For Garrote Rank 8 witch is 135dmg every 3 secs for 18 secs (6 ticks of dmg). This boost garrote base dmg to 195.75 and since it makes it 3 secs shorter. You only get 5 ticks of dmg.

Garrote base dmg before = 810dmg
Garrote base dmg after glyph = 978.75dmg

keep in mind that Garrote also uses 18% of your attack power and the above was calculated without attack power in mind.

By saying "decreases the duration by 3 second" does this affect silence too? I hope not!

Maybe I am missing something, but the dmg per tick for Garrote rank8 is 102 not 135.

So instead of 102dmg for 6 ticks, you have 147.9dmg per tick for 5 ticks.

Garrote base dmg before = 612dmg
Garrote base dmg after glyph = 739.5dmg

Garrote Rank10 ticks for 119dmg. This increases it to 172.55 per tick.

And the tooltip marks AP contribution at 7%, not 18%.

So at base 1500 AP:
Without Glyph: 1344 (119 + 1500 * 0.07) * 6 = 1344
With Glyph: 1387.75 (172.55 + 1500 * 0.07) * 5 = 1387.75
Difference: 3.2%

Please show me if I am wrong or let me know if they just changed it recently.

My garrote ticks for 204 now.

204 * 6 ticks = 1224

Glyph adds 20% damage:
1224 * 1.2 = 1468.8

Damage per tick over 5 ticks:
1468 / 5 = 293.76

So mine goes from 204 per tick to ~293 per tick.

With this glyph, the blood splatter talent and the oppurtunity talent garrote will take 70%(?) more dmg! And that's pretty insane.I'll maybe go for a bleed spec ;P

All this glyph does is apply your total Garrote damage 3 seconds faster. Might have PvP value, but since garrote should even be used in PvE, unless silence is needed, back away from this glyph.

Some math to back this up. Used rank 10 Garrote and, if memory serves, my own AP with raid buffs.

(119 + 3500 * 0.07) * 6
(119 + 245) * 6
364 * 6 = 2184

(119 + 3500 * 0.07) * 5 * 1.2
(119 + 245) * 5 * 1.2
364 * 5 * 1.2 = 2184

btw, it doesn't matter mathematically if you add the 20% dmg to total or tick damage, aslong as you do it after counting AP modifier.

Master of Subtlety(10% Gar) + Opportunity(20% Gar) + Bloodsplatter (30% Gar / Rup) + Glyph(20% Gar)
Premeditation + Shadowstep (20% Gar / Rup) + Initiative +Serrated blades (30% Rup)

So am I understanding with these talents and glyph that after a premed and shadowstep you can garrote for 247% and have an immediate 203% 4-point rupture ready?

1764 Garrote = 4357
1993 4pt Rupture = 4046
= 8403ish damage from 65 energy? (included dirty deeds)

All math aside, if you are looking for a good glyph to level with, this one is great. Garrote is my standard opener while leveling, so it gets a good workout.

If you decide to 消失 you could apply another 5 seconds of silence...thats a staggering 13 seconds of silence in pvp against a single target! As far as I know silence is not subject to diminishing returns so this is a real caster killer.
