If this has 67,000 health at level one, I'd hate to see how much it would have at level 70!

This pet has four possible stat sets.

In addition to the base 100hp, it can have:

63 hp/lvl, 9 pwr/lvl, 10 spd/lvl
54 hp/lvl, 10 pwr/lvl, 10 spd/lvl
51 hp/lvl, 9 pwr/lvl, 12 spd/lvl
51 hp/lvl, 10 pwr/lvl, 11 spd/lvl

Based on 20 different instances of the same pet.

Battle Information

1st Slot: Claw (1) / (10) Quills
If your Blue Dragonhawk Hatchling has a high speed rating, then sticking to Claw will generally be better due to its guaranteed full damage. If you are fighting an aquatic pet, and your pet is a slower breed, then Quills could be chosen for it's chance at an extra attack.
2nd Slot: Rake (2) / (15) Conflagrate
For offensive power, Conflagrate is a better option. Combined with the burning debuff given by your third slot abilities, Conflagrate can deal heavy damage. Rake could be situationally used against a pet if you know a heavy attack is coming (such as Burrow or Lift-Off).
3rd Slot: Flame Breath (4) / (20) Flamethrower
Flamethrower should only be considered if you are using this pet as an opener. Otherwise, Flame Breath offers better single target damage.

Notes: Blue Dragonhawks have the Speed and Health breeds available, meaning that they can be highly competitive if upgraded to Rare through the use of a battle-stone. Rare Blue Dragonhawk Hatchlings of the 5th/15th breed has 1806 Hp, which is equal to the 20th highest Hp out of all the battle pets!

Level and Quality aren't the only factors that determines a Battle Pets stats. One of the reasons many Wowhead users are posting inconsistent stats for a given level or quality is because pets can also come in a number of different breeds.

The following table will display relevant statistics at level 25 for each breed of this pet.

To determine what breed your pet is, you can use the Pet Breed IDs addon. It will display the Breed ID of enemy pets when a battle starts in the chatbox. Or, if you want to find the Breed of a pet you have already caught, put the pet in your first battle slot, then type /breedid.

Breeds 4/14, 5/15 and 6/16 are the best breeds which have the maximum of 2 points spread focused in one of the three stats (Health, Power and Speed). 7/17, 8/18 and 9/19 are the second best with a total of 1.8 points spread across two stats, while 10/20, 11/21 and 12/22 have 1.7 total points with a minor focus in one stat. 3/13 is the worst breed with 1.5 total points spread evenly across all three stats. Poor quality pets are not included in this table, mostly due to space restriction but also because there is no point in leveling a poor quality pet to 25.

A moment's word about Dragonhawks.

There are a number of dragonhawk small pets, and they're all basically the same: The Golden, Red, Blue, and Silver Dragonhawk Hatchlings have identical typing and movesets, but they have different stat priorities and avaliable breeds. So, I'm going to start with the moves.

Button 1: Claw or Quills
Naturally, which one you take here depends on how reliably you think you can outspeed your enemy. Every dragonhawk hatchling can break 300 speed, so in a fast breed they can all take quills. Some of them are naturally slower, though, and if in a slowish breed may have a hard time getting the extra quills damage reliably

Button 2: Rake or Conflagrate
Okay, so Rake does somewhat light damage and halves the enemy's next attack, while conflagrate does massive damage and more if the target is burning. A Dragonhawk's third move always applies the burn effect, so conflagrate will be able to do its extra damage no matter which move you prefer. I can't really see any reason to run with Rake.

Button 3: Flame Breath or Flamethrower.
Take Flamethrower for type reasons only. Flame Breath does more initial damage, and while Flamethrower does slightly more damage per tick, Flame Breath ticks for twice as long. If you anticipate needing elemental damage over and above the damage that Conflagrate is already going to do, I guess you could justify Flamethrower. Otherwise, Flame Breath is plain better.

The blue hatchling comes in a unique breed: H/H, which leaves its L25 stats as 1806/244/260. A blue H/H is the one time I might actually consider rake, because you're clearly using it as a tank. However, the dragonhawk moveset just does not lend itself towards tanking, and the extra base health does very little to help if you don't have avoidance or healing moves. Nice try, game, but I still prefer burning conflagrates.

Dragonhawk breakdown:

Silver Dragonhawk Hatchling - Quick Silver, the S/S hawk.
· Comes in S/S, S/B, B/B
· Fastest by a long shot (358 top speed). Good for Quills
Red Dragonhawk Hatchling - Red Hot, the P/S hawk.
· Comes in S/S, P/S, B/B
· Highest possible power (306). Excellent burn damage potential.
Blue Dragonhawk Hatchling - Big Blue, the H/S hawk.
· Comes in H/H, S/S, P/S, B/B
Phoenix Hawk Hatchling* - Mario, the B/B "not really a dragon-" hawk.
· Comes in S/S, H/B, S/B
Golden Dragonhawk Hatchling - Golden Ratio, the H/P hawk.
· Comes in S/S, B/B

*ironically, Phoenix Hawk Hatchling gives up the lvl 15 & 20 Dragonhawk fire spells Conflagrate & Flamethrower for the standard flying spells Flyby & Lift-Off

Observations (stats based on level 25 rares)

Red P/S has the highest possible power. Silver S/S has the highest possible speed. These are the ideal breeds.
Red S/S, Silver S/B, and Gold S/S are the best "balanced" breeds. Of these breeds
· Red S/S has the highest power & speed.
· Silver's S/B drops power for some health.
· Gold S/S gives up speed for more health.
Gold S/S > Silver B/B by 16 power.
Blue's P/S > Phoenix S/B by 16 health
Phoenix H/B > Blue's B/B by 13 power in exchange for only 3 speed and 17 health
Blue just has too much health to be useful. Without sustain, the added health isn't enough to compensate for giving your opponent 2 extra turns to set up a combo. And if your opponent has sustain, you'll pretty much be rendered useless.
Phoenix's second line spells are all bird spells, which is great if you're fighting all birds & fish but a Dragonkin dealing Humanoid damage is going to wreck you.
