The Softpaw cage is nearby left entrance, and her spear is on the left side, sheild on the right side, can pick up when encounter start.

Softpaw will be scared before get weapons and run around, even can run out and disappear (but she well respawn if you reset boss, not bad), so pick up weapon at encounter start and give her weapons as soon as she rescued is better.

Couldn't use the action buttons to give her her weapons and shield until she's out of the cage, so we had 1 person open it and then 2 different people hand her her weapons. :)

Criteria:
Defeat Hackclaw's War-Band after freeing Chief Softpaw, equipping her with a spear and shield, and making sure she survives in Brackenhide Hollow on Mythic difficulty.

Strategy:
Before starting the encounter, take a look around the room. There will be a cage and two weapon racks. One player must open the cage while the other two collect the items from the weapon rack and return them to Chief Softpaw. Once the cage is open, the NPC will run around in fear until the items are equipped, so it is recommended that players with high mobility are the item returners.

Important tip: The bosses can and will kill Chief Softpaw, so do your best to bait any AoE abilities away and defeat the encounter as quickly as possible.

Something I hadn't seen mentioned, or in the videos I saw, but you can equip Chief Snowpaw almost instantly. We didn't need to wait until she was free to grab the weapon and shield.

You can also free her late, and finish the boss off, so there's less risk to her dying or taking damage.

Very buggy, sometimes Softpaw doesn't become an active fighter after giving her both the shield and the spear, then they run out of the arena forcing you to reset the fight until it eventually works.

Instructions for Growlbossify: In this achievement you need to free Chief Softpaw, and equip him with a spear and shield found around the boss area (video link above marks where these are). Using world markers on the locations of the spear and shield beforehand makes it easier, assigning two persons to bring the spear and shield simultaneously once the encounter is started. Don’t take long to give the spear and shield to Softpaw as he may run off in fear and you’ll have to reset the boss and start over. Once he has both items, Softpaw will start battling the boss. You also have to make sure that Chief Softpaw survives so it may require some healing if the fight takes long.

With the release of 10.1 patch, the npc does not spawn, making it impossible to do the achievement.

Edit: Its fixed now according to a blue post .

For some reason I can't open the cage at all...anyone have insights? I thought it must be the wrong case but I confirmed with the video.

DO NOT PICK UP WEAPONS BEFORE FREEING SOFTPAW.
chain bugged for us when we picked up before freeing them, but worked first time picking up shield+spear after freeing them

It's not particularly easy, but it can be done solo. I just left Hackclaw alive after killing the other two, grabbed the spear, waited for Hackclaw to start bladestorming and then jumped over to the cage, opened it, gave Softpaw the spear, ran to the shield, then ran back to Softpaw and gave her that, then killed Hackclaw.

Softpaw in the meantime will run around, and if she runs out of the arena, you're out of luck and just have to reset the fight by walking Hackclaw out to try again. I got it on third attempt.

As mentioned in a previous comment, this is possible to complete solo.

The key for me was to quickly kill Tricktotem and Gashtooth and keeping Hackclaw at around 50%

You then want to rush quickly and unlock the cage, once you've done this just run back to Hackclaw and let Softpaw pick where they want to run too (It doesn't matter where but will likely be outside of the area on either side.

The trick is to move towards the side where she has fleed and grab that item, wait until Hackclaw begins to cast and when he does run to Softpaw and use the item.

Then you need to quickly run and grab the other item, bait his ability and then equip the second item to Softpaw, they will then run into the zone and all you need to do is kill the final boss.

The issue for most people is that the boss resets when you run to Softpaw outside of the zone, allowing him to be mid-cast stops him resetting.
