Just stay on the final platform in the upper level, he'll come back eventually.

Not that Glop is really that hard, but dropping a magma totem as a shaman (or any other constant aoe damage) makes this whole encounter a breeze.

The shroom-master himself...
After skipping this quest to do the zone and later hitting 85, I decided to return to the unfinished quest that required me to kill him.

As I approached the cavern, I heard the eir-piercing scream: "WHY YOU MUST COME HERE? MY CAVE! MINE! ME NO HURT YOUR CAVE!" At that moment I knew what must be done.

I entered the caverns and dealt with the fungalmancer. It was an epic fight, but I was indeed victorious. Then I arrived to the Throne of Therazane, only to realize that Glop had the audacity to name his secret child and successor Glop as well.
And that is how the history goes!

TL;DR: We are all slaughtering infinite generations of Glop.

If your timing is right this dudes cave is an awesome place to mine. I did not have the quest and he did not attack me, so I was able to just run by him. Avoid the mushrooms and there is no other mobs to attack in the whole place. Took about 2 min to run around and I picked up 15 obsidium, 17 elementium, 5 volatile air, 6 earth, and 1 fire.

Fungalmancer Glop is in Fungal Deep, a cave located in Verlok Stand. If you don't have coords, it's just below the "TA" of "Verlok Stand" on your minimap. Look for orange lights.
