Drops from Kil'jaeden, the last boss of Sunwell Plateau.

And, as you would expect from the boss with the highest ilvl drops in the game, this has the most +healing you can find on a one- or indeed two-handed item, equal with Golden Staff of the Sin'dorei which, thanks to its sockets, has a higher potential for more healing.

57 spirit (76 spirit with example spirit gems socketed to get bonus)

sockets can be 3x https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=37503, or anything you like, but i find the amethyst very suitable. it would give 33 healing, 15 spirit, and the socket bonus of 4 spirit for a total of +664 healing, again not counting the spirit healing possibility.

socketed with https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=32195 it would be 66 healing, no socketbonus or spirit added, for a total healing of +697 healing, no mp5.

shockingly, the mainhand + offhand is better than the staff, which is very very high in stats, but yields less +healing in the end.

im sure this will be downrated again, for the rubbish post it clearly is, cant say i didnt try..

off the top of my head id say, counting spirit healing added, one gets 7.5 healing, bringing the total to +726.5 the staff gets ±20 healing, for a total of +717 healing. all in all they are fairly equal, the staff giving more stats, and around 30-45 extra spirit which helps regen, the other has more healing, a raw 10 mp5 and lower stats overall, bringing the total for regen about even i think.

the tradeoff here would be 17 stamina, 12 int and 30-45 spirit for 10 healing and 10 fixed mp5, though, there will be very very very few healers that are likely to have to make this choice, both weapons drop off kil'jaeden, and the offhand off archimonde, which makes it somewhat hypothetical, except for those few guilds that manage to farm it before the next expansion 'hmm.. its coming so soon.. i really cba raiding anymore, theres not much use if you ask me' mood sets in. personally i would flip a coin or throw a dart to decide.

This would be godly for anyone that can use a shield so in my openion a shaman or a paladin. With no +spirit I would not pick this up on a priest I would go after the staff.

and use https://www.wowhead.com/cata/spell=27945 on the shield to bring it up to 58 intellect.

Plus any Oils and elixirs you apply to the weapon could have you up at 750+ healing with just the main and off hand. such as https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=22825 and https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=32067

Puting 765 healing and 88 int from the off hand and main hand and the 2 potions.

How come the item doesn't show +healing......... It shows spell power. I heard that spell power was a term used pre-bc but I started playing at the end of 2.3, so I was wondering if someone could explain how spell power works. thanks in advance

This Hammer will be the best main hand for Shadow Priest's on Day one of WOTLK due to the Socket. More damage and the same amount of Haste then Sunflare

this is best healing weapon and as you see is much of sunwell gear haste so with Book of Highborne Hymns and some other haste gear you will do fast healing :D

I posted on the Reign of Misery but I thought I'd add it here as well, given the changes to +healing and +spell damage (the fact that they've been combined into spell power) this mace is going to be coveted by the DPS in your raid as well as the healers. Expect a lot of fighting for it.

Question. As it has haste and an insane amount of spell power now, would this provide any benefit to a prot pally? Or would a different item provide more beneficial than this?

most likely i'll be downrated on this one...but... look at my situation...i'm a pvp shockadin and curently using the tempest from archimonde...even tho my stats with the tempest are good...i get around 50 more spell power with this mace and lose the crit from tempest; i can surely throw in a +10 crit rat. socket and compensate...IMO ATM from all weapons Pre-WotLK this one shines the most and it's gonna be my first target!

i think none can disagree on what i said...the+spell power shoots huge heals/shocks; i can even score around 4-5k shocks(the new change to holy shock) which u gotta admit it's rly high for a shockadin(6 sec CD on the spell)

I compared this mace with an off hand frill to the Golden Sindori staff that drops from kiljaeden. I also compared it to the level 78 weapons that are obtainable. This is right before cataclysm. These things have to be considered when you make the comparison. The level 70 epic weapons are item level 164. You can add an oil with 42 spellpower to items below level 165. Weapons in WOTLK that require level 75 or higher are above this level (165 item level) and you cannot add the oil to them so you lose 45 spellpower. Staves and one handed weapons can have the oil applied but not off hand frills. One handed weapons can be enchanted with a max 63 spellpower. Staves can be enchanted with 81 spellpower. Gems can be added to the Golden Sin'dorei staff and add 69 spellpower (3 gems) if spellpower is your preference. You also have to consider socket bonuses if you want to gem them with the right color of gems. This is way too cumbersome for the item comparison tool that I use with WOWhead 99% of the time. I had to make my own spreadsheet. This is how I did it:

I did this for each weapon and each off hand frill I was interested in. I added the off hand frill to the one handed weapons and then compared it to the staves' scores. The above example is my customized score for a shadow priest wanting to run battlegrounds and evaluating the totemic purification rod. There was no score for gems or the above mentioned oil. For your own character you would alter the ratings for each stat. I used a different rating for healing. You also have to consider item set bonuses.
My personal results for a shadow priest: Golden Sin'dorei Staff with 81 spellpower enchant and spellpower oil was the best possible weapon till level 80 and had a score of 40584 which I will use as a standard of 100%. Next was the above Hammer with the Iron bound tome at 97.5%. And in third place was the Totemic purification rod with the iron bound tome at 94.8%. The Hammer and Sin'dorei staff beat the level 78 purificatoin rod because I can add the spellpower oil to them. The Sin'dorei Staff beats the Hammer because of the better spellpower enchant ( 63 vs 81). If I had simply used the item comparison tool I would have chosen the Totemic Purification Rod. But with only a 5.2% improvement I can feel justified in not running 20 or more Sunwell Raid PUGs hoping that both the staff drops and I get to loot it.
