I picked one of these up a couple minutes ago. I was hoping it was a rare pet or something. It should be! :D

While playing a warlock, spawning the rat despawns your pet. So beware. Ate a shard only to get another Unconscious Dig Rat. =/

The rat will stay in the place where it was spawned (wont move around). If you aggro it without killing it, it will run around but will always reset back to where you spawned him. If it isnt killed it seems to stay around for a very long time. I just checked back on my rat that i spawned 4 hours ago and it was still there.

This would be worth farming if it spawned more than one rat... it doesn't which to me makes it more of an added hassel than anything...I'd rather not have to kill the rat twice to get the item I need =/

I recently dropped one in Silvermoon, a bit out of sight.

It's going to stay there for a very long time, noone knows how to get where it is :D

And I've sworn to keep the secret, so I can't say it on Wowhead. lolz

I hope to come back after 3 weeks of festival stuff and find it still scurrying about in that spot...

Which it probably will be, and I'll comment again confirming that it's permanent until someone kills it... lol

It seemed to me that this item tends to drop more if you kill the rat with weak attacks. Might have been a coincidence though.

A Shammiesv Wind Shear can be used to cause aggro without doing damage as well. With the right amount of timing and skill it can be used to misdirect/pull mobs to the tank.

As a rogue i also use this to take the flag in WSG, place it on the balcony, take flag shadow step to it and off i go. Easy way to take the flag vs Heavy defense groups

Just killed this today. Its useless other than for the fact that you get to kill a Dig Rat again. Its just a way to kill another Dig Rat for another chance to get a Dig Rat Stew recipe.

when the guy used it, my brother killed the rat and then offered to sell him the meat it dropped.

OK, been reading all the comments and I have one of the these, but none of the comments are very clear. What is this, and what does it do? Is this a pet or is this something that will run off as soon as I revive it? If so, what good is it if it just runs off. Why are there comments about it being killable? Why does it go for money at the auction house? I need answers! LOL

Its a thing you get from Bael Modan from the dig rats. Kill alot of them and youll eventually get an unconsious one. If you use the item it basicly just spawns another dig rat, which you can then kill.

These things are just unique items that add a bit of humor to the game...i had one i kept in my inventory for a few months and everytime i would link it to my friends they would just bust up laughing...i ended up puttin it on the ah the other day as a joke and someone paid 50g for it lmao...so now i'm back to get another

Woot. killed 90 rats, finally got one, ahd about 30 seconds of happiness when some BE palli came over and killed it. quite pointless really.

But for those of you who are interested anyways, The rats are located in The dig site and the building, i was able to make a loop that fit in perfectly with their spawn time.

i let mines go, i was setting 1G 50S bid and 3G buyout, long but no 1 took it, i used it in orgrimmar and i cried like hell when i clicked and smashed it with my vanquisher's sword in 1 hit, and all i got was a dead dig ratT.T

on the llane server i got on my lvl 11 warrior and was exploring barrens found a place walked around found boxes and killed rats the first i killed dropped a dig rat and im like ? so i go out side and fall off cliff trying to jump onto a pillar found more rats and boxes i was there for like an hour killing em i got like 120 dig rats and 3 unconcious ones sold last one 7g it was funny the person who bought it used it then shot it with his bow to get his skill up

I let him go in Thunder Bluff just to see what it would do... it didn't *do* anything (well, it wiggled it's nose and looked sorta cute). Then I faerie fired it and it ran away very fast and came back. Then someone killed it and I /mourned. *sigh*

Easy enough to get, u just go to dig site in barrens and kill rats there, u can kill 9 rats in respawn cicle and it drops about on 50-th kill, but the one thing i don't yet understand that it's kinda it won't drop if u kill rat with powerfull spells or hits, when i killed em with fireblast for 500 dam i killed 100 and no drop, but then i started to kill them with frostbolt level 1 or 2 and finishing deed with bare hands for 4 damage each hit, i get it dropped on sometime 20 and sometime up to 60 kill... still no idea of use of it, sold about 10 of them for 10g each, but i guess it must be used somewhere near some cat or something like that... still no idea...

I was only using bare hands to kill them. It dropped on the 17th rat. Not sure if there's anything to do with low dmg. I used the item, it has a 3 sec casting time and the item disappears after use. Summons a regular Dig Rat I killed that and only dropped a Dig Rat.

- In Classic WoW, Unconscious Dig Rat summons a Dig Rat with 42 Health Points.
- The summoning process has a short cast time that can be done while walking/running.
- Unconscious Dig Rat is Unique meaning only 1 can be in your inventory at a time.
- It can be sent through the mail to allies. They can have many of them in the Mailbox.

Dig Rat:
- Dig Rat cannot attack. It can't receive Buffs but can get Debuffs.
- Its interaction type behaviour is that of a critter NOT a pet/Hunter pet.
- It's main appeal is the possible triggering of certain effects (ex: Elemental Focus) before engaging in a fight.

Fun fact: if you "let it go" as a hunter it will despawn your active pet while doing it.
