For new Alliance Warriors, I highly recommend killing Nathanos Blightcaller to get this bow for it's stats

Im not 100% sure, because his arrows are usually the last thing you see, but this may very well be Nathanos "Blightcaller" Marris' very own bow, looted in the Alliance version, or gifted in the Horde version. Either way, it really is an honor.

Not quite sure about the particulars, but back in Vanilla, people used to get together in full out 40 man raids to complete this quest alliance side. On the Illidan server, Horde would frequently relay information about when this was happening, leading to an all out kill fest that, at the time, yielded no honor points since they had not yet been implemented. Best bow you could get for a tank for many months. Ah, the good old days.

Horde's version is a 61 elite quest to kill the Scarlet Oracle, Demetria. She's not terribly tough, though she does have a few guards, and be suicide runned pretty easily.

Alliance's version is a 62 *RAID* quest to drop Nathanos Blightcaller. He's got a couple 58 gold elite dogs with him who can be pulled separately and is himself a 62 gold elite boss type mob. What makes it insanely difficult is the 50 or so skeletons (Corrupted Soul of the Blightcaller) he starts spawning in as he takes damage. each is level 58, hits for around 150, and can't be AoE'd. Takes about 20 people to do it comfortably, all 56+. Ideally, you want a maintank or two, a couple healers to keep them alive through Blightcaller's damage, and then as much DPS as you can bring. Whoever aggros the skeleton horde is going down and going down hard, so most groups tend to focus on just dropping the target. It goes without saying that if you die, don't release, since your group will probably kill him and you will get credit. =)

ah, but you can get a hurricane at lvl 48, at no effort, if you have the money to blow. But for the gorewood, you have to wait till 60, and go through a killer raid (for the alliance at least).

hurricane also (supposedly) interrupts casters a lot more than gorewood, because of the higher speed.

sadly that means aimed shot ambushes crit for less with the hurricane. but atleast they take less time.

We completed this with a group of about 15, most level 60s, a few 57+.

We had a priest along for healing, only had one full wipe when pulling the dogs and a hunter pet got loose and ran for Blight or something (we still killed both dogs and rezzed before they respawned, so just had Blight and the skeletons left). We had no healer problems like the previous poster mentioned, and completed pretty quickly, focusing all firepower on Blight, and cleaning up the skeletons at the end.

This bow gives awesome stats. 90 health, and all the others. Great for a tank. And its free.

If you are a tank, I suggest getting this weapon. The plus to stamina with a little strength and agility is hard to beat.

You won't find a gun that's better than this as far as boosting your stats and at this stage of the game, doing 30 to 50 more points of damage from a gun shot compared to the 1 bow shot means absolutely nothing when pulling.

Throw in that it's a quest reward, very good weapon to go after warriors.

hmm starting to wonder if any off you have ever done this quest...:P

Alliance:

first of all, to obtain this quest, you need to complete the quest Dragonkin menace from burning steppes... after this, theres alot of running around that gives you some nice xp, with little effort:D

i have still to find a group for this raid quest, but im hoping too find one soon;D

btw, if you ever wanna do Onyxia... you might wanna get your ass moving and do this;)

I got this bow as an upgrade to my Verdant Keeper's Aim. I'm really surprised how much damage it does. I use Ice Threaded Arrows and sometimes I get 2k+ Aimed shot and 1k+ autoshot and multishot crits! Doesn't happen too often, though. Also, what's funny is that when I used this to down onyxia in a 35 man raid recently, I ended up #8 on the damage charts and not too far behind with a few people above me, all whom have epics. Found that rather amusing considering it's not so great.

hang around by the 2 gaurd captains in trade dis. after awhile (if youre 56+) one of em will tell you youre recruited and bolvar wants to see and wlaa you started the chain for this rly crappy bow =D

As a 60 Dwarf tank I've been using the Shell Launcher since I was high enough to use it. However when we downed the Blightcaller I easily chose this over the shield because of the Stamina bonus. Hell I don't even care if I hit anything with it :)

FYI in week I've gotten my bow skill almost to 100 :)

Did this last night with a group of 20 he is quiet hard if the agro is not keep on him killed him in the end jst nuke him down then kill the rest after got the bow now i need to train my skill up. good luck to any1 eles who trys :)

The way we killed Blight was easy, we just had the warriors tank, then everyone else full dps the guy, and had absolutely NO healing. we havd a 20 man

just start spamming the general channel in IF and you will get a group rather quick. Did this with 11 people, and went all out on blightcaller. Group wiped but we killed him too. Even took down a few horde in the process.

Goth 8 from IF and the rest from EPL, so just start asking and it's an easy kill. Just remember, DPS is the key. don't worry about heals, and just go all out on him. end of story.

if u can use this at lvl 1 thats crazy becuase you could just get a rich friend to buy it for u than your set for the game becuase this bow would do crazy damage when used on a lvl 1-4 mob!

I just got this today after a wild and crazy time killing Blightcaller. Compared to my Gryphonwing, the min/max damage isn't as high (285 max with this compared to 296 with gryphonwing), but the rate of fire is higher, so DPS is overall higher. If you're upgrading from a Gryphonwing or Verdant Keeper's Aim, that's something to keep in mind.

Easily one of the best boys for warriors, pre-ZG/MC. I recommend this to any warrior for its nice stamina and additional strength and agility.

Not that easy a quest; a couple of hordier hung around Blightcaller when they saw us gathering, but we hid for a while and they scuttled off :P - Not that Blightcaller himself was easy... we were 14 and got him down after second wipe, and then we wiped again from all those skeletons he spawn - but hey! It was fun, I wont complain :)

It's a bit fast for my taste (larger arrow consumption D: ) but definatly better than my Verdant Keeper's.
