If you are a caster in T6 or better gear when entering Northrend, I suggest replacing all your sockets with this gem. It will last all the way to 80.

Until you can find someone who's exhalted with Kirin Tor you're stuck with these, so you may want to stock up on them if you find them cheap in a bulk on the auction house

Like the majority of Green-quality gems in Northrend, it's actually better than most Epic gems of the Outlands (before taking the Gem Perfection proc into account!).

This item, 39911 brilliant bloodstone, is no longer available in game, replaced by the identical 39912 (for god knows what reason), so both may be seen on the AH, but they won't stack together in bags or bank. Many similar gem situations.
