Obtainable during Children's Week. Were you help out the Orphan child who follows you around, more like stumbles, and you do a few quests for. Then you turn the child in and gain your reward.

Children's Week comes around the first or second week of May, as a seasonal thing in World of Warcraft.

To start the quest is at the orphan shelter in the Valley of Honor for Horde, or at the Cathedral for alliance.

After completing the task for the child, return the whistle to the Orphan Matron to recieve your award of the following:

When I was young druid of lvl15, 5G was a HUGE money for me ;) I readed about pets and thought they are complitely useless, and gold is gold. Now I have more than 20k, but lack pets for Lil' Game Hunter.
Please, dont do the same mistake as me ;))

Think of the children! Unless you have acquired each pet already, of course.

They may (big may) add "rewards" like that one for at least the Shattrath questline, too, since people were able to complete Veteran Nanny in 2009. *edit* Well as of 2010, they didn't. *edit1.5* and 2011 added 长腿.
*edit2* Patch 4.0.3 added new versions of the final quests of the Dalaran questline (Wolvar/Oracle) that award this item as well, I assume you'd get those quests if you repeat the questline for a pet you already have.

you know, the discussion is kinda useless.

Pets have absolutely no influence on gameplay. They are just for fun. Whoever likes them probably took one of these pets here. Whoever doesn't just took the money. It's no use yelling now "ZOMG! RU ST00PID u took the money/a pet ? WTFNOOB!"

I took the money because i have no space in my inv for stuff without purpose ^^
However i know someone who collects pets for fun, he has like 10 or so. Crazy guy ^^

For all you people who are like OMG 5g! NOWAI! THATS AMAZING! Get a 60... 5g is absolutley nothing, you can get that from an Ony kill. Go with Speedy, hes a turtle! either that or teh pig, the rat is gay, though funny when people try to attack him and cant ^_-

Pet: Who cares.
Money: Who cares.
If you took the pet, good for you.
If you took the money, good for you.
Either way, you complete an easy quest, and either way you got what you wanted.
Me, I'd take the pet on a level 60 or higher.
If I was on an alt, 5g ain't bad.

With having both these characters I'd probably take a pet for both. Money isnt worth it since I can farn in 10minutes like 8g, and my druid is already fully twinked.

Probably going with Mr. Speedy. I have somethin like 23 pets now... Yes I'm a crazy NE Drood (lvl 70). I can't wait to add mah turtle to the collection! Of course I'll get the others on alts... but still =P

Considering I spent 150g on a whelping pet and 5,000g to use a mount, 5g is the pennies you find in the sofa.

Get a twink rogue/druid and stealth into the enemy base with one of these pets out. Sure you may get caught, but it's fun to see them go 'WTFISTHAT!' before you die anyways :)

I really don't know which to pick. It's kind of tearing me apart. I'm a level 25 and I only have 14 gold, so 5 gold would be really nice... but the pet might be cute. Eck. Decisions, decisions.

5g v. cute little pet.

at a low lvl, 5g will come in handy, at a high lvl it's almost worthless, might as well get the pet. but it's really a choice you have to weigh: would you rather have cuteness or money?

This is kinda pointless, i got the pig cus i think its way cooler :) BTW i can earn around 300g a day if i want to but im on an RP server so the pet is kinda inportant to me, (i got around 12 pets now, my collection is little) so for RP the pet is cool, for pvp the pet is cool, for pve the pet is kinda cool, to wipe on raggy because of the pet is cool. :D GET THE PET!

this quest happens once (i think) and so the pets are much more rare so when you are like lvl 70 you can make 12g under a hour so if you chose the money then i would say you made a wrong choise

this arguement is ro redundent. go with which ever one you really want. i took the turtle, if you want the gold go ahead and take it, but its true that 5g is just 5g...and a pet is well..awsome. 5g really is nothing when u get to like lvl 40+ one of my guild friends has 30g at lvl 22 just because he loves to run vc.

in the decision which pet to take id say speedy the turle is the best, but then again i seem to really love turtles in general.

id also like to say that i saw a troll hunter with this in the bg. being a hunter myself we were just having a ranged war. he starts doing aimshot in the middle of the fight ( what a noob ) but then i see if he has a speedy out. i say omg and click on speedy to see if i might be able to attk it ( you cant it shows up as blue ) and the guy crits the aimed shot for 1500. ( in the lvl 49 cap ). long story short speedy is awsome =D

I know some people say: "Just keep making lvl 10 alts and do the quest over and over again"
And others say: "That'll take too long, like 7 hours for 5g!"
So make as many lvl 10 alts as possible BEFORE the event happens and get the FPs and all and you'll do the quest in 20 minutes or less.
