Comparison to Sigil of the Unfaltering Knight.

As far as Avoidance is concerned Sigil of Deflection adds a total of 1.27%. The downside to this is some people use Unfaltering to Combo the Defender's Code and Valor Medal of the First War. The second downside is the way you proc them. Unfaltering uses Icy Touch (Always first cast in many cases); Deflection uses Rune Strike which you will ususally spam but, you require it to first proc itself.

Factor in the GCD into both of these the Deflection has to be triggered again after 1-2 other spell casts where as Unfaltering you can leave running for a good 13-14 Casts+.

So as far as this Sigil goes it has yet to be seen if it really is worth it. Depending on the trinkets you can get in Ulduar some people might still favor Unfaltering over this.

Not to mention Icebound Fortitude scales off defense so there's no reason to keep your defense at 540

I think one of the biggest reasons people may go for this over Unfaltering, is its not based on IT. Now that theirs a new glyph that lets you use a single blood rune to refresh both frost fever/blood plague on your current target, you effectively save yourself 1 rune. So by using this you also are able to glyph so you dont have to use IT, except as your opener.

Just got this today, dropped of Razorscale, ulduar 25man.
Although i gemmed stamina and used the "unfaltering knight" sigil, to get defense capped for bosses,i would prefer this on non-boss level mobs, for the avoidance.
A cool addition is, that the proc is called "Shadow of death" and actually makes your unitframe show you as *dead*, atleast it does in Xperl, doesnt show anything in std UI.

It's probably because Xperl flashes that for https://www.wowhead.com/cata/spell=40251 on the Gorefiend fight and it's the same spell name.

Kinda odd that a Sigil of Deflection doesn't have parry proc on it.

Edit: Maybe you didn't understand the true meaning behind my statement.

Deflect: to bend or turn aside; turn from a true course or straight line; Parry.

A very nice sigil for DKs who don't like to use IT in thier rotation. As a Blood Tank, I currently use the Heart Strike Sigil, instead of Unfaltering, simply because I prefer to use the Glyph of Disease do the refreshing for me, saving me more death/blood runes for more Heart Strikes.

Any decent DK tank will do thier best to keep Rune Strike at the ready, so this sigil not only helps open up for ANOTHER Rune Strike, but adds a nice little chunk of Dodge as well. Myself, many of my abilities are macroed to activate Rune Strike after use:

/Cast Heart Strike
/Cast Rune Strike

Comparing to Sigil of the Vengeful Heart, that all depends on your rotations as a tank. Personally, as my spec, I don't have many issues with TPS (Even against T.75 mages, I'm in entry naxx/heroic gear.)

All in all, this is a very nice tanking Sigil, despite how hard it would be to get. As with many things of being a Death Knight, it all depends on how you play.

You will note that (https://www.wowhead.com/cata/spell=64964) Blizzard calls this the t8 tank relic. It seems like this is the sigil blizzard intended to go with top-end tanking sets. (as opposed to Sigil of the Unfaltering knight, etc)

Look. I'm not gonna say this is good or bad. I'm just gonna say that since I have rune strike macro'd into all of my attacks, it'll be up at all times. I'm also gonna say that if you dual wield as a death knight tank (I know. Not alot of that going on.) and if you have these macros, and if you have this, you will be runic striking like crazy.

I'm not up on my dk tanking, but I'd like to know what this will do for your threat if you completely change your play style around it. Anyone?

This sigil is a slap in the head by Blizzard to those whoring for stamina at any chance. A blue trinket giving stamina is simply laughable to be chosen instead of a T8+ avoidance. Of course gem and enchant stamina at any chance but only the tier items. Don't go using ridiculously low stamina/avoidance items just because they give at least 1 hp more.

Now, this one is further into the right direction of real tanking: Avoidance will proc it more, and if it procs more it gives more threat and that in turn helps its own proc. Brilliant.

Or, seeing as how sigils can be switched during combat, you could have 2 macros.

/use Sigil of the Unfaltering Knight
/cast icy touch

/use Sigil of Deflection
/cast rune strike

Why yes, they can be macro'd, but I have to ask: Do you actually USE this? Because I tried your macro here and it just didn't work. There are two problems that I see:

1. You should use /equip Sigil , not /use Sigil. I tried this to verify and /use has no effect whatsoever.
2. You are forgetting the global cooldown that replacing a sigil (or any weapon for that matter while in combat) triggers, which can severely mess up your rotations. I tried your macro and it just didn't work. I had to click/press multiple times to get it to work, presumably because of the GCD. And it just plain sucked.

In conclusion, this method would have to be used only under extreme circumstances due to GCD lag which F's up the rotation.
