Less stamina than Armor Plated Combat Shotgun (assuming socketed with a Solid Sky Sapphire), though hands down better on any other stat. This creates a similiar situation as with the BC tanking guns leaving the engineering piece the top stamina piece while raid drops excel in other stats.

So while protection warriors definitely want to get this, you might hold on to your trusty Combat Shotgun if there ever arises the need for stamina stacking (especially once epic gems are available the advantage grows).

Finally a real ranged tanking piece for a geared warrior. That ilvl 200 gun which is the only and the best tanking ranged pre 3.1 has always bothered me as the rest of my gear being ilvl 213 and 226.

Ok... its got great stats but in my honest opinion this is completely and totally stupid. If they want to put a tanking weapon in the game, that's great but don't do it as a BOP boss item. The only ones in the game that will benefit from this item is warriors. Death Knights, Druids, and Paladins can't use guns and this weapon offers no benefit to a DPS class. They should either make this an engineering recipe or make it BOE that way it has some value to a raid with no warriors.

This ranged weapon along with every other ranged weapon item level 226 got buffed. It now does 684 top end damage.

I'm a hunter, and I was given this gun since no tank wanted it over me. It was a huge upgrade for me from The Final Voyage, so I figured I'd take it. I've been running Naxx since December, and I've not gotten Envoy of Mortality in all that time. Likewise, I've been in all but one Ulduar 25 lockdown so far, and I've seen zero ranged weapon drops.. It is a tank gun, sure, but tanks should be considerate here. If a hunter is after this item, ask them what their current weapon is. No-one should bother replacing Envoy of Mortality with this weapon, since there are 2 DPS-specific ranged weapons in the instance anyway and it is not a significant enough upgrade.

However, if they have a crappy bow from Naxxramas 10 or 25, let them have this baby. Blizzard recently upped all ranged weapons' DPS by a lot, but only Envoy of Mortality from the old instances was affected. The two second best weapons from Naxx 25 have over 40 DPS less than this gun, it will be a huge upgrade for anyone using them. The hunter can always have this item ticketed to you if they pick up either the bow or gun later! If they don't drop, the hunter will be glad he took this one. :) I know I was.

Ive played a warrior and a hunter and imo if your a hunter your stupid to get this... i mean grats it does more DPS but how much crit rating and AP did you give up for stam Def Rating dodge and hit?

This has to be the highest polycount weapon in the game. For god's sake, the barrel is made out of 12 sides instead of the regular 3-6 :O performance-killer

Anyway, if a hunter is given this weapon in a pug without an enchanter, it's okay I guess, but anyone saying it could easily be used by a hunter needs to see a shrink or so, because this is the final stage of "hunter weapon" disease. Next thing you'll notice is a hunter rolling on cloth and shields, and then they are beoynd any help.

There really are items meant for hunter somewhere in the game. Honest. Word. They are. This one is not.

For some reason I have no difficulty at all picturing a huntard bludgeoning someone to death with this thing. Which says more about my poor, WoW-ravaged mind than anything else.
