This thing has a very small percentage to drop, I've hit mech in herioc about 12 times (Not joking). I have seen every drop except the sword multiple times. Well, there's always tonight. :P

it shouldn't be too hard to be perfectly honest tanking him (as a non prot warrior), so long as you do have some decent tanking kit. He doesn't hit too hard even on Heroic which is ok, the worst thing he does as far as you should be concerned is the Arcane explosion - hit me for just about 2k each time.

Run this place twice now and so long as you have the DPS he goes down fairly easy (wish I could say the same for the boss before him though.. grr - just glad she doesn't drop this sword!)

I'm a Fury/arms warrior and i can easily tank this place. Btw bring AR gear if you have any. It will help, and for the boss before himmjust kill him first and use the good old kiting strat :P works every time.

I think the King's Defender is marginally better than this for a prot warrior. Hit is absolutely critical to a tanking warrior but its so difficult to incorporate into a quality tanking set. 1% dodge is very nice but when you consider the mongoose proc, agil totems, scorpid sting, agil pots, BoK etc etc its not -that- hard to reach 24-26% dodge fully buffed.

Both worth of Mongoose enchant though.

Just got this tonight and very happy about on the account of getting it on my first hero mech run :) but imo i agree with morgyle that dodge is better then parry in the fact that its easier to get and both do the same thing. if its agro ur looking for just throw a battlemaster enchant on it like i did and its all the agro u need

Some tips on Heroic Mechanar

1 - Bring a Warlock for enslave, banish, seduce and curse of tongues

2 - Curse of tongues on the Robots that cast charged fist so you have more time to cancel the cast, very important that you cancel the cast

3 - Watch for the Polarity Charges on the Mechano-Lord, make sure you're not blowing eachother up

4 - Skip the second boss and kill the last first, this way you can pull her to the last room and dps her down before her elementals get to you

Excellent sword for tanking, comparible with Kings Defender and if you have one not much point in getting other.

Though i do consider Blazefury better than them both for tanking not everyone wants to be a swordsmith for 1 weapon. I did and saved myself alot of mechanar farming early on :)

While its clearly subjective to say whats best and all that, I'm one of the few warriors on my server that has managed to get this to drop and I think its a fantastic weapon. It took a few days for its graphic to grow on me, but adding Mongoose to it just after the 2.0.1 patch helped there.

As someone who MT's a lot of Heroics (I do at least 2 daily, sometimes more) I've come to appreciate dodge over block and parry. I started running them with a wicked set of blocking gear, well over 30% chance to block and 15%/16% with dodge and parry and found myself simply getting annihilated regardless against certain mobs, like the Felguard Annihilators in Heroic BF. I was blocking 480-ish of about 6,000 damage, dying, and decided shortly there after that it was time to change my set up.

Needless to say, attaining this was a major step in that. The dodge rating is wonderful as is the speed and +defense (even more so after 2.0.1) and along with the many other pieces of dodge-oriented tanking gear I've acquired, I'm close to 30% dodge now and find that my survivability has skyrocketed. Better yet, I've managed to maintain a respectable parry and block% as well.

So, yeah, long story short - Sun Eater is a weapon I won't be looking to replace for a while. :)

The golden text makes 0 sense. A dying star is a sun thats about to implode, have fun diving into the heart of that to make a sword. And 'cosmos' basicly means 'harmony', the opposite of 'chaos'.

Nothing relevant, just being picky and annoying, never liked the nonsense of this blade :)

Well, call me lucky, but last night I did my first heroic instance ever, and we decided to do Mech, as it's said to be tehe fastest and good for heroic badges.

Well, after a few wipes before the last boss this beauty dropped, and me as the tank won it eventho the healer paladin rolled for it :D

Can't say I'm nothing but happy, as my gear compared to THIS is nothing that spectacular. But now I have something really neat to be proud about :3

As a paladin tank myself, for mitigation reasons, this can help greatly on those bosses where you need to be uncrushable, but dont need as much threat, Ex#1, Prince. with exorsism you dont need the extra threat generation of a 'caster' weapon. personally still farming for this sword, 14 runs so far, I have the pants for pvp, boots for healing maiden, and have seen every other drop 2+ times. luckily its easy to group for. This sword is easily the best mitigation weapon I have seen, some people say I am low on health, 10027, but I have over 30% avoidance, they quickly correct themselves =). aaaanyway, My charector is Contingence, on deathwing server. feel free to check me out =P. best pally mitigation weapon.

This sword doesn't exist. I've told myself this now, I've ran heroic mech 67 times on my warrior. I have every badge of justice piece my warrior can use and have badges saved for the next patch. This sword hates me.

Why limit yourself? Get Kings Defend for threat, Sun eater for Avoidance. Having one doesn't negate the other. Players, especially tanks, have to stop limiting themselves. There are different situations that will require you to play differently. Gruul is a great example.

This is in response to Aurosyi.

You can't simply make the generalization that Parry > Dodge. Additionally, your information is wrong. When you parry an attack, your swing timer gets accelerated to 0, IE you immediately attack after your parry and when you dodge, your swing timer doesn't get reset.... you just dodge.

That being said, the only reason 1% Parry is more expensive than 1% Dodge is the automatic counterattack. Now, counterattacks lead to better threat generation through the aquisition of more rage and more chances for Revenge. However, this is only true for Warriors. Parry is a very, very, VERY lackluster stat for Protection Paladins when compared to Dodge, Block Value, or Stamina. For all purposes, a good Paladin will rarely need that little extra TPS that parry gives and it's way cheaper to itemize dodge.

I just got the weapon after 34 Heroic Mech runs and I couldn't be happier it's increased my defense, my dodge and TPS which my kara group thanks me for. Only question now is what enchant should I go for, mongoose gives me the agility and a attack speed and battlemaster gives the group heal. Obviously mongoose seems better in terms of proc bonuses but battlemaster might have it's perks. Does the attack speed on mongoose generate more threat than the healing on battlemaster?

The Sun Eater is a really nice wep looks awesome too! I havent got it yet! but before i try getting it. How many runs does it take to get this wep? Whats the drop rate? Is it worth it? Havent tried heroic mech yet is it some what hard? Where else should i go for more tanking gear?

i had this drop first time i'd killed the last boss in heroic mode which made me happy. I slapped a mongoose on it and its just a lovely tanking wep.

As allways theres like 10 posts on the age old question of this or KD. Ive never had KD drop from chess (allways the dam mail leggings), but i think if it does drop ill grab it up for trash tanking and keep my Sun Eater for bosses. cos tht seems to be what people kind of agree on.

I'd recomend getting farming this if ur a warrior tank, cos Heroic mech is like a 40 minute run and its jus such a good wep and also u'll be getting rep towards ur sheild.

Just got my Sun Eater on my first heroic run, needless to say I almost defecated myself. Overall this is an awesome weapon, upped my defense and added some extra threat generation.

I recently got both the Umbral Shiv and the Cleaver of the Unforgiving so i decided to do some testing. I didn't run any simulations i just went to the same type of mob and spammed devestate while in identical gear. I used a sample size of 100 devestates to measure the damage of normal hits with each weapon. For comparisons sake i had 678ap and was grinding on the Bonestripper vultures in hellfire.

Cleaver of the Unforgiving:
Devestate ranged from 91-331 with an average of 239

Umbral Shiv:
devestate ranged from 92-342 with an average of 243

So according to my test the umbral shiv actually hits a bit harder with devestate. This doesn't take into account that it is slower and therefore less HS spams, but strictly based on devestate damage, umbral shiv is a bit better.

Some limitations of this experiment include, limited sample size of 100 strikes, possible uneven streaks of mongoose procs, the amount of hits I got in after 5 sunders (which might result in skewed data).

In conclusion, I'll still use the cleaver with mongoose enchant for normal tanking, but i might throw executioner on the shiv and two solid stars of elune for a fun alternative tanking weapon (while still being good for dps otherwise). Of course, i would never ever take this from a rogue (i have a rogue myself and this is amazing), but if a warrior gets a chance to pick this up and doesn't have a good tanking weapon I wouldn't pass it up.

Update:
The Sun Eater
devestate ranged from 74-299 with an average of 212

So based on this, if you have sun eater and you have a chance to get this for tanking I wouldn't pass it up.

***Assuming unlimited rage (which isn't always possible) and always activating HS (which isn't always possible), a 1.6 speed weapon will get 37.5 HS/minute and a 1.8 speed weapon would get ~33.3 HS/minute.
Since heroic strike is +196 threat (rank 10), this would result in 816 more threat/minute with a 1.6 speed weapon.

However, this is assuming perfect conditions, so I'd still take a harder hitting devestate.

I may have gotten lucky but on my warrior i got it on my second try on herioc mech it might be a low drop rate but if you keep doing herioc mech as a warrior you get rep for the epic shield if you still need one plus its a ton of badges. Kings defender is better in my opinion if you have a good group to do kara with

Finally got mine drop after 14 runs, all but 1 had been guild runs and I think they were getting sick of it lol.
I ended up seeing a trade channel shout for tank so jumped in.
Delighted it dropped even if the mage disenchanter said he was going to need it. Winding me up, or really thinking about it! not sure, but he took a good while passing...

Got mongoose on it and can tell the difference already on normal heriocs. Into Kara next week see how it holds up :)

Kings Defender vs. Sun Eater:

King's Defender (https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=28749): 87.5dps 1.6 Sword 28STA +1.1%hit Tank Points:3352. Better aggro weapon. It has some mitigation, hit rating, and higher DPS. Straight white damage is important in threat generation, and this weapon provides more of it.

The Sun Eater (https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=29362): 83.4dps 1.6 Sword 22STA Tank Points:3995. Better mitigation weapon. Has dodge rating. Also has a cool flavor text.

Enchants:

I don't know about the new Frost enchant and Battlemaster seems sub par, but there are two nice tanking enchants:

Elitist Jerk's: The Protection Warrior

Executioner (https://www.wowhead.com/cata/spell=42974): Provides ~65 TPS.

Mongoose (https://www.wowhead.com/cata/spell=27984): Provides mitigation and ~12.5 TPS.

I have both weapons and use them both. I have King's Defender with Executioner, and The Sun Eater with Mongoose. They compliment each other very well and I am very happy with that setup. I also like having the option of having a weapon without Mongoose for certain encounters (e.g. Zul'Jin). Mongoose provides ~4% dodge (idk exact number), and that leads to more overpowers and spike damage on the tank during bear phase.

There is no lvl 70 epic weapon that grants you more avoidance then this one. Many tanks I know use Malet of the tides or similar weapons at the starts of a bossfight, then switch to this one. Simply for the dodge.

Cleaver of the unforgiving is on 2nd spot when it comes to avoidance weapons.

Hello, i am a newly started Tank and have been going Hc mech about 18-22 times now. i'm about 3-4 runs from exalted and never seen this dropp.
I would love to have this Sword and would actually take it over (https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=28749): any day. the reason is simple, when u start you're kara adventures u need to avoid just as much as u wanna hold threat, Youre team mates can chill down there dmg, but u can't ask the mob to chill down his dmg on u. so get ur Sun eater (hopefully u get it. Unlike me that have allmost given up) and enchant it with Mongoose, because it is an "avoidence" item and rather have it 100% avoidence then avoidence + some threat(Executioner).

Question: Which is better; The Sun Eater or The Kings Defender.

Answer:
--For Raids: The Sun Eater. For raid content you want more avoidance gear in general and this one give 1% more avoidance through the dodge rating. You should not get rage starved as any hit these guys land on you gives a chunk of rage.

--For Heroics: Similar to raids but with a twist. If you are still building a decent tanking set for 70 The Sun Eater is still far better. If your gear is already very good in terms of avoidance the King's Defender can make a better choice. Basically once you find yourself getting rage starved in heroics switch out the King's Defender and a couple of other TPS pieces of gear if you have any.

--For tanking world mobs (quests etc), Normal dungeons The King's Defender is better. In these cases masses of avoidance is not needed and will almost always end up with getting rage starved.

Overall: These are two tanking weapons - one is Threat Per Second, the other is Avoidance. In raids TPS is not usually a problem and should only be really worried about when enrage timers are a real consideration.

Do not vendor wither of these weapons should you get them: They will last a long, long time and both have completely different roles to play.

Recommended enchants:
---The Sun Eater: Mongoose. <> enhance what you already have with a 4% dodge proc (plus a small amount of TPS from increased crits)
---King's Defender: Executioner. <> enhance what you already have again with 47 TPS extra.

In that case, Seal of the Righteous is bugged. My paladin is 45 and still gets less damage from it the faster it is.

Well, this was in reference to its use with Hammer of the Righteous, the protection 51-point talent. You are correct in that Seal of Righteousness hits for less with a fast weapon. It's designed to do a constant amount of DPS, despite weapon speed. Slow weapons make it hit harder, fast weapons make it hit for less. The end result is that they do equivalent SoR damage over a given period of time.

But that's a topic for another thread. This is still a great sword to tank with for Pallies and Warriors, worth keeping for the unique skin even after it's replaced functionally.

Lol, i AM one of the very rare and lucky few who got this sword...on my first Hrun through Mech. and i love the look of this sword with mongoose! <3

One thing though, i got the headless horsemans sword, and the dps on that wep is far higher in comparison to suneater. In fact, even with the new patch etc, i found that i would be rage starved at times and the damage put out is just not as high as the HH sword.

I know that the sun eater is for avoidance etc, but still, i do wish it did more damage. =/

I personally use https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=32052# as a prot pally, and i think if your leveling in WotLK and doing instacnes you would be better off to use it than the sun eater. Hammer of righeous does much more dmg since it's 14 more dps, and i get some good dps in just with my swings. Also, it's useful on tank and spank boss fights where i only have one target. I used this at 70 since when the patch came out for talents and stuff pre-WotLK since i was defense capped, and i will probably use this until I get a good blue from a quest.

KD vs SE was apples to oranges - one for threat, one for avoid. Obviously you'd put executioner on the KD and use it any time your TPS was lacking, otherwise use SE, probably with mongoose. Hell, I remember would change them in combat, switching to SE once I knew threat was nonissue for the remainder of the boss.

Except I put battlemaster on mine. Because the flavor better suits a sword of The Sun Eater's caliber. Two expansions later, this blade is still more badass than any other weapon I've found.

The name is godly, the flavor text is godly, the model looks like ****ing magma is flowing through the blade, and even the appearance (icon too) is awesome. This sword cured my AIDs, got me a date for prom, took my team to nationals, reunited me with my long lost twin brother, and made learning calculus easy. Sorry Derflinger, but The Sun Eater was the best brosword of all time. Of all time.

Got this on my 9th Heroic Mech run, Which put me within touching distance of Exalted with Sha'tar. Will Serve me wel until I get Kings Defender and more then makes up for the fact that I have only ever seen Tanking plate drop twice in 2 months of doing Karazhan.

never seen this drop in 35+ heroic mech runs. tyring to get so i can drop swordsmith.
and yeah... if your a rogue and you need this against a tank your an idiot...
rogues genrally have more sense then that in game though (unlike the idiot who posted here its a rogue sword)

Just finished my 9'th mechanar heroic run. Still did not drop. Got 4 Epic dps war legs armor so far :(

Dropped tonight, first time we killed the endboss, surprisingly easy too and it dropped. I know it was lucky, though King's Defender didn't drop even after like 5 times :P

It looks very raw, like it's just from the forge. The orange glow moves like molten lava, if you know what I mean, it's like it's floating or pulsating; very cool effect. Very suiting for Warriors/Paladins (although Pallies are more power-ranger style now :P) with the very raw looks.

I lost a spot on a Kara run (second day) in my efforts to get this and I think it was well worth it..

I've been using Grom'tor's Charge since October, which is a decent tanking sword if you can get anything else.. After 4-5 failed Heroic Mech run's, I finally got in a group that kept going despite the wipes (for lots of various reasons).. My first complete run to Pathaleon and it dropped.

Much more rage generated (vs Grom'tor's), sick sick dodge, goes great with Moroes Lucky Pocket Watch. I also got a Defender gem (+parry and +stamina) on this run, and that was like a foretelling..

Sorry to all the tanks that it doesn't drop for :( It should drop for all!

Well ive done this 24 times now and the sword has still not dropped. I cant even see how that is possible..Blizz rly knows how to screw with tanks, eager to get new gear, seeing im not the only one here having a hard time getting this. 0/9 on Kings Defender to.... Good thing i have Honor`s Call

After slogging my way through Mechanar with some tool of a holy paladin healer called Ratsinger (who seemed to delight in letting me die numerous times), the Sun Eater finally dropped.

"Cool" I thought. The only person in the group who could benefit from this weapon is me (a Warrior Prot Spec Tank). Well I needed on it of course and expected to get it. In fact I never even looked to see who else needed because I assumed it would be mine and mine only.

After looking in my bag to equip this weapon I noticed it was not there. I scrolled back up the message log and found that the holy paladin Ratsinger had needed as well and WON!

I asked why he needed it and said it was so he could off-tank! Never heard of a holy paladin being able to off-tank anything, because if he is off-tanking he ain't healing.

As you can imagine I was extremely pissed off and now hate holy paladins the world over. I'm even considering deleting my level 70 alt pala! I may even consider rolling horde so I can hunt Ratsinger down and show him what his Sun Eater looks like stuffed up the crack of his backside.

Again, Ratsinger is on Skullcrusher, so if you group with him - Beware. He may well end up robbing you of something that should be 100% yours because it is geared 100% to your spec.

UPDATE: Got it to drop for me last night! Thanks to the great group of people I was with for all passing on it! Put Mongoose on it :)

My group consisted of a feral druid, a rogue, a hunter, a priest, and myself. The rogue is combat daggers and would never use this for real. YES, it's a warrior weapon. It was a guild run and so we all rolled for the DE, I won the DE and instead of DE'ing it I decided I'd rather equip it and terrorize all of the warriors on the
server by showing it off in IF.

Don't be noobs. Understand a joke when you see one, and for the love of god don't deprive this from a Prot warrior who actually needs it.

WHY THE HECK WOULD A ROGUE GET A WEAPON WITH DEFENCE RATING. THATS LIKE A WARRIOR GETTING A WEAPON WITH SPELL DAMAGE. YEAH LOOK AT ME I'M A PROT WARRIOR WITH ADDED SPELL DAMAGE, SO WHEN I USE SPELL REFLECT I CAN HIT THE TARGET FOR 120 MORE DAMAGE. Not how it works. Rogue's are idiots, I've never had a Rogue in a group that didn't wipe us. And when I tell them to stay away from an AoE, it urges them to stay in it, so I just ignore them. Only rogue's I've played with that know anything are the Rogue's in my guild. Other than that, I don't go near Rogues.

My point: if any Rogue rolls for this, you better hope that your Warrior has Artifact tanking wepon or else your going to be a Instance Soloer until your Ninja Videos are off the internet and you switch to some Asian server where people can't speak your language. And to sum it all up, the Japanese would call you a Dorobo.

In regard to the debate over defense:

Yes, having 490 defense makes a warrior immune to critical hits in PVE!

No, having more than 490 defense is not extremely helpful.

Once you hit 490 defense, you're done. That's your goal, that's as high as you need to go. Once you hit 490, start stacking other stats. Most importantly: parry and dodge. Naturally once you have 490 defense you can start pulling out those crappy +8 defense gems, and start putting in those epic +4 parry +6 stamina gems. Also, at 490 defense resilliance is no where near as important. Cash it in for dodge, parry, block, or stamina!

Remember, a successful dodge or parry mitigates 100% of all physical damage! This is invaluable when you're fighting monsters that hit for 10k+. Shield block is only going to absorb about 500 damage at best. 500 damage out of 10,000 damage is pretty worthless. Personally, the only thing i like about shield block is the 5 rage generation. It isn't worthless, but it is garbage compared to dodge or parry :-).

A tanks stat priority should always be like this:
#1) get 490 defense!
#2) stack parry and dodge!
#3) stack stamina!
#4) stack block value!(not chance to block, you have the shield block skill for that)

I've been tanking heroic Mech a lot for this sword, its hard enough to find a good enough grp to down calc, let alone have the sword drop on a 3-5% chance.

If a rogue rolled on this sword and won, I would put my fist through my computer screen.
Sure a rogue COULD use it, and you could argue till your blue in the face as to why. A warrior could argue next time theres a dagger drop, which has agility, which increases armour and dodge, and has fast speed, that they should roll for it as well. But that would be a !@#$y thing to do. Be nice and dont ninja items that people work hard to get.

In the end, it's fast
its got + stam and def

As a Rogue I would use it as an OH Sword, dodge and speed+DPS, it is a high rated OH for combat swords (there are many better, but ALOT worse)... however, if a Rogue rolls need against a Warrior that Rogue deserves a swift kick in the nutz.

For people moaning about the drop rate, perhaps it's worth remembering that over all the runs you're doing, you can basically add in all the rep for Crest of Sha'tar as well. Oh, and the badges for Auto-Blocker.

So perhaps consider it farming for all three. :)

i would like to make a comment on that sword.
i am a sword spec combat rogue and i got this over a warrior who already had Kings Defender from KZ.
After that i got thousands of whispers about being a ninja and all that kind of stuff.

I won't disagree that it is indeed a tanking weapon but since the tank passes it on, i selected need and got it and i offered to the party members 2 void crystals.

What is ur opinion about it ?

Ok, does this still need clearing up? (/cast wall of text)
First off: This is not a rogue weapon!
1. Rogues can get Latro's much easier
2. Defense rating is pointless for rogues
3. Dodge is pointless for endgame rogues
Second: This is not a hunter weapon!
1. It's a melee weapon
2. Its not an AGI and AP stacked weapon
Third: It is ok for any of the aforemention classes to have this weapon IF THE PROTECTION SPECCED WARRIOR TANKING THE GROUP DOES NOT WANT IT
Fourth: Reasons why this is a tanking weapon.
1. It is a fast weapon with moderate damage range, perfect for generating rage.
2. It adds dodge rating. Dodge = Not getting hit = Not taking damage = healers not losing mana = you staying alive longer.
3.It adds defense rating. Defense Rating = Less % of crit against you = less damage taken = less mana used by healers = you staying alive longer.
4. It adds hit rating. (Yes hit rating is not only for tanks, but its a reason why a tank should have it) Hit Rating = more hits on a mob = more threat gained = more damage done = even more threat gained = other people in the raid not getting hit = healers use less mana.
5. It adds stamina (Once again, not only a tank stat, but most useful on a tank this early in endgame) Stamina = more health = you stay alive longer.
6. It looks badass. (Yes this is not a valid reason for it to be a tanking sword, but hey, who doesn't agree?)
Fifth: This is not one of those BoE Epic e-peen boner inducing drops, it is a BoP sword designed with tanks in mind.
Sixth: As you can see, every stat on this sword is designed to reduce or negate all incoming damage, which not only makes the job of the healers easier, but also makes it so that the person TAKING THE DAMAGE FROM THE MOB has a better chance of surviving long enough for the other people who SHOULDN'T have this sword to kill it.

I have an Aim to get this for my Protrogue...

Seriously, as there is a lack of tanks about for 5 mans, I am going to go for full on avoidance tanking and go for a dodge, parry build. Ninja some druid gear, stack it with dodge, parry gems, Double evasion tanking at bosses when I'm nearly doomed. (heavy clefhoof set, some nice tank rings and trinkets, neck from CE, sword from HH and suneater dualwielding)

I know some warrior will cry when I ninja it from him, but this is an experiment... nothing can get in the way of science. Going to aim for tanking kara (OT, could probably even MT first few bosses). Maybe even try some SSC trash :D

First let me say: My main is a sword rogue. I like it that way. This is clearly a tanking weapon The only way I would roll on this is if I were to disenchant the thing. If you were in my guild or group and rolled on this, you would be kicked out without hesitation or remorse for being a greedy idiot. There are much better off hand weapons for sword rogues. I understand that some rogues are #$%^&*s and roll on weapons they don't need and screw other people over. I'd like to apologize on behal of all good rogues who know what we're doing. KTHNXBAI.

As a DPS Warrior, I think I'm in a good position to say who this sword is for.

It's for tanks. As somebody who could use a sword, I too wanted it. I, however, realized that, if it indeed did drop, it wasn't for me, because I wasn't tanking. The fact of the matter is, Paladin or Warrior, it's a tanky tank sword. While you can indeed get particularly odd crits with it (1k crits just goofing around with this thing in the wrong gear, with other odd things like sudden streaks of 600 damage while dressed in full Devout), and it does indeed make a good offhand, if you really want this thing, wait till the tank gets it first. I did.

Don't need it if the tank doesn't have it. And even if the tank DOES have it, realize that, while it's a good sword and everything, it doesn't exactly have DPS stats on it. Fireguard does more damage than it does. While it does get odd crits, they're not at all reliable (having personally seen it hit for 100 and then turn right around and soar past 500 for no particular reason). It will also (very quickly) get replaced even if you're just casually doing arena. (And even then, Arena 1 drops in Honor stores REAL soon, and the Slicer just blows this thing out of the water.)

So yeah. You don't need it if you're not tanking.

As for the number of runs, I got it on my tenth. Hunter gloves, Hunter Gloves, Hunter Gloves, Pious Boots, Hunter Gloves, DPS Warrior Pants, Hunter Gloves, Boots, Pants, SUN EATER.

As an added little bit of "Please, for the Love of Christ, don't ninja the shiny orange dreamsicle sword", realize ninjaing this isn't really gonna be something you'll be able to get away with. Because, I know, the thought on everybody's mind is:

What the hell was the name of that hunter?

Finally we got it, guild run for the love of Sen'jin we were farming mechanar for moths now. Our tank had no longer faith in it. But we got a group together with another dps warrior. He couldn't find groups for good gear so we tried or best. Told him the dps legs dropped often in Mech. Killed Patha and we couldn't believe it. Sun eater dropped. Our tank was cheering of joy, and the dps warrior said: Damit just my luck never anygood dps plate drops for me.

So remember Tanks out there if you are grouping and farming Mech for the Sun eater, and you only get that crap dps legs dropped. Get a dps warrior in the team that wants the legs, and let all get motivated to just go for that plate. You'll see Blizzard in his sarcastic way lets another thing drop instead.

I had this dropped today in H Mech, and a rogue need rolled it and beat me(I am a protection warrior).
I swear to God I WILL NEVER group with that dumb nub rogue again.

Alright I created an account for the sole purpose of posting on this thread. After analizing the stats I decided to get it as an avoidance weap. I am a pally. Yes, I know my aggro comes from holy dmg. Aggro is not a problem and never has been. By now, we have all developed our own tactics and whatever works for you, works for you. I read the bunch of posts about other fellow tanks and their nightmarish ventures trying to get it. Mages trying to get it, rogues trying to get it, hunters trying to get it .... Everybody and their moms seem to want the silly thing... Yes, I have been asked to tank it before by a mage and another time by a pally healer just cuz they wanted it for vanity, while they knew I was trying to get it for myself. I am a tank, always have been and they knew it. Boy, didn't I know what was wating for me. ONLY took me 34 times... not a single time it had drop before, no ninjas, no sword, just the silly healing clothie shoes, one or another hunter's gloves and The DPS plate pants like a gazillion times. I even developed the "WoW Logic Effect" (U r never going to get it as long as U are trying to get it, the moment U r no longer trying then it drops... Can almost write a master degree thesis on it. How it sucks when u become fixed on getting something that only exists, because U have seen it on somebody but never actually seen it drop. Same went for the Figurine of the Colossus (Shat Halls)which took me 17 times. Same goes for the Devilshark Cape (SV) .... 22 times...

What can I say, don't loose your faith and keep on tanking. Determination is the word. I apologize for any grammatical mistake I may have made, English is just my second language. Knowing what gear to bring to a fight makes a world of difference, stacking the right stat for any given fight (mitigation for big trash pulls or avoidance for hard hitters). If you are a pally tank, get this weap, it will give U that little avoidance push we all need so badly. Combine it with a strong caster weapon (like the Gladiator's Gavel from pvp) to front load aggro and then switch... Works like a charm. =-)
