I got this Trinket from Heigan on our first Naxx clearing.

It's an internal Cooldown wich seems to be ~25-30 seconds.
The effect proccs from more or less everything ( Mounting up, Creating a Spellstone, porting into a zone and getting debuff "honoreless Target") :D

Picked this trinket up from Maexxna last night and it does indeed proc on just about anything.
It has found a permanent place in my equipment whether I need the hit or not as the proc is quite frequent (45s internal cooldown, as mentioned previously) and insanely powerful.
It is absolutely amazing combined with Sundial of the Exiled as they often proc at the same time due to similar chance + cooldown, even more amazing with Icy Veins / Combustion / Bloodlust / whatever else you can muster active at the same time, incredible burst.

Got this last night from Grobbulus.

It does not proc from lightning shield or water shield and I can confirm it has at least 45 second internal cooldown. I was critting Lava Bursts for 11.5K when it proced with my sundial.

Definately best-in-slot caster trinket for any class that only gets 3% hit from talents.

srsly, can does anyone know of a link that proves the 45 sec int cooldown cause just got it off Instructor Razuvious so it truly is a zone drop but used it on horsemen afterwards and seems to proc every 25-35 seconds... it is sooo sick gave me a 300 dps boost on bosses

It stacks with the Sundial of the Exiled thus a combined spellpower of 1355 for up to 10 sec. Makes for very good reading on the damage meters.

It also procs from bandages and professions, e.g. creating a potion in alchemy.

As with other trinkets which do not specify "harmful spells" for the proc, this can activate while using buffs, profession abilities., etc. The 71 hit rating alone is good, but matched by the blue heroic instance trinket Mark of the War Prisoner . However, the real gem of this is the spell power proc. On sustained dps fights it will average out to be a constant 100+ spell power buff. Your mileage may vary, but this is the best trinket in the game for reaching the hit cap, and I definitely recommend working around your other slots/gems so that this can fit into your hit cap itemization.

Also, as a trinket slot it is VERY easy to swap out without messing up whatever gear plan you have. I use this whenever we do NOT have a shadow priest or boomkin giving the raid an additional 3% hit chance, then swap to another trinket if we do have such a source. very easy, no mess. no regemming, nada.

Also note that the value for hit% above is i think off melee hit, which while are both benefitting from hit rating, they do not benefit at the same rate. In-game tooltip gives this a value of 2.71 hit chance, very close to the 3% hit chance debuff of said classes.

This doesn't drop in the 10 man version right? It's pretty much the last item my character needs. (Ele shaman has full valorous and this item would be the cherry on top!) But someone paid over 100 dkp last night for it which was more than I could afford heh.

A great trinket for any DPS caster. If used with https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=37873 it creates a nice solid 144 hit, however the only problem with this, is you assume you're not going to find a better trinket and rely too much on the two trinkets for hit. However, as well as the nice hit, if you use Mark of the prisoner when Dying Curse as proc'd, you'd get 1111 spell power, a nice tidy bit of spell power for any player.

Of course, if this trinket gets you your desired amount of hit then they is a number of nice trinkets to go with this:

I guess it wasn't a troll and you are a horrible DK that doesn't know how his stats work.

But to answer your question, yes it adds spell power for everyone BUT death knights, spell power items DO NOT add spell power to death knight spells, strength adds attack power which is then converted into your spell power and that is how you gain more.

This item is not for a DK...

Just to add my 2 cents:

As an Enhancement Shaman, this trinket looks rather nice...

Obviously, you would NEVER want to roll against any casters who want this trinket, but if you find yourself in a position to get your hands on this without opposition, I'd snatch it up.

With Enhancement Shaman casting quite a bit in WotLK (Earth Shock and 5 stack Maelstrom LB/CL), I can see the proc being a bonus on top of the huge amount of +hit on this trinket.

And with Shaman seeking to max out spell hit after melee hit and expertise, this trinket is a godsend.

But to reinforce what I said earlier: Don't even think about trying to roll against a caster for this trinket.

I wish this was a 'use' dmg bonus (even if the amt of dmg needed to be reduced) because the random proc makes stacking buffs hard / inconvenient. Most raiding mages will have all their cooldowns macro'd for when BL is cast and if you take this and the sundial, you effectively lose one of your cd's, reducing the power of your 'burn cycle' abilities. Here's hoping they'll release something similare to https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=37873 in Ulduar.

Either this trinket had it's drop rate severely nerfed or I'm just really unlucky. 7th week already since I've been waiting for it to drop again (it used to drop 2 times a night when our guild first started to do naxx25)...

Got this off Maexxna the other night. A matter of 4 trash pulls later, it and Sundial of the Exiled procced at the same time. The result - a 15.5k Lava Burst crit. The general response in raid chat was along the lines of "Sweet JESUS!"

Yeah, this thing is pretty damn good. And it got me the Epic achievement, too. ;)

You cant just say that Illustration of the Dragon Soul along with Dying Cruse is the best combination.

For me, Dying Cruse is practically useless because I have 4xx hit rating and I really just can't get rid of any hit rating and make room for other stats as it is right now.
I'm trying to go Illustration of the Dragon Soul+Embrace of the Spider at the moment, but that damn trinket wont drop, so I look at it as Im stocked with Dying Curse :)

Got this today lol for my prot pala. Caps my mellee hit and i guess adds a nice little threat bonus so a nice trinket for heroics and low level raids, doubt il ever use it seriously in Ulduar though.

If someone can be bothered to calculate the extra damage this thing does for me itd be interesting, use the standard 969... rotation. I do know most of my spells benefit more (or completely) from attack power before you call me a n00b.

Im running right now with Sundial and Dying curse on my Lock and its effin sweet..but I have been hearing that DC:D is also really nice ( i was using that prior to getting Dying Curse)

Just an observation here. This trinket could be used by a tankadin for additional threat couldn't it?
Being that pally threat is derived largely from spell power and hitting things, I'm not saying that pally's should get
this item over casters or anything. With the up and coming changes in 3.2 to seal of vengeance hitting as often
as possible will be more important than ever.

Ive had some bad luck trying to obtain this trinket. Idk how many times ive run naxx 25 but every time i get outrolled. One run a resto shammy got this... i was second highest roll too, me being a shadow priest i think I would definately have better use for this than a resto shammy. Just the other night it got won by a mage who won like 9 other things so far while i won none, yet again i had the second highest roll. I hope i have better luck on my next run. mark of the war prisoner ftl.
