This is currently the highest +hit rating trinket (or item) available in the game (PTR) per date.

The only two compareable trinkets would be:

Hard to say whether it would be an upgrade to Dying Curse or not.

Purely from my perspective i don't think replacing hit gems with spell power/crit/haste gems and then equipping this over Dying Curse would be an upgrade.

I suppose it depends on where the Hit you would be losing was and how far off capped you were as to whether it was an upgrade or not.

The current numbers provided by wowhead is wrong - 107 Hit Rating does not calc. to 4% - but to around 3,26% @ Level 80.

This trinket is great for a dual-spec mage who specs Arcane and Fire/TTW. Fire requires 6% more hit than arcane and the only way an normally arcane-specced mage is going to get that hit is to regem his gear with +hit gems. This trinket could be swapped in and give you 4% of that hit right there.

As to weather this is better then Dying Curse. As I look over the gear coming out of Ulduar, I see less hit gear then there was in Naxx. Now this has to do with Naxx being a place where people are still reaching hit caps, but still if you go into Ulduar replacing all of your hit gear you could find yourself in trouble fast. I believe the Living Flame is worth it once you take into account the compensation for how the gear differs. Whatever you do don't take this trinket lightly. In the future I can see every caster wearing this just like they are now with Dying Curse.

On a side note I also have to agree with Truant, A use able effect far exceeds a proc effect. Being a mage i know that Arcane Power + Icy Veins + Heroism = god for 20 sec. If I could time my trinkets for that by God I would! (funny side note i raid as fire) But the math is no less important. Fact is this trinket is better, and I think it's true worth is not seen yet do to the lack of Ulduar gear thus far available.

Currently as an elemental shaman, I am using this with Dying Curse, and absolutely no hit gems. I am steadily phasing most of my hit gear out and replacing it with more hit, crit and spell power. When I do the math, for raiding, my guild always brings a shadow priest, meaning that my magic hit number is 289. Those two trinkets put me at 178 just to start off with. Currently I am over the hit cap by 20 points so even as I upgrade pieces further into Ulduar, I can look for a better combination of other stats and worry a tad less about hit numbers.

Also, I run this in my enhancement gear set. 107 hit goes a long way when dual wielding, and the spell power use effect can be fairly handy at the right times.

I plan on using both Dying Curse (which I already have) and this one (witch I hope to get soon) with a combined Hit of 178 that leaves all my other gear much more open for swapping with out having to re-gem or passing on upgrades to balance my hit. I tend to always run into more gear that are not trinkets that give huge upgrades but they lack the hit to make it worth equipping at the time. There are probably a few other trinkets that are better than combining these two but I find that armor gives an overall stat upgrade where trinkets focus on 1 or 2 stats.

***Edit Update***
Once I get the Head, Gloves, and Leggings for my Balance set it will give me 176 Hit witch would put me around 352 hit, way over the hit cap for balance druids so not sure if I still would keep this combo with that. I would need to work with my spec removing my hit talents (but that isn't relevant to this post) ;)

Given the fact that Mages are getting a sick amount of hit off of their T8, I think this will be a trink they will want early but abandon later in favor of more SP or Crit.

Very nice for meta/ruin warlocks. Both metamorphosis (with 3/3 nemesis, ) and this trinket have a 2 min cd, so it will always be up when you have your 20% damage bonus.

It's true that there may be less gear pieces with hit rating on them in Ulduar, but there is substantially MORE HR on the pieces that do have it. And also, I wouldn't remove hit talents unless you absolutely need the points elsewhere. Granted I don't know much about Oomkin's but for other classes the hit talents often have other useful effects built into them as well. Eg for mages, Arcane focus reduces the mana cost of arcane spells, precision does the same...

Living Flame is actually part of my Destro Lock T8.5 raiding build (obviously still in progress). I found that huge +107 Hit comes in handy to leverage the stronger +Haste gear in Ulduar, little of which has any +Hit. It's also among the easier caster trinkets to get, and it's a "Use" trinket... two more big pluses right there!
