First you turn in this head to Bolovar Fordragon, who can be found in the Stormwind Keep, from there you go to Major Mattingly who would be on your left if you were entering Stormwind. You can pick from 3 different items..

"If" there is not a head already hanging from the arch, then you will give the people of Stormwind a buff called "Rallying Cry of the Dragonslayer", granting 140 Attack Power, increasing critical chance of spells by 10% and melee and ranged critical chance by 5%. The buff lasts 2 hours, or until you die.

If you are horde, you turn the quest in to Thrall in the Vally of wisdom in Orgrimmar. He will then sane you to a NPC near the gates of Orgrimmar (Highlord Sumar i think).

Also, if you are a 300 Leatherworker, you can obtain the recipe for Onyxia Scale Cloak, an item REQUIRED for the later bosses in Blackwing Lair.

First you should give the head to all your tanks. Then I'd recommend to give it to your paladins if you are alliance, and lastly to the DPS classes like rogues and Hunters.

I'm curious. Does the quest started from obtaining this head act like the escort mechanical chicken quests, (i.e. "<name> is beginning <quest>. Accept? Yes, No") or does only the single person get it?

Can an individual hand in the head twice. For example week 1 hand in the head and get the pendant, then a week later hand the head in again for the tanking trinket?

1. instance reset at 21:53
2. Full raid meat outside at 22:00
3. 22:22 onixia is dead.
4. around 22:40 her head is raised in ogrimma.

thats how easy its is.

(for the record, I wasnt with the raid, just followed them over teamspeak)

anyone tried the complete the quest twice?
i'm just wondering because my item (the ring) isnt't unique so it should be possible to have it twice.
the raid won't allow me to get it another tiem until it is certain...

Some things about it:

First, the head is different than the Horde head, so the horde raids count it as the other droprate.

And about the mob levels... there's the alcohol factor. When you're drunk (like drinking a +10 stamina beer from DM), you sometimes see mob levels below their real level... up to 5 levels below. That's why you see differences. Hope it will be possible to get their real level soon =/

Ya, you gotta remember that allakhazam has been collecting data on wow probably since closed/open beta.

It's also the reason you see Molten Core mobs listed as being lvl 57-62 elites; at one time in beta the lvl cap was 55, not 60.

Still, it would be nice if they did a reset on some mobs after patches - in this case Onyxia.

Have any of the guilds attempted to give the head to the same person twice? Since none of the items are unique, the only limitation is whether or not the quest itself is repeatable. Just curious if anyone has tried it?

ok I really dont think it stays to show off in orgrimmar or stormwind for the servers lifetime. I think it only stays a little while (couple hours or couple days) then disappeers.

Since the reset of Onyxia is not on a 7 day cooldown, we killed her twice in a week and got two heads that we wanted to user for our ~3h MC run next Sunday.
But that did not work out. We placed the first head, ran MC till Ragnaros and went back to OG for the second buff which did not appear after turning in the quest.

So i there seems to be a cooldown as to how often a new Onyxia Buff is cast.
