Seems like a very common rare spawn, he's a real elite, and got a blue pair of boots which he drops now and then, I'd say not a high drop chance tho. Patrols at the fountain in the beginning of the instance.

This guy can easily be farmed by hunters and rogues (classes that can drop combat). Here's how:

1. Reset the instance until Zerillis spawns with his patrol. (He can also randomly spawn if you clear the fountain patrol, but that's less reliable).

2. Kill Zerillis, but do *NOT* kill his patrolling Shadowhunter buddy. Drop combat after Zerillis is dead, leaving his buddy to patrol by him/herself.

3. Find something to do. After 5-10 minutes, Zerillis will spawn again. This will continue to happen as long as you don't kill his patrolling partner.

4. Profit! Level 40ish greens can sell well; there are 4 classes that look to upgrade all of their armor at 40.

He dropped Gossamer Headpiece of Healing.

This is not a normal set rare spawn, instead he spawns as one of the patrols. He has a slight chance to respawn as one of the wandering patrols after you clear the mobs in that area, meaning he can be killed multiple times in a single run.

Just as an interesting fact: I got two of them wandering in the instance, and they both dropped same blue loot, so I would say its pretty common spawn :)
It shouldn't be hard to farm this guy, but remember that his loot are boots, not wrist (as you might think couse of the icon), and you can get equaly good or even better pair from the bag of goods from random instance :)

Decided to run my 85 through ZF for the 500th time tonight because he hadn't gotten the achievement for it (because he had run it hundreds of times before Burning Crusade, before achievements existed.) and this guy patrolled into me as I was looting bodies near the fountain. It might be that it had been so long since I ran ZF, but I only remembered ever running into this guy maybe once or twice before years ago..

For what it's worth, 3+ years later, the "kill him but not his buddy" trick no longer works. Waited 30m and nothing, while his partner wandered around. I was trying to farm the Gossamer headpiece.

Where exactly does this guy spawn in ZF?

From time to time he roams the very first crossing with the fountain-like structure in the center and trolls kneeling down towards it. There's also a large boulder to your right as you enter.

I dont think the drop chance is as high as the site states it, might be lower.... was there for 5 runs yesterday didn't get it on a single run.

We had him spawn. If you REALLY want him to pop, just camp the fountain. He spawns in the same place as the 2 roaming hunters (which always repop). Easy kill.

He does walk around the foutain, but he is also a Rare Spawn meaning he only Spawns 1 out of 4 times you attempt the instance. If he's not around the fountain, try resetting it and going back in.

When you get to the first crossing with the fountain, there is a patrol of two shadowhunters that circles the fountain. They are the placeholders. Kill them repeatedly and he will keep respawning.

Happened to my group today. We were in the instance, we killed the two shadow hunters, moved onto kill the hydromancer, came back and he was spawned. We killed him, went on to kill some other guys and toured back and he spawned yet again in the same instance run. We killed him again. And that was it. Both times he didn't drop the ankleguards. Just a lot of crap.

Not sure what the rate of his spawn is. I might have just gotten lucky. :)

has anyone gotten a gutripper off this guy?
my group got one but the mage rolled and took it.... and im a rogue... i was just curious if it drops fairly often. and how many do u think it would take to just do zerillis runs? 3 lvl 50's? or a full group?

Stealthed in with a 52 rouge (48 rouge here), and sapped the female troll with him. We just waited until they came over to that little hill, and the 52 pulled him up there. Easy kill. He runs away when he's almost dead, so either kill him fast or stun him.

We would reset the instance, and both of us go in at the same time. Took 3 tries, got the boots for both of us.

I have killed Zerillis about 30 times in a row as I write this message.

Me (level 47 rogue) and my level 53 Paladin friend reset the instance till we saw him and killed him, I had distracted just him so that the other troll that patrols with him kept going and we could take out Zerillis by himself, green item dropped. After that we waited on a hill and Zerillis respawned approximately 8 minutes later, another green item. We just stayed there without reseting the instance and he spawned everytime after about 8 minutes (If you kill the trolls that patrols with him he stops spawning so you have to reset the instance).For the 30 times that we decimated him with our unrelenting attacks we were rewarded with a green item each time.

He is making me insane, just wondering if anyone has got the anklets recently or if patch 1.8 got rid of them/made the drop rate almost non-existant.

They just dropped for me about 5 mins ago.

An interesting side note. Im a 47 rogue doing this solo and I think about any rogue in this lvl range can pull it off. Here's my strategy ( I've killed him 4 times so far tonight with it ):
You will need health pots and bandages!
I also strongly recommend you have some Blinding Powder
There is a hill along the side of the area where he spawns, that is the "staging area".
Apply Crippling poison to both weapons ( very important, you dont want this guy running )
Eat whatever well fed food you can come up with ( I suppose you could beg a priest for a fort but it's not my style ) also drink any pots you can that will increase your agility, strength, and health ( I have been eating wolf ribs +8 stam/spirit, Drinking Agil pots +25, and Drinking elixers of Fortitude +120 health )
Distract Zerillis ( make sure you don't get his patroller ).
Ambush Zerillis once the patrol is out of range.
Start Evasion
Drag Zerillis back on to the hill that was the staging area
At some point Zerillis is going to net you, you cant control when it will happen but when it does, Blind him if you have blinding powder, If not, your going to take a pounding.
If/When you blind Zerillis, bandage.
Drink a pot if needed.

Good Luck, Its not a tough fight so long as you keep him from pulling any adds. Remember, if it gets too hairy, vanish, you can try again.

Using the above guide, I camped him today, he wasn't up when I got the instance, but I killed both the placeholder roamers and he spawned the next spawn. I killed him and found that if I killed him and leave the other roamer placeholder up, he tended to spawn every time. Got 7 spawns in a row and got the ankleguards on the 7th kill.

So using the aforementioned guide, I (47 NightElf Rogue) successfully handled Zerillis and got the the boots x2. It must have been on the fourth kill, he dropped the boots and a Journeymans Backpack. Needless to say I was all adrenilined out for the next few minutes, which gave Zerillis enough time to respawn. So I sacked him again, and what-do-you-know? The boots again :) too bad they're BoP!

(I didn't have too much trouble finding him, out of about 12 or so resets he appeared in 4 of them. Something not mentioned above me is it's best to kill all other patrollers that scout past the staging hill, EXCEPT the troll accompanying Zerillis. Keep this one alive to ensure he respawns till infinite)

Zerillis spawn: 33% 4/12
Sandstalker Ankleguards drop: 40% 2/5

I was doing ZF with a group, and we had a wipe and we had to go back and clear the patrols we killed before, and zerillis spawned. After we did the troll event and killed the chief, we were running out and we came back to the fountain and he was up again! thats twice in one instance, also for the other rare spawn by the troll event (dustwraith)we cleared the area and killed the boss had a wipe i believe so when we were on our way out i saw him standing in the first tent on the right after the zum rah fight. also zerillis is a pretty rare spawn i've done about 15 instances and only seen him 3 times, 2 of them in the same instance.

zerillis walks around the fountain where you can either turn left or right along with another roamer in a single file line. today my group killed him once with no drop, then waited for the respawn. the second kill yielded the ankleguard thingies.

so i guess he's counted as a roamer and respawns faster than normal, like the basilisk patrols that spawn super fast. so, if you get him, wait around until the ankles drop, he'll come back.

take advantage of it before they "fix" it, if you see him.

p.s. on that same run, the game disconnected two members and reconnected them with a different instance id so they got hearthed and the rest of us broke up. unfortunate

ive seen this guy a few times, but i noticed the last few times ive run ZF on my rogue that after we killed the last boss (Ukorz) that this guy spawned....just me or does the killing trigger the spawn?

I'm unsure if any of the previous rogues had the same trouble, but it's not Zerrilis who kills me.
The second add he brings along is only sapped for so long and does not continue on the normal patrol route. It immediately walks towards Zerrilis current position (in this case the little hill to the south where you're killing Zerrilis on) and starts to fight.. Closest I got him was 10% before the shadowhunter frogged me and I got killed :(

Just saw him today while farming mageweave for a tailor alt. He was wandering the room with the four casters around the fountain -after- I'd already cleared the instance, so apparently he doesn't have to spawn the first time through?

Went through here on my warrior the other night in a group that did a full clear of the instance. When we first entered he was not in the any of the patrols we killed that are at the first junction.

As we were leaving we started to have respawns, among them was Zerillis.

Looks like if you're in long enough when the respawns come back that you could get him even if he wasn't there at first.

Was running ZF today and this guy was there. The ankleguards dropped. As a hunter I should be using mail now but the 17 agil was very nice, so a shaman and i need rolled. We both rolled 40 and these went to her. Oh well :(

Soloed as 46 rogue, fairly easy, when he netted me, i just blinded him as said, however my spec was combat so i don't know about the rest i spammed sinister remember to use crip and deadly/or instant. Riposte was a big thing for me here since he hits hard but thats about it. Distract, sap patrol, and pull him when hes near or start out with cheap shot and run back to a safe spot.

THANK YOU FROGNETTLE. Its true ,if he spawns and you kill Just him and not the other hunter thats with him ,after 10 minutes the rare will repop every time. We had to run out of the zone with him beating on us but it worked. Took 7 trys to get the anklets for me.

he is lvl 45 elite for me, and i got him twice in 1 run. he dropped the snadstalker things 1st time round, and some nice plate legs the second time round. im lvl 54, and was soloing this instance for a quest, and wooptydoo, there he is. TWICE. yay me. hes by the fountain. sapped his bud and kept him in stunlock. hes a pushover. he will occasionally trap you, run back and shoot u ith his bow. he was EZ.

I was running a friedn as a 70 mage..cleared the whole instance except the water summoned dude and he spawned out of no where as we were running back..so i think if yoru lucky he might spawn a few times or if not the first time...go back and check

When I've seen Zerillis, it's always been as the 2nd guy of the patrol going around the fountain in the middle of ZF - the one where you get to choose which direction you want to do the instance (Gahz to the left, everything else to the right).

It appears that Zerillis has a chance to spawn as part of that patrol each time it respawns, not only when the instance is started - I've seen the patrol killed on the way in, and Zerillis spawned as part of it going out.

Haha...yea this guy isnt very "rare" at all... i've started getting screenshots with all the WoW rares i find, and i took a shot with Zerillis just 15 mins ago.. saved pic and came on here to see what other ppl have said about him, go back to game and HE'S BACK! Not 15 mins later haha... thats a rare? Same spot... around that first fountain u come to... he can dropped Blue leather wristguards i think... usually doesnt tho :P

This guy isn't a Rare Spawn. He wanders around the instance, thru the one hallway that no one ever goes down. but if u spend enuff time at the well area you'll see him path thru.

I've seen him on every single ZF run i've been on.

Including when we would race our mounts around the instance, if u made it out. you won.

He is a rare spawn apparently. We killed him without knowing this and i got the Ankleguards. It was only after someone came up to me and called me a lucky bastid for getting them tht i realised how lucky i had been.

I wanted his boots as soon as possible, so I figured out how to solo this guy as a 44 Rogue. Might be doable even sooner, with a better spec or gear (I was subtlety and had mediocre gear).

To the right of the fountain, is a hill that allows you to jump onto the wall. If you walk along the wall, there's a pillar you can hide behind (the one on the gate side). That's where you're going to pull from. Distract Zerilis once he's in shooting range from the wall, and once his guard is far enough, you'll shoot him and hide behind the pillar. When he gets on the wall, you want to hide behind the pillar on the other side of the gate. He won't have line of sight so he can't shoot you, and from my experience he can't net and shoot you because there's no room for him to back up. Without his ranged attacks, he's easier than most normal elites in the instance.

It's a little tricky to jump into the right spot, but once you get the hang of it, the fight becomes easy. Farm him until you've got your boots (and pick up Troll Temper before you start, he can drop a ton)!

possible to solo as rogue lvl 46 with right tactic -- you have to sap/distract his friend far away, and when you engage zerillis you pull him slowly (so that he walks towards you and doesn't use his bow) up back the hill where no adds will aggro (not even his friend when it walks towards him) -- watch out for the two patrolling trolls too, here's video of it: https://youtu.be/Y9Mbm13U-RY

Soloing him as a lvl 44 rogue on wotlk classic with heirloom gear and subtlety spec. Pretty ez, just find a safe spot to not aggro mobs around, sap his patrolling partner, and pull him with a bow. spam hemorrage and evisceration, pop evasion then when it ends pop preparation and evasion again, if a mob is coming just blind him. Wait 8min30sec for him to respawn and farm him like that.

Confirm that this works. I have been farming him for a little bit.
Very easy as a hunter. Go into ZF. Used Eagle Eye to see if Zerillis is there; if not, reset. Once found, run through and feign death as needed until you make it to the wall at NE of the fountain. Chill there until he pats around. Send pet in to get agro. Focus attacks on Zerillis and until dead and loot. Do not kill the mob that pats wit him. Go back up the hill at the wall and FD. Let pet die. Rinse and repeat. DO not need to zone out. Stay on the hill until he respawns.
