There are loads of Fathom Eel swarms (=schools) along the coast of Uldum. Easy to fish up, because there are almost no mobs near enough to aggro.

I have seen and fished Fathom Eel Swarms in Tol Barad as well.

I've been flying all along the coast with Find Fish turned on, and haven't seen any schools. Is this only fished in open water?

Not a death knight, shaman, priest, or carrying around a bajillion Elixirs of Water Walking? No problem! Every pool that spawns in Uldum is close enough to the shore that you don't even need them. There are also little slopes on the coast that drop off right next to the pool spawn points.

Can these only be fished in schools or is it possible to fish them elsewhere?

I have been fishing these from schools in Tol Barad Peninsula, to the northwest where the shipwrecked sailors are.

To fish these up, do NOT go to uldum, its simply too buggy with phasing issues... tol barad is where you wana be.

What level fishing skill is needed to catch these? Just curious as mine is not very high at the moment.
Thank you.

I can confirm schools of Fathom Eel are all over Uldum south coast - but phase out near Schnotzz.
Simply set your "find fish" in your tracking ability and fly along the coast until you see the yellow marker point.
Enjoy

I have had good luck fishing these around the Temple of Ammon. There seem to be a few reliable spawn points there with pretty short respawn times.

Is there some reason why I can not track this fish off the coast of Uldum? I can track them just fine in Tol Barad. I have completed all the quests in Uldum and have the achievement. I am able to see a single spawn pool at Schnottz landing but when i approach if phases same as others have said in previous posts. Any help that can be given would be helpful.
Is anyone else having the same issue?
评论来自
Honda400
Yes Rhinoloupe I have read the above posts but have yet to see anyone mention the specific quest line that phases the coast of Uldum. I have researched all the quests in Uldum and visited the site of each quest giver with no luck. To this day I can not find any missing quests to unphase the area. Has anyone had this issue that has fixed it and any tips for myself and others?

What is even worse is that I've ticketed GMs about the phased nodes even though I have completed everything in the zone and they have replied every time that gathering nodes are not phased and that another player simply got to the pool first....
Clearly these GMs don't know what they're talking about and should be reported as such; Blizzard needs to be made aware when their training program is ... lacking.
All nodes are affected by any phasing that happens to be in the area... and since Blizzard, in their infinite wisdom, used phasing nearly everywhere in Cataclysm,
many
nodes experience phasing of some kind. It's easy to see, all you need to do is fly back-and-forth over a phase line and watch those nodes vanish and reappear.
What Blizzard really needs to do at this point, however, is simply to make nodes "immune" to phasing, like those GMs seem to think they are. That way they're accessible to anyone at any point in questing. Enough of this being taunted by shiny yellow dots!

Fathom Eels are plentiful in the open waters of Vashj'ir. I used my path of frost to stand on the surface, and caught several right away.

You can fish these up from open water in Uldum now. Sitting just on the shore by schnottz landing fishing up other fish, i am getting some eels as well, no pools anywhere near me, phased or not.

The pools/nodes still exist, the problem is phasing. I've just spoken to a GM and it is an ongoing issue, that is being looked into.
What happens is this:
When a pools is fished it disappears and respawns somewhere else along the coastline, the problem is when the pools respawns at Schnott'z Landing. The pools here phase, doesn't matter wether you haven't even started Uldum, finished it or are doing the quest chains at Schnott'z landing. Because of this, people don't see them and therefore don't fish them, eventually all or almost all the pools end up respawned at Schnott'z Landing and until they get fished there they stay. As stated previously by someone. if you fish where a pools is (even thou it is phased) you do get the fish and they do come from the pools as the "That's A Lot of Bait" guild achievement proves. This then clears the pool and it will respawn, hopefully away from Schnott'z Landing.
So basically you have to spot the pool locations just before they phase as you enter Schnott'z Landing, then keep on that location as you cast, if you do it right you will get the fathom eel, 4 or 5 to a pool, then you can move back out of Schnott'z, spot another and fly back in. Total pain, but it works and is the only solution till Blizz fix it.
Hope this helps, it works for me, i got 7 stacks no problem (well apart from what i said above)
Quick update based on fishing today, numbers are not exact and it's only my theory based on today.
Along the coastline there are 24 possible fathom eel spawn pools, of these only 8 are ever active at any one point in time. Schnott'z Landing can have as a max 7 of the 8 active pools, leaving 1 pool that people can see and fish, however this pools can also phase if it spawns at the cradle of the ancients and you have completed Uldum, therefore it appears as if there are no longer fathom ell pools in uldum, until someone who knows the problem, fishes the phased pools.
As a hunter, you can use Eagle Eye, to view into Schnott'z Landing to locate the pools before flying in.

In Uldum I flew out of Ramkahen and followed the river south, taking a right at the coastline. The fish finder showed me fathom eel nodes all along the coast, more than any other type of fish. Things got odd at Schnotz's Landing as three nodes appeared on the mini-map and vanished as I approached. I continued on past this area and found another eel node out in the water, equipped with a little island for me to stand on at 15, 64. I got alot of eels and several volatile water out of this deal.
I got curious and continued to follow the coastline until it went north into Silithus, but didn't see any more fishing nodes past the one at 15, 64.

You were right about the Schnottz landing thing. After flying around Uldum on and off over the course of a few days and not finding any pools I took my hunter and used eagle eye and found the phased pools all around the boats there. It was a total pain but I managed to fish several of them. Now the eel pools are spawing all around Uldum again. Thanks!

Is anyone experiencing a weird in combat bug when fishing these up in TB at the shipyards? I get it anytime I'm fishing down by the water's edge and can't feign or log out. Usually have to quit the game and log back in.

Not just the nodes themselves, but also a radius of 100 yards or so around them, so that you can quickly tell if a player in another phase is beating you to the node. This wouldn't be as hard as it sounds, since most of the nodes are on terrain features that have the same shape in all phases.

Because
海鲜盛宴
is BoP, this is an exception to the rule that you have to level cooking to make gold with fishing. These can be sold raw at no loss. When I was closer to
宗师级渔夫
than to
中级烹饪
, I was disappointed that I'd have to fish Fathom Eel Swarm and dump some raw fish on the AH for whatever I could get. (I'd previously been fishing only the Shipwreck Debris nodes in TBP.) Then, I "dumped" the eels for upwards of 160g/stack. >:-)

1.) Portal to Tol Barad
2.) Pop a
水上行走药剂
3.) Walk up the river to Cape of Lost Hope and finish at Rustberg
4.) Fish all the pools of Fathom eels you find
5.) Result for only 10 minutes effort is 20+ eels

The only place in Uldum where i found some of these, were at cursed landing... three pools.... i fished up 12 eels.... no where else (and i was during daytime, and not many people around) i found pools of these...

Question, i have yet to test this but is it possible that these pools are also linked to the BlackBelly Mudfish? If so it might be helpful to note that for players having issues with finding pools. Because i know that it is the case for Highland Guppy and Deepsea Sagefish now.
If i can confirm it i will later.

Those darned fishes spawns during the night in Uldum. If you're trying to catch them during daytime you will end up with 20 after and hour or so.
I was there late last night (after 23:00 servertime) and I had schools all the way down southern coast in Uldum. So many that when I finished one, another one spawn right beside the old one.

Not sure if mentioned before, if you want to start on a new server with some gold to spend, fishinf Fathom Eel schools are the best way to get money quick without any help.
Start with a DK(assuming you already have a character above 55 on another server), level it up til you can get Path of Frost, it is vital for you to fish in Uldum which has alot of mobs at level 83-84.
Once you have learned Path of Frost, you could either go Zangamarsh to fish Steamboat Floatsam for "Find Fish" ability to trach fish pools, of course you can also skip that and go straight to Uldum to fish.
The best way is to buy a mage port to Dalaran, set your hearth there(you can go to Orgrimmar through the portal in Dalaran), and you can take the port to Caverns of Time(Tanaris) and walk to Uldum along the coastline using Path of Frost.
I get about 4-5 stacks an hour(you might get more than that because I'm doing various things while fishing), depending on your server, a stack can sell for around 300-400g, which means a potential 2000g+/hour, which isn't a small amount if you are starting on a new server from scratch with nothing to support you.

Hey peeps.
My first post @ wowhead so please be gentle. This is problaby a pretty dumb question, but im gonna ask it anyway.
Is this still Fishable from Open water in Vasj'ir`?
Found some elsangling.com or whatever and was pretty outdated. But some numbers showed about a 30% drop chance in open water.
Can't use my computer in a couple of weeks so i can't try this myself.
Thanks for any feedback, Cheers!

I have completed all of the quests in Uldum. I am not sure if it is because I have completed all of the quests and am no longer phasing in Uldum or if WoW has fixed the issues regarding players seeing the pools but I can see and fish Fathom Eel pools all along the coast of Uldum; just as the diagram at the top shows.

In Uldum, the pools are linked to the Blackbelly Mudfish pools so if you can't find any head upstream and pick off the freshwater pools to get the eels spawning again.

Let's just say that I am glad I laid in a nice supply of these early in the xpac because finding a pool up now at almost any time of day is getting to be pretty scarce. As often as not I can fly the entire fishable length of the Uldum coast and find zero up at all.
Fishing these open water in Uldum is a waste of time. The catch rate is, at best, 10%, and that is probably generous.

I've worked out that Fathom Eel won't spawn on the coast because the river is full of Blackbelly Mudfish. Over the last few days, I've tested this by fishing along the coast and finding no Pools of Fathom Eel. I had my guild members clear the river of Blackbelly Mudfish, and soon after, the coastline started to fill up with Fathom Eel. It was amazing how many Eels we could farm using this method of clearing the river.
It seems like the zone has a maximum number of fishing pools that can be up at one time, regardless of the type of fish. I will lodge a ticket to see if they respond.
