This used to be an orange (legendary) item, but is now white. See Blood Legion's Kel'thuzad kill video (Zonker's perspective) on youtube for reference (time stamp 13:46 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOpxCUuXDH8). It was guranteed drop for those on the quest 埃提耶什，被玷污的传说之杖. If two people were on the quest, then two would drop etc. The head dropped from Kel'thuzad in the original Naxx 40 instance from vanilla.

Kel' Thusad would have had to go down to get a hold of this, and according to the fo-rums it went to Nihilum guild, apparently it kept despawning for Death and Taxes, who got there first..I think

From how I understand the staff drops, one has to first assemble the Frame of Atiesh, then take it to Anachronos in Tanaris. (One would have to assume that they've butchered stuff in AQ40 enough to gain a decent rep with the Brood of Nozdormu, at least by the time the guild reaches Naxxramas...) Anachronos gives you the quest to collect the base (from C'Thun) and the head (from Kel'Thuzad). It would appear someone MUST have assembled the frame and spoken to Anachronos before they can get the other two pieces.

Considering how I hear the Kel'Thuzad fight is harder than any of the other big end-game bosses now, I think that's the "legendary" part of this legendary caster wep.

for those who are wondering the priest version of the staff was just completed by the us alliance guild Risen who killed KT and did the line of quests to get the staff afterwards (stratholme...)

who would try 2 find a million little splinters for one bloody staff it cant be that good it would take forever to find all of them why waist your time trying to find it but i guess some people like doin that stuff.

This staff is Medivh's staff. Medivh came fro mthe future because he failed the world and it was destroyed, so he came back to try to warn everyone of Arthas' betrayal and of the coming of the Burning Legion.

a friend of mine who has the frame and base already was telling me that since this is a quest item, more than one can be looted from the body if you more than one person already has all the required items already. confirm/deny?

No one has (legitimately) beaten Naxxramas yet, far as I know D&T are the only guild to have gotten to Sapphiron. The reason the Head has been uploaded is because it would've been shown as a requirement for the quest to finish the staff.
