This is one of the best trinkets currently for a resto druid. Spirit should be your higher stat, so this trinket gives an intellect buff with a spirit proc. According to elitistjerks, it gives better regen than the spirit version of this trinket.

OK for holy paladins interested in this trinket.
With Holy guidance the 90 int from the trinket will give you roughly 1.15 crit and 18 spell power, and will give you 393.75 mana extra from your Divine Plea.

The proc will give you roughly 3.85% crit and 60 spell power during the duration of the proc. If you use divine plea during the proc you will gain 1312.5 mana more than you would have without the proc.

If you assume that the trinket is up 1/3 of the time (as it should if the cooldown is 45 seconds) this will average out to give you 2.43% crit and 38 spell power for the course of a fight(this is including the 90 int on the trinket.

If you use Divine Plea only during the trinkets uptime you will gain an extra 1706.25 mana more than if you did not have the trinket equipped. This averages out to around 94.79 mp/5 as you will only be able to use divine plea once every 90 seconds (due to the trinket cooldown not coinciding with DP's cooldown).

If you use Divine Plea whenever it is up it will only coincide with the trinket cooldown every 3 minutes, greatly diminishing the usefulness of the trinket.

This all assumes you have holy guidance and 5/5 divine intellect.

Does the 45 second cooldown start when it procs, or when the proc ends?

In other words, does it proc at time 0, the buff drops at time 15, and then it is ready to fire again at time 45, or at time 60?

Makes quite a difference whether it is up for 15 seconds of every 45 (33.3%, or essentially another 100 of your biggest stat) or 15 of every 60 (25%, or 75 of your biggest stat).

As a shaman (Int highest ability and spirit means little to us) im very disappointed for how much it cost me to make with this trinket. I took the +90 int version.

MP5 laughlable.
Its so small, i question if its even working correctly. im not getting those number that i read or hoped.

This is the best trinket out there for a Discipline Priest with 5/5 Rapture, being better by far than the Spirit version.

During the proc, this will add you 5265 mana to your mana pool (considering 15% Int from talents and 2% Int from Meta Gem). This causes you to gain arround 132 more mana each time your Rapture "proccs" to it's max.

For a mage, you get +90 Int and 300Int on proc

So on proc, your Int score increases by 390

Yes... i have this trinket on my full t7.5 resto druid. As long as spirit is your top stat which as a resto druid it should be, you will benifit more from this constant mana than the mp5.

question as a holy paladin

i'm currently equipped with Darkmoon Card: Illusion (+100 SP, free 1200 mana every 5min) and my guildy holy paladin is equipped with Darkmoon Card: Greatness (+90int, proc-+300int), and i want to know the main difference between the two.

Illusion is pretty straight forward, static 100 SP and whenever you think you need extra mana, pop trinket

but as for Greatness, when it procs you will gain 300 int, not calculating Divine Intellect and Kings just for the sake of easy calculation, you will gain 4500 mana

-say your mana pool is 20000 and you used half of your mana (so 10000/20000)
-Greatness procs (14500/24500)
-you use your extra 4500 mana on healing (10000/24500)
-proc fades (10000/20000)

so is this basically what happens with Darkmoon Card: Greatness?

The Int boost can benefit a priest using Shadowfiend, as it returns mana based on the priest's max mana.

I was thinking of grabbing this for my Paladin so I thought I would compare it with what is widely considered to be one of the strongest paladin healing trinkets in the game: Soul of the Dead. https://www.wowhead.com/cata/spell=60537

The on equip for these trinkets are basically interchangable for me. I socket int currently but if I felt the need I could resocket crit after losing soul of the dead for this Darkmoon card.

That leaves only the procs to compare

Soul of the dead's proc gives around 75 mp5

Darkmoon Card's proc gives 300 int
gives 379.5 int with kings and Divine intellect
gives 5692 max mana
gives about 21mp5 from replenishment assuming a. the trinket buff is up 1/3 of the time and b. replenishment has a 90% up time.

If I use divine plea once on the proc in a 6 minute fight I gain an additional 20 mp5 for a total 41 mp5.
If I use divine plea twice on the proc in a 6 minute fight I gain an additional 40 mp5 for a total 61 mp5.

The proc gives about 2.28% crit while it is up - equivalent to about 104.7 crit rating.

The proc gives about 76 spell power while it is up.

Seems to me that Darkmoon Card: Greatness is at least as good as Soul of the dead if you can hit the proc with about 1 out of 3 divine pleas.

I have 581 Sta, 784 Int, and 373 Spi. The card says "When you heal or deal damage you have a chance to gain Greatness, increasing your Strength, Agility, Intellect, or Spirit by 300 for 15 sec. Your highest stat is always chosen" However, for about 90% of the time this does stand true, and it procs the Int buff, but every now and then, it procs the Spi buff. Can someone explain this for me?

Something I was experimenting with (because it seemed to proc at random times):

If you are not at full health and gain health, via the natural spirit health regen, it can proc the trinket as if you had healed yourself, although you didn't cast a spell.

This is still a good trinket for a Holy Pally. Easy to get alternatives are Tears (from ToC5 Normal, Greatness is better than Tears) and the Int trinket from 50 Triumph badges.

Also, not a bad trinket for Arcane Mages.

It may be a bit late, but with Intellect affecting spell power in pre-Cata 4.0, this trinket will be a very nice start for a fresh 80 spellcaster. Never mind the fact the deck is still selling for body-bags of gold to physical dps.

I don't understand this card.
I'm a priest. If I gain 300 intelect for 15 sec, what does that mean? That my mana will increace 3000 (300 intelect =+- 3000 mana), and after 15 sec, jump dowm 3000? So, to make a good use of this, I would have to use 3000 mana in 15 secs?

It's more expensive than Darkmoon Card: Illusion, but besides the great increase in intelect (90), I don't see much more in this card. I get 100 spell power from Darkmoon Card: Illusion (ok 90 intelect is better but not huge loss), 1500 damage absorved and 1500 mana with no time limite to be used.

Of couse Darkmoon Card: Greatness can give me 300 intelect more than once, but it's chance. Will it hapen more than once in a arena fight? Doubt it. Maybe once every 50 fights.

I don't know ifthe same thing is happening wit you guys, but I did naxx for trash mob, about 25 times in heroic!
It dropped to me just when I did naxxramas in NORMAL mode... It never dropped to me in heroic.
So, if you are trying hard to get it and it's not dropping, try to farm theses trash mobs in normal instead of heroic.
Maybe this advice can save a lot of time for you guys.

There are severe problems with using this trinket as a Holy Paladin.

If you do not cast your Divine Plea because you want to wait for the proc you cast 3 for every 4 Divine Plea you could have used. This results in a negative mp5. You'd be better off using no trinket then.

If you cast Divine Plea each time when its ready and start with the second proc, you can gain SOME Mp5. I calculated it through on the basis of actual data instead of a hypothetical situation.

Without proc it gives you 2277 (=11385) per tick, with proc 2550 (12750) mana on an average t10 (ilevel 260) geared Paladin in a ICC25 Raid.

Result: 1365 Mana if you use it with the proc.

You still have to use Divine Plea on CD since you get even less MP5.

In 240 seconds you can sync the proc about two times, two times you miss it. You get 2730 mana more.
Divine Plea and Greatness are 15 seconds, chances are you miss at least one tick but that is a different issue.

So with perfect use, no issues with the timing you get 56,8 Mp5 out of the synergy with Divine Plea. There are ways to utilize it better, particular if you do not need every Divine Plea but then you have no mana issues and you do not need to be concerned about MP5. This is not theoretical number crunching, this is based on the results in raids so all talents and buffs are covered.

Conclusion: This trinket is a solid choice until you have better available, but certainly not the right choice for endgame since most trinkets there feature a significantly higher return in both Mp5 and Spellpower.
