Unfortunately the armor bonus from this kit is applied after a druid changes to bear form. It does not get their multiplier.

Has anyone tried applying an armor kit through the trade window? With the upcoming changes to leg armor kits in 3.1 I'd be interested to know if a level 39 twink could have a level 40+ character apply this to level 35+ BoP pants.

you get in the mail from https://www.wowhead.com/cata/quest=7738. As with a light armor kit I recieved while questing in 1k Needles, it was also able to be used on my Heirloom Chest, even though it said it needed ilvl35.

as of now 8/9/2010 i could not apply this armor kit to the pair of tuxedo pants, even when i was on my lv 80 main. the tuxedo pants were level 35, and this kit says 35, but when i try to use it, it says "target too low level".

I just put it on Haliscan Pantaloons today and worked perfectly. They are level 1, but considered 35 also.........twink, twink, twink!

He's in the dwarven stronghold, two levels down and also has Rugged Leather (to convert from Thick Leather) and Cured Rugged Hide.

Since Naxxramus landed in the world of Azeroth the Argent Dawn have been fighting the Scourge on the front lines. They accept donations after you have a "Craftsman Writ", these are one of the donations. In exchange for the donations you get Insignias (Dawn & Crusade), these you can exchange for goodies. You need 25 kits to fill the order.

i learned thick armor kit (+32) and i dont see at the master leatherworking rugged(+40) to learn ? What i do ? its a recipe i have to find or ...something else ?

I tried to apply this to a pair of quest gloves last night and I got a message to the effect of the target level is too low. I'm level 41 at the time of trying to apply this, and since the gloves are a quest item, there is no level requirement for them.

What gives?

Seems like some people here can't read..
"Requires Level 40" - YOU must be at least lvl 40
"Only usable on items level 35 and above." - Your gear must be ABOVE lvl 35.

lvl 35 required on the gear and lvl 40 to be able to use and this does not concern after equipping, there is no lvl requirement for equipping the gear, well 35 is the minimum lvl cause that's the lowest lvl this stuff is enchanttable on

Yah, Veck is right, all armor kits require your characters lvl to be that of the armor kits in order to use them. I'm telling you this as a lvl 300 Tribal Leatherworker so I should know.

I just wanted to say, I think these could be very useful to feral druids. The reason for this being the 360% armor bonus in Dire Bear form applies to any source of armor points.

Just thought I'd throw that out there to see what you guys think.

You're wrong about it being the required level on items and not for you to use it. I couldn't use the thick armor kit at 29 but at 30 I could use it and right now I have it on a pair of pants with required level 29.

A level 35 character wearing level 35 armor can benefit from these, but he/she will need help from a character who is level 40 or higher to install the armor kits. Instead of saying "Requires level 40," it should say "Requires level 40 to install." As long as the character applying them to a piece of armor is level 40, these can be installed on armor level 35 and up. I am 100% positive about this. I am also positive that a level 60 character will not be able to install these on a piece of armor that is level 34 or lower.

The level requirment for armor kits isn't your level, it's the level of the gear. You can't put a kit on any piece of armor with a lower required level than the kit. On quest items, it's kind of iffy. Just try a lower level kit if the one you have won't stick.

These things are money makers i can tell ya!

I always buy all the rugged leather on AH i can find, for about 2g a stack. Then i got make rugged armorkits with them, i sell a stack of Rugged armorkits between 14-18g... thats over 10g profit per stack!
And i keep doing this every day! Easy money. Does 50g+ a day easy if your lucky

I spoke with a GM about the level requirement. The level requirement of 40 does not mean that your character has to be 40. It means that the level of the ITEM you are applying it to must be 40 or higher. (If it's a quest item, it will not say what level the item is. Whatever attain level the quest is is what you can assume the reward's level to be.)

To be able to make Rugged Armor kit you need to visit the master Leatherworking trainer in Wildhammer keep (Aliance). This is at Aerie Peak in the North West of The Hinterlands.
You will need a leatherworking level of 250+ to get the three rugged leather things (Make rugged leather from thick leather; make rugged armor kit; cure rugged hide). Each item costs about 50s to learn.
