Just got this on my bulladin yesterday tanking for leather and clothies. Chanted it with avalanche and man this blue gear shines! Wonder what a purple 2handed might do in cata!

Got this on my Paladin yesterday. Was my third time in instance, first time seeing this drop. It was hard, but after many tearful hugs and good-byes, I replaced my Quel'Delar.

The Axe only requires level 78. So how does one obtain it at 78? Dungeon tool doesn't let me queue.

How the hell are you going to get it if the instance requires 80 to enter?
Edit: asked GM, he's saying it is possible to enter the instance at 78, even though wowhead says minimum level is 80.

One of only a handful of weapons that allow 2h enhance shaman to be viable for a brief period as they level. Armed with various 77-79 cata greens, 78 cata dungeon blues, and this weapon with the 130 agi enchant, an enhance shaman could not only hold his own but likely 1-2shot players still in WotlK levelling gear.

Dual wielding the 1h axes would of course be more effective.

This is the only pre-80 2h melee weapon available that's from Cataclysm content with a Rare quality, making it the highest DPS weapon available below 80. Is the perfect item for any Warrior, Paladin or DK that's looking to "twink" out his character for the 75-79 PvP bracket to have the best available weapon. Well worth the effort to obtain it at 78 to anyone who puts in the effort.

Though Wowhead says that you can only enter the instance at 80, you're able to enter it at 78 if you can get a couple friends to bring you along for this axe.

Be careful! Hunters can actually roll Need on this! Even if you have something that's better, Warriors, Paladins and Death Knights, roll Need on it to make sure they don't get it!

Albeit the fact that this axe is able to be equipped at 78, most people will obtain it at level 80 with their first dungeon-queued run of Throne of Tides. Level 80 goes by extremely fast, and by the time you're 81 you're presented with many superior options, including Sword of the Bottomless Pit, Obsidium Executioner, Axe of Earthly Sundering (which doesn't even require a dungeon or money to buy, it is a quest reward), and Armagedillo's Tail. That being said, if you can manage to get a few friends or guild mates to run you at level 78, you'll probably dominate your PvP bracket for the last 2 levels you're there.

This is currently the best 79 twink strength 2h melee weapon. Because it is just over item level 300, you can enchant it with high-level enchants, such as Landslide and Avalanche.
