Special Abilities
Guard-fest – Reaver, Heathen, and Sharpshooter guards will come pouring down from the North to help their lord.
Blade Dance – Kargath will begin bouncing around his room cleaving randomly everywhere for physical damage.
Strategy
Before we get into this encounter the first thing we need to do is double check that no extra Assassins are lurking around.
Now all but the tank will be on the stairs in front of Kargath’s room, even rogues will be outside his room, we want to range dps down Kargath. As soon as Kargath is agro’ed, non elite Reavers, Heathens and Sharpshooters will attack us from behind with the occasional Assassin. Focus fire should flip between the adds from behind and Kargath, we do not want the adds to get out of control or they will overrun us, but we do not need to focus on them completely either or the fight will take forever. Best way to do this is if there are 3 or more non elites wipe them out then back focus on Kargath or if an Assassin attacks all damage should be redirected to him.
As for Kargath he only has 1 special ability but it is nasty, the majority of the time he will not hit anyone aside from the tank during his Blade Dance unless someone is too far in. Healing through this fight is rather relaxed, as long as the adds are under control and no one besides the tank is too close to Kargath not a lot of damage is taken.

Just adding to the post above.
Special ability:
Sweeping strikes. if you keep detect magic on him its easy to avoid.
Changes. When aggroed Assasins spawn outside of his room so its important that you DO NOT have anyone outside the room. 3-4assasins will jump anyone outside the room.
Strat: 1 dps handleling adds + occasional ranged helped if they get overwhelmed. tank in the middle, 1 person per corner during blade dance.

As stated above by Lithic and Kaladis about his abilities its also all i've seen however there is a way you can reduce damage even more.
Strategy: position tank in the middle of the room. the rest of the group stays on the stair-ish bridge leading to boss's circle. When he jumps around room he will go down to the entrance usually 1 time and hit the group, maybe 10 percent hp off of 2 members, and the rest of his movements will only hit tank for nearly nothing. We had no melee dps on boss unsure if sweeping strikes will hit targets behind him like on other bosses in game, however I would suggest using melee dps on adds such as second warrior or rogue rather than a caster, and use range on boss, warlocks would work though too with pet control but not hunters because of the assassins. Boss should go down fast and you wont have to worry about healing anyone but the tank much besides a few spot heals on add killer.

Me and 4 guild mates just took him down for the first time. The way we did it was simple. First group makeup,
Warrior (MT)
Priest
Druid
2 Mages
We positioned a mage and a druid at the ramp. Druid was in cat form, primary job to take out the adds, with one mage that helps as need be, then dpses on Kargath.
In the southeastern corner of the arena, the priest was healing. Able to hit everyone from there as long as the ramp people backed up after a blade storm.
Second mage was in the northeast corner of the arena dpsing the whole time. With me in the middle tanking.
With this setup, if kargath did the blade storm it didnt hit everyone at once, and after a blade storm people that needed heals can get them. Worked wonders.

His ammount of Health seems to be off by about 75k, he should have about 230,000 life.

Do NOT fight on the stairs. The damage from the his Blade Dance is nothing compared to the pain that the Assassins cause that you will pick up if you try to stay outside his arena.
Everyone run in with the tank and spread out...his cleave only hits single targets for about 1k or so, easy to heal through, and only the non-elites actually run into the arena itself.

Ideally, you will have a frost mage with you. He can just round up the adds after you get a few (5 or so) and then AE them down.

Another way of doing this if your healer can handle it, is to have the tank round up all the adds and just heal through it. I don't know relatively how geared our Warr was, and maybe it's not quite as possible without Retribution aura (or maybe even thorns) for additional add aggro. However, I was able to flash of light heal through the entire thing. Until the tank was scatter shot at 2%, which is a valid reason to not do this, even if we still downed him.
Have people bandage after Blade Dance. It is light healing otherwise on the tank.

We actually did this w/ 2 rogues and a elemental shaman. Couldn't contain the adds any other way than the 2 rogues taking them out and letting the shaman dps the whole thing. Worked out really well, rogues didn't even really do any dps on Kargath.

Ok my Group went in there (DPSadin, Holy Priest, Warrior, Rogue, and me the mage). We tried having the DPSadin take the adds but it was not working. We then tried having the rogue do it and it worked out well. The priest almost ran OOM but we got him down.

This fight is cake if done right, and if your healer wears more then cloth. We had tank start tanking him at the bridge, rest of group spread out in the arena (2 frost mages and a plate rogue), pally in the middle. All DPS on Warchief until an add spawns, then all but tank DPS's the add down, they go down fast, then back to him. His Blade dance is annoying, but pretty easy to heal through, it's the adds that will get you if you get too many. The shooter adds are most annoying as they will scattershot, and its bad if they ss the healer at an inopportune time. This draws the fight out a little, but mana was good and paladin had to drink 1 pot, and it was very simple fight.

Downed him for the first time last night after like 4 wipes. Finally changed up strategy and got a strat that worked. We had the Warrior run in and tank him on the far end of the platform, just within shot range and heal range, while the rest of the group stayed on the stairs. I DPSed with my hunter while the priest was next to me on the edge of the stairs healing the tank and the 2 others that were DPSing the adds. We never saw any elite adds, they were all non elites, and they went down very quickly. The battle took a while this way, maybe 5 minutes, but the Blade Storm only hit the tank and none of us even came close to dying. I had my hunter pet on stay on the stairs and aggressive, so he assisted with the adds as they came up. Our group was made up of the following:
70 Warrior
70 Hunter
70 Priest
70 Rogue
67 Paladin

Our group (70 Warlock, 70 Druid, 70 Warrior, 70 Healadin, 70 Hunter) tried the "stairs" tactic with little success. We even subbed a Rogue for the Balance Druid and, although we had an easier time with the adds, we still wiped simply due to the healer being OOM as a result of Kargath repeatedly doing his Blade Dance inside our group on the stairs.
From the healer's standpoint, Kargath's damage output was low save for when he began cleaving the group. Healing through 2-3 cleaves in a narrow spot (stairs) plus add attacks ultimately ran him out of mana. Your group has to find a sweet spot when splitting DPS between the adds and Kargath, otherwise this fight will last forever. That, or don't clump the group up on the stairs to limit the effectiveness of his cleave.

I finally put together a group to down this bum.
70 lock
70 holy priest
70 paladin
70 warrior
70 shadow priest
DPS is key. Add control is also important, but you only need to control them long enough to burn them down. The lock's DoTs allow him to multitask between the boss and adds, and the priest's prayer of mending took the bite out of Kargath's cleaving spree. HoTs helped between cleaves.
I'm not sure a holy pally could heal through this fight without going OOM, given that all they have are direct heals.

I just did this for the first time, and it's actually a lot easier to have everyone in a corner of the room. We had two people (hunter and a warlock) that were in the corners closest to the stairs and they'd kill the adds, and we had the our healer (shaman) and other dps (shadow priest) in the corner opposite him, and I tanked in the center.
Not sure if I imagined it, but it seemed there were less adds this way. Plus, the Blade Dance didn't hurt anyone as badly as the "stairs" tactic.

We just downed him today and as some people have said, DPS is the key.
My first run we kept wiping because our DPS was too poor. Second time around we had plenty and took him down relatively easy, even when I had a 10 second lag spike.
Didn't drop the stuff I wanted though ;_;

In this party setup (Normal difficulty):
Rogue, Enhancement shaman, Discipline(i think, the most left tree) mage, protection tank (me) and a resto druid.
We combined the much used stairs strategy because we didn't like the idea of the whole party getting cleaved several times at once.
Positions:
- Me tanking in the middle.
- Rogue on the stairs to deal with adds
- Druid in the south east corner
- Mage in the North east corner
- Shaman in the south west corner shooting at the boss and helping with adds occasionally (obviously spell damage gear is helpful here)
Tips:
- The magic amplifier buff is useful for improved healing as there is no magic damage in the fight.
- I don't know if i'm just not good enough at using Intervene, but every time Kargath used his charge stuff, i Intervened on the healer to prevet it taking too much damage (Kargath switches target so quickly it's impossible to get the right target anyway).
Other stuff:
We haven't tried it yet, but i speculate that we should have had the healer switch position with the mage so the adds would come to the mage or shaman if the rogue missed them.
This method isn't extremely fast, but it proved extremely secure for me and my group. Hope all this benefits someone else.

This guy is super annoying and awful to fight if you have a lot of melee DPS due to the blade dance.
1. Kargath doesn't really dump aggro so he'll be on a decent tank 100% of the time he isn't using blade dance. His melee damage really isn't that impressive.
2. Unfortunately non-elite adds pour into the area at a steady clip. For most groups and pugs you need to put a melee DPS character on the stairs strictly to take care of these. They're weak but they pile up and can do annoying things like scattershot. Try to avoid spending a lot of time on the stairs or floor in front of the stairs because this tends to bring assassins, which are elite.
3. Everyone needs to stay the hell away from eachother. This is a problem if you have a lot of Melee DPS in your group because everyone will be clustered around the tank. This is bad because of...
4. Kargath's one skill: Blade Dance. He basically takes off and charges randomly from party member to party member VERY VERY quickly, delivering a cleave for about 1-1.5k each charge. He hits about 5-7 targets from what I can see. It's not a huge amount of damage but if everyone's standing together he can almost instantly butcher clothies. He doesn't dump aggro during this so if you're tanking, you'd be better off just standing still so you don't accidentally bring a cleave down on your party members. Unless the tank barely had aggro on him Kargath will dutifully go back to pummeling the tank after his dance.
That's it. Adds come, and he does his blade dance regularly. This is a pure DPS check. If you don't have enough DPS to keep the adds down and kill Kargath before the healers hit empty even when he's only hitting one person per charge in his Blade Dance, you ain't beating this fight. If it's close you could probably fear the adds at 10-15% and just smoke him down, but if your DPS isn't on the ball you're going to see a lot of wipes at ~20%.

Odd; our group didn't get any adds, or they were so little trouble that my rogue didn't even notice. It was a very simple tank and spank, the blade dancing was no trouble for our healer.
All 70s:
Rogue (me. combat maces FTW)
Druid (bear tank, did an insanely good job)
Hunter (ZOMG alli hunter who knows how to kite?)
Shammy (She got a nice pair of shoulders off the previous boss)
Priest (did an excellent job too)
No trouble whatsoever.

This encounter can be VERY frustrating if you dont have someone to put DoT's on the adds.
70 warrior (tank), 70 rogue (me), 70 hunter, 70 holy priest, 70 frost mage
All 3 of us tried a turn on taking care of the adds but the tank would always die and we'd wipe, either due to the priest having too many people to heal, adds overwhelming us and either causing us to not sustain max DPS on him or running the priest OOM. We got him down to 12% twice but we gave up when party members ran out of time and durability. Didn't have a chance to try the tank-grabs-everyone method.
I've cleared it before though. Was wearing his Demonblood fist :p

A little tanking tip for prot warriors (non-heroic & heroic).
Build up some rage (bloodrage) before entering the platform & use Commanding shout on ur party as u rush in. You could also consider using Battleshout instead in cases wherein u have more than one melee DPS (ur not one of em). Use Demo shout on Kargath once he's in range & position urself at the (not too low) center portion of room. As u tank n' spank, remember to keep ur demo shout up, so re-shout everytime it hits 75% on the cooldown. This will decrease his blade dance & cleave damage. Finally when he does his blade dance... DO NOT FOLLOW HIM. If ur too close to a party member during this attack the cleave damage directed to you will hit them as well. So stay where u are. You'll see him running back to you like a long lost lover at the beach. In cases that u loose aggro after this, "intervene" & taunt him back into position. Then start the process all over again.
Side Note:
The party may also consider directing their dps on adds during the dance to maintain aggro on the tank. It's not really required but it helps a lot on maintaining add population controll. Especially if u have one crazy dps class that regularly pulls threat away from the tank (*hint-hint - threat meter comes in handy).
Good luck on the drops & grats in advance ;)

wasnt an easy or hard fight, we had troubles in the beginning as 2 members (hunter and mage) were new to the fight, we did just as followed:
(with a mage, hunter, healadin, tankadin, rogue:me)
every1 on stairs b4 pull, have healer go into the top left corner, hunter top right and mage bottom right, me and the tankadin stood at the top of the stairs while me, the mage and the hunter dpsd kargath down, every 30 seconds he Blade danced where we all just stood in our spots while healadin healed through it, whenever he did blade dance the tankadin would grab all of the adds with Consecretion and such. and after we killed kargath with straight DPS, the adds ran away.
some things i did as a rogue mid fight was if u see an add running passed concecretion or w.e you have as CC to protect the healer, was Shiv with Crip poison so the add wouldnt get far, and ranged targets should just get meleed or gouged
through the whole thing just straight DPS and you should be fine, if healer gets adds, just have the mage, balance druid, hunter, rogue or w.e class u have as dps to shoot em down till they are off healer

after 1 wipe, we cleared the normal instance 3 straight times by having me(rogue) just on top of stairs with doing adds with occasional assist from mage while tank brings kargath to the middle.
while there, i saw the assasins popping in and out from stealth. i was well away from aggro range though so i think fighting on top flight of stairs is safe.
should hunters be used for adds, they should not send the pet in to meet incoming adds. it was the reason we wiped at first.

This guy is easy-sauce as a Paladin main tank.
Avenge Shield start, Judge Crusade, Seal of Righteousness, and wail away. I had 2 shamans in my group, 1 ele and 1 resto, so I was blessed with Wrath of Air and Windfury. Lots of hits = lots of Righteous hits (up'd with WoA totem).
When he spazzes, chill in the middle and toss a spare heal on yourself if you have mana, gift of naaru. Don't chase him. If you have your RF up, the holy threat will bring him right back (so long as your DPS have Salv on them and aren't going ape on the charts).

Heroic Note - I tried this last night with
* Feral Druid
* Holy Priest
* Mage
* Warlock
* Warlock
We just couldn't do it, due to the Blade dance pwning our cloth. We swapped to some alts, and ended up doing it the first try with
* Prot warrior
* 2 ferals
* Warlock
* Priest
The ferals went bear during blade dance, and sometimes when more than one add came out. It made a WORLD of difference because they took 1/5 the damage as the casters were.
Good luck!

- 1 warlock
- 1 mage
- 1 priest
- 1 rogue level 67 (me)
We just dps'd him until death, while fearing the add everytime they got near some caster (if needed, i went to tank the adds)... this way, we killed him without problems and in a reasonable amount of time.

We jus couldn't get him down.
If people have done him wats the trick? not having cloth wearers?

Heroic notes:
This thread's pretty consistent, if you read the whole thing; they're all describing the same principle. The key is maximum and even distance between everyone. If you have a melee DPS, stick them where the adds come in and just handle the adds, then tank him in the back and reposition ranged so that there's an equal distance between everyone.
My theory is that the total Blade Dance is distance-based, both on choice of next target and total travel length. Hence why it works to spread out, so that you minimize the possibility that he can loop through twice to the same target--like say BD is 50m long and you're 10m apart, there are 5 hits that will happen in those 50m, whereas if you could be 25m apart (you can't due to the room size), only 2 hits could happen.
Just a theory based on how it seems to work. Regardless of the actual truth of it, any two people being too close together is a fatal mistake on this, T6 or not. Anybody with less than 9K health in cloth is also at risk for immediate termination on a Dance. Two hits and you're done. It's a near thing every time I've killed him on Heroic, and it usually ends with at least one person dead and the tank holding multiple un-CCd adds as you attempt to do a max burn down through the last 20%.
Also bear in mind that if you're going for the Trials or the other timed quest here, Kargath is not the Executioner. That guy's in the little hallway behind him that has the assassins. So you need to make a fast recovery after Kargath, don't even bother looting. Then lay into it quick like. Even if you've had an uber run, you'll be tight on time.

So we ran this guy for the Heroic daily tonight (Emerald Dream server). PUG group, laugh all you like, but these guys were really good. Party was me (prot warrior), hunter, rogue, lock, and pally healer. We were managing to wipe on Kargath a lot anyway, because the lock had a marked propensity to be triple-charged in a blade Dance and die early on. Without his dps, the adds got out of control pretty fast after that.
So we did a hail mary. The hunter started mass CC'ing all the adds and we just burned Kargath. After about the fourth add (Kargath was at about 50%), I moved to pick adds off the healer, praying Kargath wouldn't cleave him too hard in the process. At about the sixth add (Kargath at 30%) the lock fear bombed, followed by my fear, followed by challenging/shield wall/last stand/"oh crap" buttons. It came down to me dying to the adds a second after Kargath died, and the hunter and rogue avoiding the wipe after the kill and rezzing us with jumpers -- I swear it seemed like everyone except the pally had jumpers that run.
So if for whatever reason your dps is rather squishy or the adds end up going out of control, you can still hail mary this fight even on Heroic -- provided you have one HELL of a hunter, and good team coordination with diverting adds.
Good god, it was epic.

Doing this with a pally tank is pretty easy. With consecration up, you can keep aggro on all the adds, and if you have over 300 block value, they essentially don't do damage to you. This means that you don't have to assign a DPS to the adds, so you can focus-fire on the boss and get him down quicker.

Noob-sauce for Heroic and Regular: Amautor's comments apply to both regular and heroic.
If you have a protection paladin as main tank, with even moderate gear (crafted and a few set piece blues), and some strong healing, you can simply plant the tank at the top of the stair, with the party arrayed around the cage.
Pull Bladefist to the tank, and consecrate and taunt to hold all the adds. He doesn't hit that hard, and the party still stays pretty spread out so blade dance is minimized. DPS is maximized by keeping the add management simple.
On heroic we had:
1 elemental sham
1 resto sham
1 combat rogue
1 beast hunter
1 prot pally
Tried almost every strat listed here, and failed. One shotted him with this one.

A bit of background on this fugly guy:
Prior to the Orcs second invasion on Azeroth, Kargath was a respected member of the Old Horde, what is now knows as the Fel horde in Outland. His Shattered Hand Clan, along with the Warsong Clan, were the two clans of Orcs stranded on Azeroth when the Dark Portal was destroyed for the first time.
Some time afterward he came into contact with Magtheridan and was made leader of the Fel Ocs in Helfire Citidel, calling himself the true Warchief of the Horde.
The outpost of Kargath in the Badlands was named in his honor. In addition, the shore south of Orgrimmar has been dubbed Bladefist Bay, and the headquarters of the Warsong Logging Camp in Ashenvale is known as Kargathia Keep.
Kargath's former clan, the Shattered Hand Clan, still exists as the Rogue Guild in Orgrimmar's Cleft of Shadow, training young rogues in the way of stealth and assassination.
After you kill Kargath for the Horde quest Will of the Warchief, Nazgrel had this to say,"In his prime, Kargath Bladefist was a fine warrior, a hero and example to his people. His death is a blow to us all, but especially to Warchief Thrall. Whatever happened to him in his final days, we should not forget the orc Kargath once was, nor the lessons to be learned from his downfall."

I haven't done this heroic more then once, but when we did, he only charged the right side of the platform when he started his blade dance, and that was where the healer was placed. We wiped 3 timed due to that. I switched side with the healer, and the healer was not touched at all, instead I got killed in the second blade dance when he bounced between tank and I 4 times.
Can anyone confirm or deny that he prefers to charge one side from another, or that we just encoutered a semi-bugged version of him that day.

Just tried this on heroic with a pally tank, two rogues, and me the resto druid. When he did his spin attack, all the melee would get hit really hard and it was very difficult keeping everyone up. Once he would start spinning the paladin would blessing of protection me to keep me from taking damage. After the first spin, the next spin would kill us all as I couldnt keep everyone alive. My tip, bring some ranged dps for this fight to make it alot easier on healers, or bring a resto shaman for chainheals!

If you sneak past Warlord O'mrogg, he will pull all the way to Bladefist when you engage the fight. My warrior discovered this the other day when soloing the instance for her Figurine of the Colossus. Only ended up being a minor inconvenience, but other people may find it to complicate the fight a little bit more.

For anyone who's curious: Easily soloable by pally in lvl 80 blues. 537 def 18k hp. Didn't bring any mana/health pots. Hardest part was getting through that first hallway, until I learned the glory of using a smart seal like light instead of blood :-p
Boss is easy enough. I was ret in tank gear. since I had no pots I had to bubble to bandage. Just keep spamming your attacks and keep conc up. Used JoL and SoW, and by keeping Divine plea on cooldown didn't have much trouble. the adds take care of themselves on conc and retri aura.
Use the JoL / SoW combo on all the bosses, since it takes a bit of time to whittle down all their HP, and they don't hurt enough to warrant using SoL. however, on the trash, you may want to use SoL if you're not prot, since almost every pull is 3+ mobs.

Pretty tough boss, even on normal.
Tank the boss at the staircase so the tank can grab adds easily. Have the healer stand in the middle of the platform where Kargath spawns, so the tank can grab adds off of them because those heals will likely gain aggro.
With decent enough heals and a fair tank you can focus on Kargath until he's about 2/3 down. Kill rogues on sight if possible.
Once you've hit about 1/2 health, focus on clearing down the adds.
This is a heavy fight for all of the roles. The heals have a simple yet challenging role of keeping the tank alive. The tank must keep all of the targets on himself for the duration, and the dps have to be fast enough to wipe out Kargath before the tank or healer run out of hp/mana.
Tanks should use the downtime during his bladestorm attack to get aggro on em from the other adds.
Another strategy, which I have not tested, is to have an offtank and one dps stand on the front stair and burn down adds when they come, tank Kargath at the back of his platform, and have the heals stand in the middle to heal both tanks.

Where to start ...
We tried this guy about 5 times, every time ending with me (Paladin Healing) going OOM at 20% which eventually led to ultimate death.
This guy has three moves.
First: He will "Scatter Shoot" someone (Not sure how since he Dual Wields and has no Bow or Gun. USUALLY the MT. For us, it was 100% of the time on the MT.
When this happens, he will temporarely run off after the 2nd highest threat player. I suggest you kite him around your MT, so the MT can regain aggro as soon as Scatter Shot wears.
Second: Will call for reinforcements every now and then (Every 10-15 seconds it seemed).
These backup soldiers hit fairly hard and take a bit to deal with, but not too much. So as soon as they come out, focus fire on them and go back to the boss immediately.
We found this to work the best as having someone solo them drew too much of my Healing towards them and limited DPS on the Boss.
Third: This is about the scariest. He will use a Whirlwind move. This move makes him spin across the entire room. So getting hit by it, it's almost inevitable.
The key is Bandages. Use them! By the time he uses this ability again, your Bandage debuff should be wearing off. He uses it about every 30-60 seconds. He never used it in less than 30 seconds for us, but perhaps we were lucky?
Note: You must ALL walk up to him together. As soon as you aggro him, you will have exactly 5 seconds before Stealthed Assassins appear by the steps. These Assassins won't do anything but stand by the first steps of the ring. Avoid walking down once you enter the ring or you'll end up having to deal with 2x Assassins + 1x Soldier Summon + Boss.
I repeat, you must fight INSIDE the ring at ALL times.
Setup suggestion: This fight is long and much of an endurance.
You'll likely want 2 Healers, 1 MT and 2 DPS classes with a form of CC (Rogue + Mage seemed the best for us; they're also needed to actually get to the second and last boss as you fight pulls of 4-6 Lv 68-70 elite mobs who don't kid around (These mobs hit hard, REALLY hard).

We did this with
1 Prot Warrior (70)
1 Sword Rogue (70)
1 Hunter (NERF) (70)
1 Tree-form Druid (70)
1 Shadow Priest (69)
The first try, we had the rogue/priest do steady DPS on boss, hunter takes adds, druid heals (cow form) and warrior tanks only boss. Our hunter couldn't kill the adds in a short enough fashion so our tank and druid were swarmed when the boss was at 20%. Second attempt, put our amazing DPS rogue on the adds and he killed them as they came in the ring. Druid went tree form and managed to avoid the blade-rush every time (very lucky... it's entirely random). Killed him with no deaths and druid at 70% mana (innervated priest).
SUCKS THOUGH: dropped leather loot the rogue didn't need and plate paladin stuffs. >.<

Seriously, this fight is rather easy
Let the tank stand in the middle with the warchief
The four others spread out at the four different corners in his arena, if you stand on the bridge outside orc assassins will spawn. The warchief hits fairly weak so you dont have to heal the tank so much. Just stand still when he does blade dance, it doesnt hit for too hard. Let a dps take adds.
We used:
Prot warrior
Shadow priest
fire mage
beastmastery hunter
and resto shaman (me)
The hunter took care of the adds
The priests vampiric embrace and my earth shield was enough to heal the tank trough the whole fight, the only thing i did was to renew the shield and helped the hunter with the incoming adds. When the boss was down i was at 100% mana

warrior with fury spec
resto shaman
frost mage
shadow priest
all lvl 70
tanked boss in middle of arena. me,mage and priest killed adds when they came, they die rather fast when all dps is turned on them.
durin most of the fight there was bloodlust on and 2 fire elementals slapping boss.
really easy:)

Two-shotted this guy on our first night in SH, normal mode. All wearing BC blues with mediocre gems.
70 Tank-Druid (Feral)
70 Healer-Paladin (Holy)
70 DPS-Priest (Shadow)
70 DPS-Warlock (Affliction)
70 DPS-Mage (Arcane-Fire)
Before you start, clear all trash near the boss. Adds that spawn during the fight are hard enough without others aggroing on you.
When you pull, setup immediately. Tank him in the middle. Setup the other four at the edge of the arena ring, far away from each other. Two ranged DPS (our Lock and Mage) on either side of the entry and the healer (our Pally) and other (Shadow Priest) on the far side of the entry.
Aggro the adds that spawn at the entry immediately. This is why the DPS is at the entry point rather than the healer. Either bring the spawns to the tank in the middle or CC them using DPS classes. You just don't want them locking up the healer. Kill them quick then resume DPS on the boss.
Boss hits like a little girl, even the "Blade Dance" is weak as long as you're spread out according to this strategy. This positioning minimizes getting hit multiple times with his ability. DPS can use bandage+healthstone after Blade Dance is over, and they can resume attacks.
Good luck.

Alot of confusion and utterly wrong tactics here.
He is easy if you know how to do it.
First of all, there needs to be someone with a limitless high damage potential (read: DPS warrior, rogue, enchanting shaman) that needs to be on add killing duty at all times when adds are present, and must only concentrate on 2 things, whether there's adds (first priority) if there's none, checking if it's possible to attack bladefist (second priority).
Secondly, you need a well geared tank who tanks him in the northeast or northwest corner of the cage preferably. Why there? Simple, his blade dance keeps in an area of X yards around the tank in most cases, if the next player to ''dance'' to is too far, he will simply "meh" it and spin around the tank hitting air and the tank, this will make healing alot easier.
However, if you get hit by it, bandage yourself, the healer will not have enough mana to heal you and the tank and himself (if hit).
Thirdly, the position is as follows. (crude ascii)
X = tanking position
Y = Ranged casters and healers
= = steps
- = walls et.c.
Z = Rogue/ DPS warrior / Enchanting shaman
V = Adds come from this direction
- -
- V -
- -
- === -
- =Z= -
- === -
----===----
- -
- X -
- -
- -
- -
----===----
- =Y= -
- === -
- === -
do not cross this line
- -
and Finally, the assassins only aggro if you go within 5-10 yards of them, being in the highest 5 steps is completely safe.
With this tactic it will be easy as long as he's DPSed down pretty fast, but with the reminder that overnuking kills especially if done during the wrong time (just before blade dance, which, by the way, is timed attack and occurs 30 seconds after engaging combat and then every 30 seconds after blade dance has finished.
Easy boss, but needs a group that's organized, though doable in PuG.

Had multiple attempts at him before we called it. Party consisted of Prot Pally, Hunter, Mage, and Holy Priest, and a Rogue. Party had difficulty dealing with his blade spin manuever and burning down the adds fast enough.
Tried having the party stand outside the ring to distance dps and kill the adds while avoiding the blade spin. That did work a little, but the Hunter had difficulty taking the adds fast enough.
Tried again with the Mage doing dps on the boss while hunter and rogue killed adds, but became more of a mana fight at the end with the priest falling to a blade attack.
Fought in the ring, but died quicker.
Party was also bandaging post blade spin, but that caused more difficulty in dealing with the adds.
Will try again after we run some more of the other instances. Just a tough fight in general.

Had just tried Shattered Halls on Heroic. Using the steps as the method to avoid the whirlwind dance no longer seemed viable as he ran through the steps consistently.
Doing it with a single healer also seems highly unlikely as our priest would get killed by the 2nd time he went into the whirlwind dances.
Adds have about 2000 more hitpoints than normal and hit for 100-300 more if I remember correctly. Best we got was 55%, though we were less than an ideal group.

We had a mage, shadow priest, lock, me , and hunter. We had the priest stand in corner by stairs and DPS in the corners across from the stiars. I tanked him near the stairs but not on them and thunder clapped each time an add came. This way they stayed off the healer, got initial agro on me for easy healing.

We finished with:
Holy Pally, Aff Lock, Arcane/Fire Mage (me), Feral Druid, and Warr (some prot, mostly arms)
all 70
we wiped 3 or 4 times through the whole thing,
with little cc. keep the succ out for the lock to sleep one, sheep one, and focus dps through each mob, warr and druid tanking (unless druid heals are needed)
After first wipe on last boss one dropped and he told us the best way to finish him, although it takes a long time it worked very well.
Everyone stands on the stairs before boss, near the top but a step down or so as to not aggro the rogues. The warr runs into arena and tanks boss while pulling him towards opposite stairs, to get some distance from clothies. dot him up and dps until first add comes then everyone switches over dps to the add (with the druid tanking) and the pally giving him some heals as needed, then back to the boss after the add is down. This way his charge doesn't reach the clothies or anyone else on the stairs, he just charges around the arena at nothing. If the healer runs out of mana, innervate as needed. I would recommend a good healer, 2 tanks, and good dps with some cc. Piece of cake.

A rogue with ImpSap is INCREDIBLY VALUABLE on the Kargath fight, for one simple reason.
If this rogue saps one of the oncoming adds during the fight, it will of course, become sapped. BUT.
Heres the fun part.
When the next add runs down the hallway, the rogue saps that one, and the first mob slowly walks back to the end of the hallway. This can be repeated and done as many times as possible, and all of them despawn at the end of the fight.
This saves healer mana while not sacrificing a huge amount of DPS and works fantastically.

My group consited ofW:
Warrior Fury (DPS)
Druid Feral (Tank)
Warlock
Mage
Paladin (Heals)
Very important factor in this fight, Fixed places for each member of the party to stand. In our scenario we had Warlock, Mage and Paladin stand at 3 seperate Corners, having Paladin in mid corner and DPS on the 2 outer corners, this way everyone stays in range of heals. Druid Tank fights Kargath in the middle of the Square Ring. This way when Kargath begins his flurry of intercepts he has longer distances to stride between group members, resulting in fewer attacks against group members.
Fury Warrior solo'ed the adds at the edge of the stairs, needing minimal heals.
The person on adds is best off a non mana class, with decent defensive capabilities. Person on Adds also needs to keep mobs off the healer, generally dont let any mobs pass them. Remember to keep a Line of Sight with the Healer as well.
Makeshift diagram of room positions:
|Mage
|(Corner boss dps)
|
|
|
| Druid(Tank)
| (Center Room)
|
|
|
|
|
|Paladin____Warrior____Warlock|
-(CornerHeals) -(Adds) -(Corner dps)
Most important factor of this boss fight is staying spread far apart from one another, otherwise Kargath with tear the party to shreds with his special(that flurry of intercepts).

Whoever said this boss was easy is sadly mistaken, at least from my experience.
We tried this many times with 2 different groups. First group had:
70 Warrior
70 Druid-Feral
70 Druid-Resto
70 Rogue- Sub.
70 Mage
We tried it a few times but failed when the rogue had to leave. We found a Warlock to replace him but still did not succeed in downing him at all. I think our issue was the DPS from the rogue not being an actual dps spec and all. But the closest we got to downing him was around 25% or so. The only way we got him that far was as someone said before, going into corners and doing it that way. Instead of having one person on adds, we had 2. The feral druid and the lock. That seemed to do the trick but we were tired and had died alot and had repaired alot as well and I think if you go in there with health pots and mana pots and bandages you will do great. Still a very very hard boss because of the adds. He is not easy. And his blade dance/pinball ability is not cake it hits very very hard for those that wear leather/cloth.

Tank in middle. Corners for casters + hunter. Tank and rogue in middle. MAD DPS all the way through. SP bomb fears, hunter ice traps any runners. Pally heals. Rogue evasion first "pinball". Subsequent pinballs, rogue helps with any adds. IF mobs are hefty towards the end, warrior can drop a fear. Mass DPS - focus fire - throughout on boss.
No one ever dropped past 50%, pally never went below 40% mana.
Keep an eye out for Marksmen. Their scatter shot can FUBAR the event. Ice trap/DPS/whatever... they are the make or break.

Guy is just too hard on heroic. We tore through the rest of the instance with no problem but this guy wiped us 8-9 times before we quit in disgust. No matter what positioning we tried, people at the bottom of the stairs, people in corners, spread out against walls, they always got cleaved 2 or 3 times and for clothies this is instant death.
This was with our best 5 people in the guild. We were the first to complete just about every other dungeon in our guild. There's absolutely no way we're going to get 25 people through that quest to get attuned to the eye. Compared to the other Naruu quests this one is way overtuned.

If you're having trouble with this guy, here's my 2 cents worth:
That periodic attack he does is more of an intercept+cleave rather than a spinning dance. He basically runs up to each member and cleaves them. For this reason, people should spread out as far as possible from each other or you'll take someone else's cleave as well as your own. 2 people next to each other is 2 cleaves each (4 total) and 3 ppl next to each other is 3 cleaves each (9 total) = mass death. If you have more than 1 melee class on boss, then 2 cleaves each is almost unavoidable, just be prepared for it.
Biggest reason for wipes: adds swamp the group. We usually have 1 melee class on full time add duty with 1 caster helping down them quick. The caster can then about face and recommence dps on the boss. Remember to keep your spacing for the oncoming cleaves.
Gunmen adds (they have scatter shot) have absolute kill priority when they arrive. If allowed to get a shot off, then healer and tank are in trouble. Don't give them the chance.
Every member other than the tank and melee dps should try to be as independent from the healer as possible. The time between adds and also between his cleave attacks are the time to bandage, pot, whatever. Stay at full health, because that attack of his WILL come again.
This guy can be easily outlived. The only variables are his adds and his cleave attack. Control those and you got him. I've tanked this guy at least a dozen times, all successful, with a myriad of group configurations. Just adapt and use your assets well.
Recap: tank, spank, adds, spread
Good huntin'

This guy, yeah, a tad difficult. My group did with with me, being the Paladin tank. A Rogue, Warlock, hunter, and a Resto Shaman, the key is to have your main tank tank him at the top of the steps that lead to the chamber in which he stands. Everyone else should run into his chamber and spread out, well, at least the ranged and healing should. The tank will need to be resiliant, as his/her job will be picking up the adds that run into the chamber. As a Paladin, this was easy for me, Consencration picked them up pretty well. Bladefist will also drop his attention from the tank, to charge all party members, damaging slightly, after that is done, he will continue to attack the tank. DoT'ed, DPS, and all 'round destroyed this guy. You can too.

Shaman (healer)
Reasonably easy - me (druid) and Hunter focussed on the adds, hitting the boss during the spawn breaks. I innerverated healer, and rogue focussed on the boss with the tank.
Didn't take too long, all survived (although it was pretty close at the end).

Main thing is to handle adds and have enough dps for the boss.
Otherwise healer will die or run out of mana
before boss dies.
Whole instance is easier with 2 tanks anyway.
So I would recommend group having atleast 2 classes that have decent armor with second having also some tanking ability too.
Ive done this boss few times. Just did propably
the best kill with group that had hunter, rogue,
retri paladin, warrior tankin and holy paladin healing.
Retri paladin handled adds while others nuked
the boss. No sweat, didnt need to use all mana for healing , and no one died.
Tried this few times with mage handling the adds,
and it at average doesnt seem to work. Dont recommend to try. Rogues arent either good for the adds.
And remember you dont need to kill all adds, just let other nuke boss at peace and protect healer long enough.
The orcs will run after boss is dead.
So tank the adds and nuke the boss!

He is fairly easy using this Stratedy with a Paladin Tank and good DPS:
Tank him near the stairs from where the adds come (still on the platform though), use consacration when the adds appear or, if you have enough Mana, keep spamming it.
The adds will be hit by it and start on the Tank so the DPSers can fully focus on the Boss and ignore them, as they might beat themselves to death by holy shield which should be constantly spammed.
You can use SoL and JoL or combined with SoW/JoW to help your Mana&Health; to stay up and let the healer worry a little less.
With good DPS (2 Mages or so) the Boss should be down fairly fast and all remaining adds will run away.
Also: Prot Pallys!: Roll for the Figurine of The Colossus if it drops. This will be your main trinket for a long time and make this fight and the whole instance much easier in case you want to farm reputaion and/or your D3 set later on.
I personally consider the boss fight even easier than the Gladiator groups in the instance.

Found an easy way to kill him if you're low on DPS and avoid his Whirlwind attack for everyone but the tank.
We did this with:
Paladin (Protect)
Paladin (Holy)
Priest (Discipline Hybrid)
Rogue
Shamman (Elemental/Enhance)
When you walk up to the stairs, count up to the third step. We had our healers, the rogue and shammie stand there. WHATEVER YOU DO once the enounter starts, DO NOT GO DOWN PAST THAT THIRD STEP. This will aggro the hidden mobs.
Pally tank went in and fought the boss in the middle while one healer stayed on heal duty for him. We had the holy pally do it with Flash of Light. The tank pally used Seal/Judgement of Vengence for additional damage on the boss.
The Priest and Rogue fought the adds with the shammie and killed them as they reached the third step. The priest kept that group alive and between adds, they (the adds group) threw some attacks (wand, spells, an occasional totem) towards the boss.
From this spot on the steps, when Kagar does his whirlwind attack, he most likely will not even touch the adds group at all as long as they're ON THE THIRD step. If they came towards the ring to help DPS and his whirlwind went off, they'd get hit so you have to watch for that. His whirlwind attack goes off every 30 seconds so it's easy to know when it's coming and get clear.
Sometimes when Kagar did his run around attack, he would hit them on the step but it was very, very minimal damage and then he went right back to the tank in the center of the ring. This was a MASSIVE improvement over having the clothies in the ring with him. I suspect if the tank pulls him a little deeper into the ring but not too far from center (have to stay in line of sight for the third step to get heals) Kagar would not even go to the group on the step.
Anyhow, this makes it very easy to heal and not run out of mana. While slow, this did wear him down and kill the boss really easily. No one died this way and we finished with mana to spare (although we did use 2 mana potions for each healer just to be safe). When the boss was at like 10% or less, everyone just charged him and finished him off.
We tried many unsuccessful attempts of having people in the ring corners, spread out, none of it worked well. When we figured this out, it went smooth as can be. If you're having a hard time, try this out :)

We had a pally tank when we did Heroic Shattered Hallz. Watch out; you need a ranged dpser to take on the sniper adds at the fight against Kargath. They hit hard and have a mana draining shot, which prevented our Pally tank from Tanking or our priest from healing him.

I've only killed him twice (don't need him any more, got drops and done quests). Space out, be careful, use a hunter or tankadin or shaman to take adds, spam dots, keep out of the corridor, assins spawn there when boss starts, and non elites rush the area where you are fighting, bandage when he does blade dance, and get some preety nice drops. Got figurine of the clossas on 2nd kill.

Hate this place on Heroic.
I just tank everyone on the Warchief event, adds included.
Every time we do this, it seems to work best with brute force. I have about 16k armor and 16k hp (warrior). I tank him right in front of the stairs, i.e. where the adds come from. I pick them up with thunderclap, intimidating shout, taunt, cleave, whatever...put them all on me while I tank him. All dps is spread out and all-out on him. Healer keeps me alive, doesn't have to worry about anyone else...biggest struggle is keeping adds on me and off the healer; however, after good aggro is established, you can swap off Kargath for a few swings and SS/devastate the add a couple times to grab them. If I need a panic button, I have fear. Works.
I hate Shattered Halls. Kill it dead. Once I get the unused axe of the executioner, I'll never go back.

We did this 2nd attempt with a shadowpriest healing. Normal mode.
Prot pally tank
Combat rogue
Subtelty rogue
Demonology warlock (me)
Shadowpriest (healer)
We woulda got this first time, but I had my voidwalker handing back across the bridge so it'd be out of range to be killed by the boss' whirlwind, but in range for an emergency bubble. Bad idea; the rogues outside the circle attacked my VW, I bubbled it, and they came after me. Wipe.
2nd attempt: Got prepared with healthstones all round, to save the shadow priest wasting mana healing people from whirlwind. Also used bandages after whirlwind on ourselves, and those with low first aid skill, including healer.
Felguard is good for this fight. VW works, but you wanna kill the adds fast. Adds are vulnerable to any indoor CC, including fear. A good alternative would be a hunter for adds. Try to dedicate one good PVE class for handling adds, while keeping dots (such as stings for hunters or affliction spells for locks) on the boss to help DPS him down.
My main advice is to take health potions/healthstones, and most definitely bandages to this fight, or it'll be a serious drain on your healer's mana to recover from each whirlwind. For adds, you really should use a hunter or warlock, for their safe pve abilities. Also, keep an eye out for the orc hunters, as they can scatter shot. nobody wants that on the main tank, so set your pet on them as soon as you see them running up the ramp! While we didnt use a mage, I imagine a mage would do well for the CC with polymorph, and other various CC, aswella s high damage.
This guy hits like a runaway train, so your healer's efforts should be on the main tank. I cannot emphasise enough how important it is to find ways to heal yourself and the healer. Bandages, potion injectors, soulstones, etc. HAndle it like Black Morass as for adds. Good luck!

Have done this fight a few times now what seems to work best is if the tank picks up all the adds as the enter from the stairs everyone else spreads to corners and DPS/ heals from there I like using a Lock on this fight as provided they allow the tank to get a decent amount of aggro on the adds you can Just SoC the Boss while everyone focuses fire on him and the adds will clear very quickly the corner thing kept us from taking more than one hit every 30 seconds from the blade dance

This boss can be quite hard if you don't know what to do. My group was comprised of:
70 Fury Warrior (Me)
70 Resto Druid
70 Feral Druid
70 Assassination Rogue
70 Destruction Warlock
Feral tanked Warchief the whole fight, and resto mainly healed the Feral while the Rogue and I took down adds while focusing some light DPS onto the boss. The Lock did nothing except put everything he add into the Warchief. When an add would run to the healer I'd switch to Defensive Stance, taunt off, and then continue to kill the adds. Simple if you can kill the adds quickly.
The cleave/whirlwind/whatever you want to call it hurts the healer alot though, so try to bandage them whenever there is a break in the adds.

He isn't that hard. We did 2 consecutive SH runs yesterday; since we couldn't find a tank, our resto druid put on some tanking gear and we rocked the place (though holding aggro was a bit of an issue for the resto .. but not too much). Absolutely no issues on first two bosses; with a melee focused on the adds we also took Kargath down first run on our 2nd try and 2nd run 1st try. Just be very carefull when killing the sharpshooter adds; don't go too close or you'll aggro the 2 elite rogues.

This is the last boss in the Shattered Halls in Hellfire Citadel. Before you can get into the instance, you need to have someone with the key to the Shattered Halls. It is not that hard to get and the quest for it starts from the
Primal Key Mold
.
The Warchief Kargath-fight is a kind of complicated if you don't do it right. First of all, make sure all party members fight inside the "ring" where he stands when you engage him. Otherwise you will get spawned elites on you once the fight is initiated and those will hurt both healers mana and valuable time to dps the Warchief.
Warchief Kargath Bladefist is not hard to hold aggro from, so a single tank on him is enough. About one minute into the fight, he will start random charge and cleave people for 1 000-1 500. It is important that the group is spread out so the cleaves does minimal damage. Holy Shields, Ice Blocks, Feign Deaths, Vanish and Bear-forms are good tools to avoid hard cleaves. Further more all partymembers need to Bandage themselves up during the fight. Most will suffer 2 000-3 000 damage from the charge-cleaves and that damage should be healed with Bandages, not not the healers mana.
All along the fight, lvl 69 non-elite mobs will come from the hall way. These should be killed with prior1, preferably offtanked by a hunterpet or lock-voidwalker. Adds > Warchief Kargath.
If the group contains secondary healers like Paladins or Shamans, these should use their mana rather restrictivly to be there as backup healer. It will be needed! There seem to be no magic damage during this fight so Amplify Magic (if the party have a Mage) could give the healer the edge to keep everone up.

Just a little to add to the above post. It's not exactly a cleave; It's more of a pingponging whirlwind (think sartura fight) that hits a max of 5 people. It's periodic and becomes more frequent as he loses health.
Also if done right, you wont need bandages at all.
My group: 70warlock(me), 70warrior tank (actually fury specced 42pts in), 69holy pally, 69feral druid, 69frost mage.
We had kargath tanked in the very center. Our healer was in a corner. I was in another corner. The druid was in bear form tanking the adds as the mage DPSed the adds down. The druid and mage were in the doorway as to be at max range from kargath as well. If you stay deep in the corner and sorta tank kargath away from everyone else the whirlwind will be completely avoided by all.
I will aggree the fight is a strain on the healer manawise, making high dps necessary. Kargath has around 150k HP. The fight is lengthy considering only 1-2 DPSers will be on kargath (1 in our case).
The Key to the fight is to stay away from Kargath and the tank and deep in the corners. That will net you a ton of damage avoidance for the entire group. Pace yourself and rip him a new one.
GLHF and try things out for yourself and fine tune em.

My groud (Me lvl 70 warrior tanking, 70 warrior DPS, 70 druid healer, 70 mage DPS and shaman DPS) did this boss easily. He spawns adds all over the fight that have lots of health, don't kill them, takes too much time.
Tank - Just simply tank the boss and pick up the adds that come with 2-3 sunders/demo shout/thunderclap and make sure you don't lose them. Don't worry about the charging he does randomly, that doesn't mean you've lest aggro :). And fear adds when they get too much trouble.
Healer - Just heal, nothing important to know.
Shaman (DPS) - Nuke
Warrior (DPS) - Fear adds with tank warrior and take a bit aggro of them.
Mage - Nuke
It's really easy boss.

"break in the adds"....there are no breaks. they spawn at set intervals that get shorter and shorter as the fight goes on (time related, not boss hp related). the design intent of the fight is to make it harder as time goes on, swarming you with more adds than you can handle. as such, focusing on the adds is a losing proposition in the long run.
simply put, you put the maximum amount of dps on the boss from the very start. complete frontload. trinkets, cooldowns, the works. (he's 100% tauntable). then you start to worry about actually killing the adds once you've taken a large chunk out of the guy. this is going to be about when he does his first blade dance (hopefully...its on a random timer).
speaking of the blade dance, the concept is simple: if you bunch up, you're dead. if you spread out, you live. its the polar opposite of the magma dudes in arcatraz. he deals dmg at a constant rate to everyone near him when he does it. if you;re all bunch up, he dont gotta move. if you spread out, you create gaps where hes doing no dmg to anyone cause no one is in range as he travels from person to person. the further you spread out, the more distance he has to travel between pingponging from person to person, wasting more of the pulses. make sense?
so you assign everyone a corner to jump into, and as soon as he starts to dance, even jumps into their corner and bandages, heals, w/e, between visits by the whirling boss. the tank stays in the middle, cause thats where boss is coming back to. the healer takes one of the back corners away from teh hall where all the adds come from. the person handling adds obviously takes a corner next to the hall.
everyone does need to be on the platform proper. just like the Stalker in underbog, leaving the platform will deagro the boss and cause an evade bug as it tries to cancel the event.

Did this instance last ni...early this morning. Tankadin, demo lock, 2 fire mages, and me (disc/holy priest). For the whole instance we did incredibly well, even the 7 pulls were easy (2 sheeps, mending death bounce and renew handled them). Only problem was Kargath.
His normal melee attack is NOTHING. Even with -80 damage from blessing of protection, his normal attacks were pathetic. It's the whirlwind thingy that kills. We wiped first time because the mages then the lock died to it, then I couldn't keep the pally alive because adds were on me.
Second time, we all spread out like another post said to do. We all remembered our healthstones and bandages. It should be noted that his whirlwind sometimes bounces back to a person, hitting them twice (or more) in the same cycle. This killed a mage before he could even healthstone. But we still had enough dps to down him before I went oom. The demolock took care of most of the adds with felguard and well controlled fear dot kiting.
Healers should remember for this guy not to focus solely on the tank. There should be plenty of time after the whirlwind cycle to heal the tank, but the others need your help too.
Otherwise, pretty easy boss, remember your potions, and good luck.

The best tactic is actually all group except the MT standing on the top step of the ladder and letting ranged dps handle the job. Melee dps should take care of the adds and you get no cleaves whatsoever, which makes this fight trivial.
Standing and positioning is important. Dont go closer or further away from the boss or you will either pull the assasins spawning after the encounter starts or get cleaved.

The charge mechanic seems to do more damage the closer you are to him. He will do damage to anyone in his charge path. Melee DPS must watch out! Ranged stay max range to minimise the damage from charge.
The way we did this (after 4 tries) was for the tank to tank at the door, so they can pick up incoming adds while the DPS and healer stood in the back left corner at absolute max range.

This guy is BS so don't be surprised by BS. Got charged for all my health, looked back at the logs and read:
Overhealed (1209)
Melee (2979)
Melee (2462)
Charge (1103, 200OK)
