving.
(One shot in pugs with this.)

For our group, we ended up having everyone spread out and we only stacked for Eyes. Then we AOE'd and then split up again. It was so easy doing it this way rather than relying on everyone to move together and having EVERYONE take damage from his AOE move. Only 1 person would take damage and we would only have to rely on 1 person moving rather than the entire raid. The spread out method is much better and much safer.

Hunter tip: you can't shoot your own Eye, so make sure to target another person's. Back up a bit out of the swarm of people so you can Multi-shot. Explosive Trap will also trigger, so make sure to use that (Survival Hunters, watch that you don't put Black Arrow on boss so that Explosive Trap will be on C/D when adds come).

Hunters: If you FD, the eye attacking you will disappear. Which lets you just attack the other ones.

How I did it:
Mark a collapse point in the middle of the room. Mark tank positions on left and right.
Tanks blow cooldowns and swap on breath.
Everyone else, spread out. Don't stand on the collapse point, as you don't want fire there.
When he
starts
to summon the eyes, everyone but the current tank and hunters run to the collapse point. (Hunters feign death to dispel the eye.) Start AoE before the eyes come. Spread out again when they're dead.
That's it. Works great, no dance to learn, and very little raid damage. You can two-heal it this way on 10-man.

unconfirmed, but when a hunter uses feign death when they have an eye on them, the eye will dissappear. this happened to me today when i fought him for the first time, but it may just be a bug/glitch.

DKs are really useful on this boss to aoe down eyes fast.
Only one ground mark needs to be placed on the ground to let MT starts the fight. The best place is at the right side of the room against the wall ( parallels to the boss ).
Let OT work with MT on their swapping. Raid master should give one of the healers a mark on its head.
Once pulling, all dps and healers run toward and spread out around the boss's tail. Two tanks will make sure the boss doesn't face the raid.
As soon as the boss starts casting the eyes thingy, everyone should stack with the marked healer except tanks ( unless one of the tanks has enough time before the next firebreath ) and aoe down eyes fast. Healers can use aoe healing while stacking, otherwise save your mana.
The whole fight won't be needing too much big single target healing, so use small heals or multi-target healing such as chain heal (if you run out of focus fire ASAP and dps down eyes properly).
Raid members can use heroism or time warp when the boss is down to 50%.
Fun raiding!

There are basically two ways to handle focus fire and transition into positioning for the eyes phase. You can either spread the raid out and make it such that only one or two people ever move out of focus fire, then collapse when Occu'thar starts casting the eyes. Alternatively you can keep everyone stacked, pick a direction to always strafe around in when focus fire hits, and you'll be stacked when the eyes come out already.
Roughly, here are the pros and cons of each way:
Spread out for focus fire
pros:
Less damage from focus fire.
Constant stack point. No guessing where you'll end up, so you can mark it beforehand. The off-tank will appreciate this.
Cons:
Loss of DPS running to stack up while Occu'thar is casting the eyes, and then again when spreading back out.
If someone at the stack point gets focus fire, you're going to have to scramble to decide on a new point and get everyone there instead. To avoid this, obviously have no one stand at the pre-arranged stack point. The problem with that, however, is that you probably want the stack point at a fairly central location, so you're sacrificing a lot of good space to work on the boss in.
Stack and move in unison
pros:
The stack point can't possibly have a pre-dropped focus fire on it, since the stack point is wherever the raid happens to be to avoid focus fire in the first place.
No loss of DPS running to stack point while Occu'thar is casting. Again, by definition everyone's already there.
Cons:
Much more damage from focus fire is unavoidable. If you're targeted by it, it's impossible to move out of it before you take a bit of damage. It's trivial damage when one or two people take one or two ticks well before an eye phase. It's much less trivial when the entire raid takes one or two ticks right before an eye phase.

The most absolute worst raid boss imaginable. I have been trying for two weeks 24/7 nonstop looking for a raid for this and just this week alone I have only found six raids. Joined them and did nothing but wipe. I'm still LFG at this moment but noone seems at all interested in downing this boss. I say good luck even finding a group for this let alone beating him. And if you want proof just come to Smolderthorn and watch trade chat.

For those curious, going through the potential loot drops, approximately 75% of the loot is PvP, which of course means the chances of one of the 2 pieces of loot that drop in 10 man is, well, pretty crappy. Convert to a 25 man if you have the chance I'd say. Anyone else think they added too many possible PvP pieces?

Focused Fire works like Magmaw's Pillar of Flame in that it will always prefer a player at range. However, the players have to stack very close to the boss. Stack the raid between his back legs.

The eyes are cast on an interval just longer than twice the cooldown of Black Arrow. You can use Black Arrow immediately, and instead of using it the next time, save it for Explosive Trap. The following Black Arrow cooldown you can use as a shot, and then alternate... BA, ExpTrap, BA, Exptrap, ...
n.b.
This was supposed to be a "reply" to another entry, but it doesn't show it that way..... not sure why.

I didn't see anyone mention this.
It is possible to control where Focused Fire is cast, and the same strategy originally came from the Magmaw fight in BWD.
You can have both tanks take a respective corner, but they both have to be deep inside his hitbox.
With the exception of 1 ranged dps. all the dps and healers will need to stack tightly together in his hit box.
Usually, a hunter is choice to stay out because of the 5 yard min range.
As long as the group stays tightly stacked, the only person who will be targeted by focused fire, is the one staying out at range. The ranged can strafe back and forth across the room as they are bait for the beam, and since the rest of the group is tightly stacked, no one will need to run to a spot to dps the eyes.
I have used this strategy many times with success. As long as it is correctly executed, it is guaranteed to work.
