The proc of this is equal to 7.37% damage increase vs ANY target, cause armor always increase phys mitigation the same deal. That means if some amount of armor reduces the damage taken by 10% making it 0.9, then adding it twice will give you another 10% decrease from 0.9 which results in 0.81. So reducing enemy armor is always great until it`s reduced to zero. And that is most impossible vs PvE targets.
There`s really no difference between plated targets and clothies, the relative increase in damage will be the same for both of them. For dd warriors and melee shamans this enchant is really better than mongoose. The bad thing is no stacking but you can always get mongoose on the second weapon.

It should, yes, I don't see why other enchants such as Crusader, Mongoose etc. should have procs with both and this one shouldn't. I'm certain it does.

The wording of this enchant has me curious. It doesn't say that "your attacks" ignore 840 of your opponent's armor... It says enchants a melee weapon to occasionally ignore 840 of your opponent's armor. The qualifier that would explain it applying to all of your attacks is absent.

So, this sounds like a dumb question, but does it just apply to attacks made by the enchanted weapon, or all attacks?

840 armor penetration makes that 9160 armor, 46.456 reduction, so that swing would hit for roughly 545. 545/513 is roughly a 6.24% damage increase.

You made a little mistake in math. Not 545 hit, but 535 hit. And it is 4.3% damage increase.

And the effect will be much higher on low armored targets. And almost no effect on tanks ;)

The proc reduces a fixed amount of AC; therefore the more AC the target has, the less effectiveness we will benefit according to the d.r. (damage reduction) formula. Using X= Amount of Target Armor, the equation we should arrive at is:

The reason sunder armor causes as much threat as it does is because high threat is built into the skill, not because ignoring armor generates high threat. Sunder armor also increases dps from everyone in the raid with physical attacks, while this only increases your dps. The real reason for this enchant is to increase melee dps, but tanks should probably stick with mongoose.

Hello. I did LOADS of test on this enchant and now
IF its on MH then 1.2ppm
IF its on OH then 1.2ppm
ProcMeter 1.18%-1.68% on normal usage
Done on 213hit rating=3.8% miss rate
It does not stack when u have 2 weapons enchanted
Proc lasts 15 seconds and affects all atacks done in that time
Thats for numbers. Now i use it on OH Fury drop form firs bos of ZA on my fury warrior. Got 20 str on MH. In real life it procs on Each mob in kara or gruul. Few times on booses. Proc its boosting rage generation :). I did tests on my mates 420 resilence warlock. When it whas on proc i had my crits up by about 200 when using BT.
Its realy nice enchant for fury wariors but rogues i still think that Moonguse is better cos they got more benefit from AGI = AP and it can Stack 2xMongoose proc=240AP/6%crit/4%atack speed and 10 dodge. Executioner cant beat that for rogues :).

There are some great sites that break down the detail for what situations a player would benefit from various chants. Executioner is a great chant for targets of low armor (clothies and some leather) but I would recommend a player have additional armor penetration gear since this 840 by itself is not all that fantastic.

This is a great chant for warriors who are trying to grind rep/mats or tank due to the combining this proc with their sunder armor. Having all five sunders (at rank 6) on and having this proc will yield 3,440 armor reduction which is a nice increase to dmg and threat. As stated many times above, armor penetration is NOT a 1-for-1 for dmg dealt (i/e 1 armor penetration = 1 increase to dmg dealt). This will only reduce your targets dmg mitigation %.

Question: If you are dual-wielding, does the buff affect all your attacks, or only those from the weapon that procced Executioner? The tooltip implies that the specific weapon gets the buff, not the character (which is what Windfury does, for example).

What is a fair price for this enchant if you supply mats? I had someone demand 50g and I said no. As a JC, I cut the rarest metas for a norm of 10g, so 50g for a chant (when I supplying 500g+ of mats) seems high.

Formula: Enchant Weapon - Executioner is roughly equivalent at high T5/T6 levels of gearing to a single enchant of Mongoose. However, Mongoose/Executioner or double Executioner will not outperform the dps benefit of double Mongoose unless the Enhancement Shaman is geared with nearly unobtainable values of Armor Penetration.

Executioner currently does not stack from multiple hands, each proc when DWing will simply refresh the buff. It is unknown if this is intended, since this deviates from how other weapon enchants function. Obviously the value of Executioner will increase as you gain more -Armor gear. At entry raid level a shaman will probably gain more from dual Mongoose enchants. At high T5 content and beyond, Executioner will become more valuable.

Enchant Weapon - Executioner New - permanently enchant a melee weapon to occasionally grant you 120 armor penetration rating. (Old - occasionally ignore 840 of your enemy's armor.)

At level 'x' you'll roughly get the following armor penetration:

Executioner now uses the Armor Penetration rating. Giving a 120 buff to the stat. At level 80, that gives almost 10% armor reduction.

Making it a still good enchant since you got a chance to every now and again, ignore up to 10% of your enemy's armor.

For PvE arms warriors that are working towards the 100% armor penetration mark, there is a point where executioner provides a higher DPS boost than berserking (at around 80-90% armor penetration).

Not to mention it's still the best looking enchant in the game.

As of 4.0.1, this enchant gives 120 crit rating with a pretty high uptime.

For people like me that always liked the glow effect, this means we get a good dps boost as well as the awesome factor.

I just solo'd Jan'alai on my 84 Warrior, and the Executioner plans DID NOT drop. I am a 450 enchanter and I do not already know the enchant.

I'm semi pissed because I went through all the prep and gold spending to get the Executioner plans, and it did not drop : /

The previously unobtainable formula from old level 70 Zul'Aman has been re-implemented back into the game with patch 4.3 and can now be bought for around 5 gold depending on your reputation from Dealer JadyanDealer Jadyan in Netherstorm at the stormspire.

When facing the Inn/Mailbox, turn left and then turn right to go around the building. You will find him within your next couple of steps.

It's been a great gold maker for those that caught on early. Some people on The Consortium Gold making forums have reported selling it for more than 5,000gold each on the AH.

The re-implementation of this formula was also documented in wowpedia's Patch 4.3 undocumented changes.

As you can see in the picture it looks nice on Lionheart. It doesn't however have a graphic on Glad sword, not sure about S3 but I know S1 and S2 receive no graphic change from the enchant. As for the procrate, it appears to be on par with Mongoose.

WTF does "occasionally" mean? Does it proc more than mongoose or just as often? If it procs as often I'd rather stick with my mongoose. 120+ agility and a bit extra attack speed for 15 seconds is better than this, imo. At least for now I feel this way.

I opened a ticket with a GM on Argent Dawn and he said the procs for The Night Blade and Executioner are independent and therefore do stack! Woot! Although, I have yet to test it, but I will very soon! Looking forward to the 2135 reduction in enemy armor!

I got this Formula from The Eagle boss in ZA on our guilds 3rd run, was the only enchanter who could use it XD. Being selling a fair bit lately. As for the proc, I've heard that it is up nearly 50% of the timer in raids. Best on a mainhand weapon with mongoose on offhand.

I dont have this enchant but it is my understanding that the effects of executioner dont stack. instead of doubling the amount of armor bypassed the duration is refreshed . IMO for the pvp this chant is easily able to compete with mongoose but for a pve i think mongoose will still hold the high title

It seems blizzard is making a lot of Armor reduction gear for us rogues and fury warriors. This enchantment is a nice compliment to any weapon. Whether it be 1-h or 2-h. I'm wondering why blizz is making all of this nice armor penetrating gear... Maybe if we take resilence into account, because certain players stack resil and are almost ~uncrittable~. So with this enchant, you wont crit as hard on high resil players, but you'll still hit like a truck with your consistant damage. So here's some advice. Stack AP and Armor pen. all you rogues and fury warriors... I see no crits over the horizon (Oh Noez!). This enchant has about the same mats as Mongoose... I'm thinking about going Ex. on MH and Mongoz on OH. Btw, on some servers, this enchant hasn't even been picked up yet. Or only a few players have gotten it. So be prepared to pay a hefty tip (if they know they're the only one with it) to the nice enchanter who gave you this phat uber enchant. =D

btw for people who don't understand...armor pen and the likes of it work BETTER on cloth than on plate...just becuase of the way armor scales do you think 840 armor does anything against a bear with 20k armor? no. but how about cloth with 1k armor who is still getting 10% damage reduction? you are talking 7%-8% more damage on cloth, but 0.5%ish on heavy plate or bears.
Just keep this in mind when you try to stack armor pen to defeat the merc (now venge) glads warrior

OK...IF i have Executioner in Mainhand and in Offhand will i get 2 different sets of the 840 armor ignore, Mongoose would proc and give 2 buffs for 120 agility...seems like this should as well

I understand it does not stack, but, why dismiss the idea of doubling up on this enchant if you are building a penetration char? At only 2 PPM, it would seem the refereshed timer would actually be very useful...

-840 armor 75-80% of time is much better than -840 only 50% of the time. Especially in Arena where goose crits are few and far between these days anyway.

Wouldn't you rather just have the almost-constant penetration if you are going to get this in the first place?

I don't know the exact math behind this chant, so I won't even attempt to cloud your judgment with poorly explained mathematical operations. However, what I know is that this chant gives around 8% increased "ALL" damage against clothies if you're melee, and that is a significant amount imo. Almost all of the rogues in my guild has the trinket from Fel Reaver, and all of them praise the trinket's 1000 ignore armor proc to no end, and most of the major PvP rogues even use it in PvP & Arenas. They also seem to eat up the "armor ignore" stats on most of their gear eagerly and joyously.

Mongoose proc, as awesome as it is, doesn't provide close to what Executioner could bring to the table, namely the amount of damage increased. Sure, this chant doesn't work as well against heavily armored targets, but raid bosses, with as much armor as they have, don't wear plate, and some of them are quite "squishy" for the lack of a better word (why would bliz give t6 quality melee dps gear ignore armor if they don't think it's good for PvE anyway?). My conclusion? This chant seems to be an awesome PvE and PvP chant. Of course, I won't be so ignorant as to tell you to chant both weapons with it, but I hope you at least are looking to chant your main hand with Executioner... it's the smartest choice imo.

Oh, and if you're a tank... Mongoose of course, like everybody said, and if you're a hunter... why are you here? :P

assuming that you where to use this for pvp against a clothie you have to take in consideration their buffed armour. Each seperate cloth class has a armour buff which should always be active in pvp. priests have inner fire increasing armour by 1580 and mages/locks also get a buff that increases their armour. So when assuming the damage increase on these cloth targets the self buff must be taken into consideration too work out the real effectiveness of the enchant.

when using a 2h that has a speed of 3.6 or so, would it be best to get a savagery enchant or executioner (ignoring all cost factors) when dpsing IN PVE ? im not sure how to calculate it but the armor ignoring effect has a "such and such" addition to total dmg caused, but what would savagery have in comparison? Again, im looking for pve opinions and statistics here, not pvp.

ive just heard around that executioner isnt worth it as much pve wise if youre fighting a boss with mass amounts of armor, where the ignoring factor executioner gives you would end up being useless. This is, of course, coming from someone who does not have other armor penetrating effects stacked from armor.

Putting this on both weapons would probly not b a good idea.For a dps fury warrior,I suggest this in main hand and 20 Str(potency) in off hand.Of course 2 potencys kicks ass too.Rogues...executer MH mongoose Off hand...But if you're worried bout this chant emptying your wallet...and u like to save ur money not spend it...this chant isn't worth it.Honestly,it's not a bad chant,But if you wana pick up something cheap and ur warrior...Go with good ole' potency or savagery.Stats always better than procs I always say!And for end game raiding with a 2h,GO SAVAGERY!it's not enough ignore for a high lvl raid boss trust me

By far the best combo would be the executioner on the mainhand and mongoose on the off-hand. That would beat double executioner or double mongoose easy!
