This toad animates sticking out his tongue to catch a little blue fly and jumping in place. I've blown him hundreds of kisses, alas, it must not be my prince. The schematic cost me 100g on the AH and purchasing the mats, per toad, run around 22g. This sells easily for 50g each. Minipet collectors don't care if it has the same skin as another toad, they care that they have ALL the toads. Happy Hopping.

I got the schematic on the AH for about 50'ish gold months ago. Once the Pet Achievements when live, I made a few and figured "lets see what happens". All three sold in the AH in about 5 minutes and I had them up for BO at 85g.

After that I made 12 more: 6 into the Horde AH, 4 into the Neutral AH, and 2 to sell by trade channel. I priced all of them at 95g and set them at 48hrs, then logged off. Logged in the netxt day after work and I had sold every toad i put in a AH.

I spent about 250g for mats I didnt have (I am a miner and Engineer) but ended up making just under 1100g (after AH cut) in 1 night. =D So as the above poster stated, these are a gold mine at the moment.

Got the schematic today, made 1 for me, 1 for a friend, and 3 to sell on AH at 95g each BO.

If these sell as well as above posters say, they just may pay for my epic flyer. =D

These will sell solidly for 99G BO on my server. Things have calmed down since the first week of the release, where they sold for more like 299G each!

It's a shame these are going to reach critical mass at some point. They don't get expended from the market, so once everyone's got one the damand will drop off, make your money while you can, I'm going to wait for the price to come down.

People will buy these for over 300g on my server. Recently, though, one player has been posting a dozen at a time for 80-100g. I just cringe and resist the urge to send him a mail letting him know how stupid he is.

If you get the recipe and don't see any others on the AH, put one up for a high price. Maybe half the price of the cheapest dragon whelp. Unless Thorium is dirt cheap on your server, which is highly unlikely, you'll make more gold selling fewer of these at higher prices each. (And even if you do see other players posting these, use common sense and undercut them by 5-10g.)

I bought the schematic off the AH on Argent Dawn for about 10g. This was around 2 years ago. I've never really used it until I linked my profession to someone and they told me that there are few engineers who can make one. I've been selling them slowly on the AH now for about 100-200g per. I'm trying not to glut the market. I rarely see anyone else selling them.

I make a ton off of these. About a year ago, I luckily found the schematic in a lock box after doing a random instance (can't remember which one) even though the schematic's page doesn't say it can be found in a lockbox.

Before Wrath, I could make these for 10g and sell them for 60g within 30 minutes. Now I can make them for about 15g and sell them for 120g in the same amount of time.

This thing is almost a license to mint coin.

Depending on your server economy, those pets can sell somewhere between 100-250g. I've tried different pricing and found out that I'm being able to sell them for 100g in a matter of hours, while if I post them for 150g and higher I might find them back in my mailbox, though there aren't many crafters around and thus undercutting is quite uncommon.

Anyway, crafting the pets is really easy and profitable.

1x Living Essence: 1-2g
1x Rugged Leather: 1g
4x Runecloth: 1g
1x Gold Power Core: 35-65s (assuming 1-2g per Gold Bar)
12x Thorium Bar: 12g

Total: 15g 35s - 16g 65s.

Almost 85g profit without leaving auction house for more than couple of minutes and several clicks. If thorium is overpriced on your server, you might have much smaller profit, but if farming it yourself is an option, go for it. Even if you don't craft the toads, you can still sell the ore.

If you can see this at auction house i suggest to buy it even if the price migth be high like 500g or so since ive made huge fortune by selling these . Since the drop rate of this recipe is really low + the pet collectors wanna catch em all. also crafting pet bombling and lil smoky is well worth the time u play while getting the mats.

After three years of trying to get this schematic to drop and searching for it in the AH, I finally decided to give in and buy a toad in the AH for ~350g. Of course, the same day, I also found the schematic for less than 8g (!) and, because of all of the lovely pet achievements, have been making a whole lotta gold off of them ever since. They are still selling strong on my server for anywhere from 300-600 gold per toad. The mats are pretty inexpensive since I have alts with the skills to get most of them and all I usually have to buy is the living essence, which is very cheap on my server--and I notice that many times, I'm the only one selling them. If you find the schematic and are an Engineer, definitely worth making and selling them in the AH. As another poster said, people are making alts all the time and the multiple pet achievements make this a must-have for mini-pet collectors. Enjoy the profits!

To the guy saying it only looks identical to a normal frog, well, it should. I believe it's a reference to "Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep" by Philip K. *!@# (adapted for the basis of Blade Runner.) In the book a toad is found, and is of course incredibly life-like, but unfortunately turns out to be just an ersatz animal, it's even found in a barren wasteland-esque area, too. If it is a reference, and the fact that it even has 'lifelike' in the name which leads me to believe it is, then it should look quite identical to a real toad. I personally would like to get one of therse in game, myself, as I'm a big PKD fan; I think the real 'cool' factor here is if you're a fan of the book and stumble on this more so than just the visual appearance of it.

...Lifelike Mechanical Toad. Name says it all. It can be a little disappointing, but I'm dying for this schematic. I'm building a full menagerie of all the clockwork critters, and the toad is a gem.

Of course, it's a drain on resources, and it looks normal. It's still windup, and that makes it cooler than a cyborg ninja zombie pirate.

I bought this from the AH for 5g...and almost didn't as it was early in my WoW experience and that was pretty much all my gold. I've never seen it since. Stallion on Lightbringer, if anyone wants one. I love my toad.

12 thorium bars (on ah usally a 20bar are sold at 7g)
4 runecloth
1 living essence
1 gold power core
1 rugged leather.

If you buy everything you need on Auction House this will cost you about 9-10 in a lucky day. I have made one for personal use, and of course it looks funny to see a a toad jumping around and following you during raids or an istance. You can joke about and tell your friends "hey, look at my new friend, I have made it and he looks like real :D". But I really think mechanical squirrel looks better. The point is: everyone can have a mechanical squirrel, couse of low level recipe (35 in engineering, will be one of your first works and one of your first bought pattern) but very few people can have this toad. Why? look at the prices, look at the drop rate of the recipe, look at the price of the recipe in AH. And it needs 265 in engineering, so you will need to find a skilled engineer (suppose a lvl 50+ engineer that can find materials and the recipe) willing to do this.

How much I would sell it on AH? 14 gold starting bid and about 18-20 gold buyout. Noone works for free...and you will be a cool player on your server, right? :D

I got this schem for 50g-ish on the AH. Definitely worth it, because I consider it a personal hobby to collect every schematic in the game, and this one surely is a gem.

Just need to get me a living essence to make one..

And for the record; it is in fact the coolest due to its unique-ness.

I found this schematic on AH.. as I do most of the things I 'have' to have, and think I spent about 75g. Hey.. money comes and goes but loot is here to stay!

Made the dang thing and WTF.. didn't know 'life-like' meant it looks EXACTLY like the friggen 1g frogs from the dang Faire!

Was VERY disappointed. Spent a butt load for the schematic.. and about 10g or so (as one of the above poster mentioned) for the mats all to get a friggen FROG that looks TOO LIFELIKE. I have a Jubling.. why would I want this?

Oh well..I am confident Blizz will come up with an idea to store our pets so we don't have to be so picky and choosy for bag space.

And just knowing the schematic is good for me. But I will prolly never be asked to make it.

Picked up the Schematic on the AH for 1 gold 8 silver buyout.

Of the 3 servers I've played on and 5 engineers I've taken to 300 skill, it's the only time I've noticed it on the AH.

What's the difference between this and the Wood frog? they look the same from the pics, does this one make more mechanical sounds or something? Just trying to find a reason to pay 30g for this toad instead of the 1g for the Wood frog. or to even get the mats to make one when you can just buy a tree or wood frog. Many people laugh at the Lifelike Mechanical Toad(LMT) because they are unaware of that to which it is a reference. In Philip K. &*!@'s book, Do Andriods Dream of Electric Sheep, the basis for the movie Blade Runner, there is a section about a man finding a toad in the desert. Since real animals are all but extinct on Earth at the time, it's a rare find indeed. (The character never finds out, but the toad is, in fact, a mechanical reproduction.) So, voila! You've got your obscure literary reference, one of countless many in WoW.

It begs the question though, Did the "explosive sheep" come before the LMT? Did the phrase "do androids dream of explosive sheep" go through a developers mind at some point, leading to the LMT, or vice-versa? Inquiring minds want to know.

It took me quite a few weeks to find this schematic, but I finally got it. Paid way more than it is worth, but I wanted it that badly (I'm a collector of pets). I now have my own toad..hmm, very lifelike. I can make them for anyone who wants one if you are on the Eonar server. Send an in game mail to Pyxia to negociate a price, although I will make for free with your mats.

I also sell them on the AH, but at a greatly marked up price. Hey, I gotta recoup what I paid for that darn schematic!
