Comparing the Death-Warmed Belt to the Trollwoven Girdle, it seems pretty clear to me that the Death-Warmed Belt is better. The Trollwoven Belt has expertise, and 20 more AP, but the expertise cap is very easy to achieve on a rogue, and the Death-Warmed Belt has 2 sockets, as well as crit rating and hit.

What I'm wondering is if you'll just be buying the patern, or whether it'll be a drop, as it's much better than the Trollwoven Belt, though a fair bit more expensive.

The "unknown" item needed (x6) for crafting this belt are called Runed Orbs. Their source is currently not available.

You can hypothesize that these new Leatherworking Patterns will be purchasable with Runed Orbs similar to the previous tier of LW patterns using Arctic Fur. Due to current systems in place in WotLK for the acquisition of Leatherworking patterns, I find it unlikely that they are a random pattern drop in Ulduar.

Additionally, due to the current complete lack of Raid Dungeon reputation factions, it's also a safe assumption that Ulduar will not have a faction attached to it for Reputation Rewards.

Easily the "best in slot" for druid tanks. However going off the fact that it need 6 of the new orbs, it won't be cheap to make initially.

It's an "Ulduar-wide" pattern, could be dropped by any boss in the instance. For example, we get ours last night from XT-002 Deconstructor.

According to the Hunter Spreadsheet, this is currently BiS, probably because of the gem slots. On the other hand, it doesn't really outdo Belt of the Ardent Marksman to the point where one could justify using six runed orbs. It's a 6.76 DPS difference, to be exact.

Consider how many bosses it takes to collect enough emblems for the belt, versus how many bosses it takes to collect six orbs -- that you must roll on, spend DKP on, or see going to the guild bank, depending on your loot rules and progression method. Or consider what you can simply buy from selling orbs on the auction house. And keep in mind that 24 other people are making the same calculations when these come up in the loot table.

I imagine the situation is different for rogues and druids. But for hunters, I'd stick with the Ardent Marksman. Those other two classes should benefit a lot more from this upgrade.

Edit: I should add that the DPS delta on the spreadsheet will vary according to your gear. I've seen it go from 16.5 DPS to less than 5. As long as it's within that range, I don't ever crafting these things for my hunter.

The introduction of epic-quality gems in 3.2 has increased the value of this belt substantially.
It is without a doubt the best option pre-Tier 9 content drops for raiding rogues, with Belt of the Twilight Assassin being a possible alternative if the expertise is needed.

With a belt buckle installed, this belt can support 3 gems - allowing the possibility of a large amount of additional agility or attack power.

Soul-Devouring Cinch and this are equally as good for a Druid tank. The Cinch is ranked higher due to the Expertise gain, but really it depends on what stats you need. This however is probably far easier to acquire since its crafted and the mats aren't very difficult to attain. Although Belt of the Twilight Assassin is even easier to get and has better stats than the Death-warmed Belt but you will be losing the 2 gem slots making this belt better for Stamina and Agility stacking.
