This will, as the original PTR name states, be one of the new Ulduar neck pieces. It is available through purchase at a PTR price of 16 .

This appears to be a revamping of the Favor of the Dragon Queen. The only thing is that the quest necklace from Eye of Eternity is better imo, with more AP and crit, plus the possibility to customize it with a gem of personal preference.

But from another point of view, it appears to be a solid tanking neck for feral druids in 3.1. It may not provide the stamina of traditional tank amulets (about 20 or so less stamina on this one) but it gives a hefty pile of agility to boot. And that, coupled with the added crit rating will work towards the new Savage Defense ability of Bears.

This item seems under-budgeted to me, especially compared to Favor of the Dragon Queen, which is the same item level. Compared to Favor, this item has:

+21 agi
+6 stam
-5 crit rating
-26 AP
+15 Armor Pen
-blue socket
-8 AP (socket bonus)

I do not see how 21 agi and 15 armor pen make up for the loss of a socket, some crit, and a sizeable amount of AP. This item needs to be buffed.

For a survival hunter this isn't too bad.

Fully raid buffed w/ Broach of the Wailing Night:

63 agi x .15 (lightning reflexes) = 72.45 agi
72.45 agi x .10 (blessing of kings) = 79.695 agi
79.695 agi x 0.25 (expose weakness) = 19.92375 ap (expose weakness buff)
79.695 ap (from agi) + 19.92375 ap (expose weakness buff) = 99.61875 ap
99.61875 ap x .10 (random class 10% ap buff) = 109.580625 ap

69 stam x .10 (survivalist) = 75.9 stam
75.9 stam x .10 (blessing of kings) = 83.49 stam

Factoring in the crit from agi, we get -0.968464 crit rating, or -0.021103 % crit chance. The -17.507325 ap also includes the difference of 6.325 agi.

So overall,

+72.6 health
-17.507325 ap
-0.021103 % crit chance
+ 1.21755 % armor reduction

is the difference in raid stats when you equip this necklace over Favor of the Dragon Queen.

Again, this is assuming full raid buffs. Not bad for a 19 token necklace, since the other one requires a drop from 25m naxx and a 25m maly clear.

Please correct any mistakes you may have found, (there probably are some math ones or something, someone give it a check for me).

How does this neckpiece size up against Favor of the Dragon Queen? I'm a Fury Warrior so I imagine it would not make too much of a difference?

65 Str for Battlegaurd = 130 APx1.2 (for fury) = 156 AP vs 86 AP for Wailing Night a difference of 70 AP. This is the only benefit the Battlegaurd choker has over Wailing Night.

So lets look at the rest of the stats:

Crit is unchanged

46 ArP on WN is worth about twice as much as 45 hit BGC

63 agility on WN is worth about twice as much as the 70 AP bonus of BGC

And this is using conversions for a Fury warrior. For Arms, you get 26 AP less from the Str conversion and the 45 Hit on BGC is worth nothing above the hit cap, and ArP is worth even more.

Ancient Pendant of Arathor is better for Rogues than this item and is very easy to get from H ToC, save your chips for other stuff.

Even though some sites rank the Battle choker a bit lower dps than this Broach or H ToC neck, the hit rating will be very important. Most of the new patch gear loses hit rating in favor of armor penetration. So as you begin to replace your T7 gear for the new pieces, you hit rating will suffer dramatically. If you don't want to spend you money on +hit gems and enchants, than I suggest the Battle Choker neck piece over the other two. They are so close dps wise and you are going to need that +hit. If you are wary about it, save this purchase until you have already purchased everything else. At that point you will see the dramatic decrease in the hit rating.

Can anyone recommend whether it's worth downgrading my Emblems of Triumph to Conquest to get this? I don't see any neck item the same or better available with higher emblems. I'm a Survival hunter and most of my gear is epic 200.

The listed cost is wrong, Vendors sell this for 405 JP, not 243.
