Drops from the last boss of Sethek Halls, a level 67+ instance.

While awesome in looks, don't fret if you miss the roll, there is a nice quest reward which involves killing this boss, and you can kill him at 66 even, but that asks for some gear.

As someone who uses Terokk's Quill at the moment, i would much rather have the Reaper, the agility from what i could tell does not really make up for the lack of AP on it. You could add an effective extra 36 AP to the Reaper with Bold Blood Garnets...not to mention the Reaper makes for bigger hits anyways :P

And if you fill up those slots, you've scored yourself another 6 stamina over the Quill...My quill is getting vendored as soon as i get one of the REAL level 70 2handers (Plasma Rat's Hyper Scythe, Crow Wing Reaper, Reaver of the Infinites...)

This is such a great axe. I've been fury spec from the beginning but when I won this during my first run of Sethekk halls, I quickly spec'd to Arms. Because of it's base stats and socketing capabilities this Axe will easily last you thought level 70. I also added a Savagery enchant to it for harder hits. Anyway, totally worth the effort to pick up.

The only axe I think is better (with enchanting/jewel socketing in mind) is the Gladiator's Decapitator, just because of it's hefty equip stats.

So I was invited to Sethekk Halls w/ my guild. It was Myself (69 Tank), 3 70 Locks and a 66 Priest. We downed Ikiss and this and the Ravenclaw Band dropped. Needless to say, being the only melee, I got both drops. Mad props to my guildies, this Axe is sick. I slapped a +12 AP, +3 str;+4 Stam and a +8 agi gem in the 3 gem slots and it's a pain bringer. It owns face, right now...it allows me, at 69, to take on 3 to 5 lvl 70 mobs at once without having to bandage. That makes it easier to farm and grind.

Bottom line, anyone that is melee should have one...this axe is a facerocker.

I had the Crystalforged Waraxe already picked out and in my inventory when this thing dropped, I was sad to get rid of my axe but since this one is way better I did.

I socketed it with 3 Delicate Blood Garnets since its missing alot of agility needed for a DPS warrior like me.

I see two points in using this nice 2x-axe.

The one is for PvE 2h build ,Ms/flurry for example (the build aint completly PvE ,but it gets huge dmg with Nice 2h and shaman in grp) smthing like this https://www.wowhead.com/cata/talent=pG0xbAioM0zZE0zmMxRV

I would recommend putting 3x 16 Ap gems ,if U are lacking crit overall in gear (hard to belive with axe spec ,tho happens) go for Shifting Nightseye x3

The other is for PvP arena build ,where your choise is again between Shifting Nightseye and Sovereign Nightseye,I would definitly socket with one of those two,since the axe
-15 stamina compared to the Honed Voidaxe (https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=25762) and every1 knows how important is stamina in PvP

By looking at it again and again ,I think its the best 2h in normal 5man ;)

Heres how i see it layed out as a 70 MS warrior:

along wit the direct crit rating and basic war stats i just find it the most useful out of them. its also a easy drop from a easier instance (from First boss of mechanar) its not amazingly hard too grab.

Meh, i bought this for 69, and found it pretty useless. the dps is lower then most of the other weapons i had laying around. while the stats are nice (80 AP for sure) i don't think the damage is worth it in the end. Save the money and spend it on the flying mount you'll need next level.

This is the only one of these i have'nt gotten, it drops from the last boss of sethekk halls. while the instance is short, the drop rate on this thing gets on my nerves after awhile. I don't think this is worth running sethekk halls for, considering theres the polearm from mech at a better drop rate. it has lower end MS damage due too lower attack speed, and no direct + crit rating. while the red sockets are nice, i don't think its worth running then buying gems for.

which has low dmg with higher attack speed, but you might end up sing it at 66 since its free from a quest.

A nice weapon too have, but pass it too a hunter if theres one in the party. like the quill its more hunter loot, agi stam and some other neat things on there for em. but its solid MS dmg and the stats could help. likely the hardest one of all these too get, being from the last boss of shadow labyrinth.

hope this all helped any indecsive warriors, and know that most of these are arguable, this just being mah opinion.

Just a small note on the graphic.

It's not just a glow- it's a swirling blue twisting one. :)
Pretty sweet.

The gem slots do kill the item points compared to, let's say, a Honed Voidaxe, which gets a total of100+ in stats.

So, it's quite redundant- at 68 you can hit 70 in a day or two and then get a new weapon- wasting the gems you put in this baby to make this anywhere competitive in stats.
The only thing not cool about it.

Got it today.

This weapon is a beast!!! hits really hard!!!

And the sockets mean that u can coustomize it to your liking no matter what class you are. Warrior, hunter, pally, shammy , its a great addition to any class beacuse of its sockets.

i decked mine out in + crit gems. Hits hard..

well worth the effort put in 4 setthik runs to attain this.

What is better? This axe or the Plasma Rat's Hyper-Scythe https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=28253 ? I have both of them (currently using Crow Wing Reaper) but when I equip the Hyper-Scythe I lose AP, Crit, and Armor and the only thing I could see better about using the Hyper-Scythe is that it hits harder.

As a holy spec pally I plan on trying to get this for myself for soloing and questing. I think with a +30 int enchant and 3 https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=24029 (Teardrop living rubies.. +18 healing and +6 spell damage), this thing would be pretty sick for sure. Until i found something better to use while soloing.

Ret pallies might want to look at Warmaul of Infused Light https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=28393, as is has a higher top end damage and higher crit rating for vengeance to proc.

I would just like to point out this axe would be pretty good for a an enhancement shaman because it has enough time for the 3 sec WF CD and has three red sockets which you can put +str gems (https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=23095)
or AP gems (https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=28595)
also it you wanted extra crit you could put in (https://www.wowhead.com/cata/item=23098)

2H weapons are strictly inferior for PvE DPS situations. Talents and mechanics of shaman DPS at lvl 70 are built around DW. 9% +Hit while DWing through a 0/42/19 build allows all special attacks to be hit capped through talents alone, while a 2H will only receive 3% of the hit benefit. DW also scales better with AP. 2h effectively gains (1.0 * 0.95 hit rate) = 0.95 from AP and DW gains (1.5 * 0.74 hit rate) = 1.11 from AP. The more +hit you have (until we reach cap) the greater the difference between the two is. At a certain point (easily reached when raid buffed), this difference in gain from AP will outweigh the bonus base DPS of a 2H weapon over similar ilevel 1H weapons.

The second largest benefit you bring to your group is Unleashed Rage, and your Flurry and UR uptime will take a large hit from using a 2H, as strings of dodge/miss/non crits become compounded by a single, slower swing time. Threat concerns are even more problematic with a 2H because of large WF procs, requiring that you heavily pad your threat against a tank.

And finally, as mentioned in the Windfury Proc section, DW with WF on both weapons results in an increased chance to proc WF off either hand (36%). 2H weapons will not benefit from that increased proc rate.

i got lucky this dropped from my first run ever in sethekk, and its helped a ton along with the boots from the first boss and greaves of desolation, i like it because it gives off a fair amount of damage, which is a pretty good deal for a hunter.....

In 3.0, with 3x +24 stam gems it's an extremely ace DK tanking weapon, giving you a staggering +105 stamina on one 2h. Very very good.

Going to point out something here... This is Titan Grip-able. That's 3 Bold Cardinal Rubies in each hand. That's an amazing amount of damage - Certainly more than Axe of Frozen Death due to the sockets. Now all you need to do is get past the 10% droprate and actually farm a pair and you can be kicking ass for a long time before having to find replacements.

This dropped on my first run of sethek halls i was only level 66 so i got myself a Honed Voidaxe. Im a blood DK and i dont know if i should stay with the Honed Voidaxe or go with this weapon?

load this with blue str (for those who dont have 6-7 mains with 30k+ gold) gems and feel urself pretty much awesome until some 72lvl quests in Nord as u get Axe of frozen death there. But if u will put savag enchant and maybe epic gems i guess this axe can survive even that change. The look is too awesome :P

Here's a great trick for farming these with a friend/alt if you can stealth. I decided I wanted to pick up one or two of these up for an alt(warrior) I was planning to twink at 70. I was using my main account to clear the instance and kill Ikiss with my alt on follow. After 22 runs and no drop, I decided there had to be a better way.

Basically, I cleared the first large room and sat my alt next to the door that opens after you defeat Ikiss. Then I stealthed through to Ikiss, whiddled him down and, after he did his last teleport, ktted him up the hallway closer to my alt and finished him. My alt could roll on the loot and I didn't have to clear the whole instance! Finally, got my first drop a few runs in. Time spent went from about 15 mins per run to about 5 mins per.

I think you have to bring his hp lower in his room or he may teleport to your alt which will cause him to reset. I tried dragging him over to my alt from the start but he would always teleport over to the alt on his 3rd blink and AoE, evade and reset. Also, if you kill him too fast, the door won't open but I don't think that'll effect rolling for drop. Good luck.

For Hunters prior to level 70 this is the best weapon available because it is a place holder for agility with all the gems. DPS on a melee weapon is of no use to a hunter so it matters not that the DPS is not very high.

This is really easy to get for a lvl 85. I used a ret pally and just ran through the entire thing without really stopping and every once in a while i would stop and kill everything that was following me. But it only took 2 runs which was about 15 min total and the final boss drops 2 items so there is a good chance to get it with the first couple tries.

i got this at my first run threw SH and i love it i have a Lv 68 Deathknight and i equiped this weapon with 3 + 32 attack power and i can hit for 2000+ per hit and 2700+ crits this is baddass a great weapon for its lv usable well threw to 71 or 2

could someone plz explain to me how AP and strength work? i know strength gives you AP and Armor. I just got this weapon and im still deciding what gems to put in this weapon. I got the +20strength enchant and now i see Red gems that gives you +12AP and gems that gives you +8 strength. Which is better and how do you calculate strength to AP? i dont know if that makes sense coz im confusing myself.

66 0/36/21 shammy right now. I go 2 handed. Right now with Honed Voidaxe my windfurry adds up to about 1450+ in damage without crits put crits in there and I got up to 3400+ with my last axe when everything critted. Practically one hit quishies. Getting a windfurry with a one haded weapon just seems like I'm getting jipped. Looking forward to this axe and in my opinion Dual Wielding shammy's just aren't worth the talent points.

So my 2nd run through this instance this axe drops. Real nice with the socket bonus and everything. Everyone in the group said gratz to me. Well, this Shaman decides to roll on the weapon as well. Needless to say we tied at Need-14, and he won. He's lvl 70, I'm 69 warrior. After he won the roll, everyone in this PUG "WTF'd" this guy. I think Shaman are beastly now that they can Duel Wield. Just my Opinion.

What do you think? Who should have received the axe? He's Enhancement, and I'm Arms/Fury hybrid built for PvP. I guess I just thought I would ask. The roll determines who gets it right? Hmm..I just know that in my guild, that never would have happened. Oh well, I guess running Sethekk Halls til it drops can't hurt me. I'm at 500k xp right now, so it will be a good grind for something I want.

Nice axe, level 68 blue that has the same dps as level 70 blues! Great if you can pick it up at 68 and get some mileage out of it by leveling with it.

I'm a 70 ret paly who stayed at 69 and pwn'd with this until i had enough honor to level up to 70 and buy my full gladiator suit. This puppy worked very well. Damage is very great ecspecially if you have a high crit rate, not to mention you can slot it too! I strongly recommend to use this weapon for your duration until you hit 70, not to mention it looks pretty decent. Enjoy it, I know I did.

It was my 8th run through Sethekk Halls and we brought along a 69 Pally, it was her first run. The axe drops of the last boss. i was about to need it then she says i can't see the loot menu. so i existed out of the loot menu so wecan roll manually, as soon as i exist out of the loot menu she rolls needs on it and hearths. How gay was that!

Wished there was a ninja watcher to ban all the ppl who ninjas gear.

For the 3 red slots and a warrior what would be better. you can add 3 +8 Agility Ruby's or 3 +16 dmage ones. I am mainly speced as a MS warrior any advice would be helpful.

Well, in my opinion the Crow wing reaper is as big of a step up from the honed voidaxe, as the voidaxe is from the hellreaver. Plus it has sockets like neither of those other weapons have.

The Crow wing reaper should last you at least a level if not longer.

Not necessarily: it's still good for soloing things if you're holy / protection-spec, and believe it or not Retribution does have a role in end-game raiding (just not a big one), so anything to improve your DPS is a good thing.

i actually have this weapon, i heard it was the best pre heroic wep, and it fills all the areas MS spec wars need to do good dps, and because of the three sockets you can add crit rating to it, but i'm either debating on keeping this one, or going after plasma rat's in mech, which is better, 27 crit rating or 17 agil? i heard from someone on Dragonmaw that for war its 2 agil= .01 crit rating, so like if you added 2 agility it would go from like say 23.45 to 23.46, is this correct? and is the plasma rat's worth the hassle to get

No, this is not a hunter weapon.

I won this on my hunter, because nobody else wanted it and it was a greed roll.

And yes, i vendored it. d'you know why? because the stats of this are:

17 agi
33 stamina
3 red sockets

vs. the quill's

54 agi
33 stamina

Ask yourself, are 3 red sockets worth losing 37 agility COME ON even with hyjal gems you're not going to make up 37 agi with 3 red gems.

Oh i'm sorry, as i actually know how to play a hunter, i didn't notice the strength on this weapon...and neither should any hunter, because as a hunter str = entirely unused. You can count it as nothing

Just my 2 cents, vendor this, DE it, or let a shaman/warrior/pally get it. But whatever the hell you do, don't use this because if you've managed to get this without getting the quill then you're a bloody legend cos the quest giver is outside the instance

Very good weapaon for warriors. Dropped for my party tonight and of course a noob hunter needed on it and won it even if he was going to get the polearrm from the Quest, just the time to deliver the Quest he had completed. Bah.

Did Sethekk last night on my 65 prot warrior and got this from Ikiss. We ran the instance with two tanks, oddly enough. Me and a 70. The 70 didn't want it since there are better options available to him. Now I have three levels to decide if I want to respec arms and pvp with this wicked axe for a while!

Question for anyone else who has used it: What's the next upgrade? Is it from a heroic? Or one of the pvp weaps avaible for marks and honor?

This should never even be a real upgrade for a hunter. At most it would just be a toy. The quest for Terrok's Quill is found at the entrance to this instance and if you see this axe drop you've cleared the instance and have the Quill. great Polearm until you get Sonic Spear.

So note to all hunters, pass unless no one wants it.

i was in AB the other day and a samman hit me with one 231 the first hit. I dont know his spec.. but he sure didnt hit me high at all
