After the Shattering, this wolf now changes into that blue ghostly wolf form when low on health. HOWEVER, sadly for hunters, taming him this way just turns him back to a regular white wolf :(

I mean, is it somehow possible to tame him on the transform and let him retain his ghostly look?

You can actually tame it and keep it's ghost form using the pet abandon macro spamming method used for the oil stained wolf in borean tundra, I've done so myself ^_^.

I really was surprised when I logged out and logged in, cause on the login screen he was white and when I logged in he was ghost wolf when I called him.

Can confirm that this wolf will not retain his ghost wolf appearance with the above macro method. Spent half an hour trying to achieve it :(
If anyone has any info on another way please let us know :D
Would be awesome to get the affect without having to wait til lvl 85 for Karoma and being BM!

I have this Doggy as Pet and it`s quite cool. The runspeed is o.k. and the attack's 1.3 . Gets "Best friend" quite soon, if you kill green or yellow beasts. I killed a Pala 2 lvls above mine with him, although he attacked me.

There are no pets with Attack SPeeds below 2.0 now unless you go Beast Mastery. This wolf is my favorite wolf skin even though they took away his awesome attack speed.

if u look at the stats under "Pets" tab u will find that they are a very balanced pet. i have a boar atm (gotta love charge) but he doesnt do quite enough damage -10% damage actually. wolfs damage was left blank and so was the health part so im guesss blank means 0 translation- balanced but armor is at +5% :) op.
bite, dash, and furious bite ftw. omw to tame one right now!

Mine is now level 60 and it is a BIG puppy with a BIG reputation amongst my guild mates. If it is any testimony as to how good he is, he gets fan mail (meat) in the mail.

Trained abilities on mine are Growl/Furious Howl/Bite/Dash. Armor and health is very decent and damage is respectable.

My huntress is marksmanship spec'd so the wolf does not recieve any of the beast mastery bonuses.

PvE - superb as a hunting pet, holds aggro well and it reacts very quickly. I can go AFK in the wildeness and just leave him on guard confident that he will protect us should something wander into our camp (and he's done this many times). He can hold down Ungoro Tyrant Devilsaurs without need for a heal.

PvP - you have got to love Dash. Almost all of my PvP fights are outside of the arenas and battlegrounds. Don't try to run from him - the biggest mistake you can make. Only one horde mage ever got away from him - he blinked all the way from Uther's tomb through the center of Andorhal and I had to pull back the wolf to avoid provoking that mob.

Instances - he always serve as an off tank and I keep him close to me at all times (on passive). He is superb at intercepting mobs that get past the tanks to run at the casters. The dash puts him on the mob fast and he grabs aggro very quickly. And if the tanks are being overwhelmed, he gets right in there really quickly to take pressure off them.

I had mine since I was level 28 - he has been with me for 32 levels. You do not need any testimony other than that to serve as indication as to how good a pet this type of wolf makes..

They also look good, are well animated and their flea scratching/howling animations are nice extra touches.

I has tamed it. Called it SilverSnout =). At lvl 34 i bringed it to Stable Master, and tamed a cute Stranglethorn Tiger (for Dash). Now im 45 and lvling up my wolf.

I trained Ghostpaw Alpha this evening as a lvl 27 Dwarf Hunter without an issue. Went pretty smoothly. He had only taken down less than a quarter of my hit points. Good abilities. I think he's the new main... Now to come up with a name...

I got a Ghostpaw Alpha this evening, my friend got a Black Ravager Mastiff (black wolf) and the two are like family!
Her mastiff seems really wise and old, whereas mine is like a little pup, hence the name

I LOVE this dog - he sit, he scratches, he howls, everything, easy to find...
not SOOO easy to feed, only eats meat, but, thats no problem really.

I reccomend him to any of the high enough level -
if not, there are level 19 dogs LIKE the ghostpaw alpha...
Just as cute :)

While I was taming this pet he appeared to hit almost as fast as The Rake. I believe he has a fast DPS rate. Maybe 1.2 to 1.5 range.

As far as I can tell, This wolf is the same as Mist Howler, except that he's easier to tame. His DPS is equal to Humar the Pridelord, and as I tamed him just for Bite Rank 4, I though "Wait... this guy is pretty nifty..." And so I kept him. Very Decent all around, and a better tank than the Cat. Of all the wolves out there (sans Slavering Worg, who has a 1.2 attack speed, BUT looks like a headless chicken when it walks) The Ghostpaw Alpha is a definite winner. Give him a shot, folks! You'll love him! ^_~
