Hmm can these be used on a single enemy and or do they go all over the place in a area in front of the player?

Can they crit and if so could these trigger Pyroblast!

Q: What is needed to reproduce the cinderstorm travel arc? I guess both the movement of the bunch of cinders, and the cinders themselves bunching/spreading.

That's gunna be a tough one to explain. The paths of each cinder are 100% consistent, other than a tiny variance on each one. They each follow a circular path, with you and a point 35yd* 29-33yd directly in front of you being points on the circle, and the radius increasing for each cinder. It's probably easiest for you to just have a Mage fire them at a viewer who has their camera zoomed out and pointed downward, over and over, and take a bunch of screenshots/video, and merge those somehow to see the paths they follow.

(*I think it's 35yd, not in the office to check, will double-check tomorrow.)

Double-checked, the convergence distance is actually 29-33yd (randomly chosen once for the whole cast).

Missiles are 9.17degrees off from each other. They stop their circular path and travel straight after reaching that convergence point.

I love this ability, but I'm still having trouble justifying it over Meteor other than just revealing things in pvp. Meteor is such a powerful way of manipulating the crowd, forcing people to move from a specific place or take massive damage, that it's hard for me to justify using this spell.

The cooldown is very short and it's not easy to line up the damage unlike Meteor, and it's worth considering that it does not seem to trigger Hot Streak. The time you put into casting cinderstorm could be put into Fireball and triggering guaranteed hot streaks - which can be used with Flamestrike to aoe targets instead (with Flamepatch this becomes far more formidable single target than Pyroblast if the target stays in the aoe), using Meteor for aoe burst or Kindling for more frequent instant Flamestrikes.

The 30% increase in damage feels to me like it's not the mechanic that you are trying to exploit to make this ability work, but rather an awkward limitation to its ability to achieve damage. Even with the boost and managing to hit the target with all 6 cinders (so, a raid boss), it deals little less damage than a flamestrike with Flame Patch, which you're sure to be splashing around willy nilly.

I really want this spell to be better than Meteor in some way, even if it's just in terms of the Ignite mechanic, it's just that... it's not. I would suggest making it refresh the damage on, and force the spread of, existing ignites on targets hit (something like how Blood Boil spread Necrotic Plague in Warlords), rather than just becoming less disappointing if the target hit happens to be on fire.

I guess it's quite efficient on bosses with fat hitbox such as Mannoroth that you can't miss:

If ignited (almost always): 6*1.30*65 = 507% spell damage, more than a Pyroblast

I've found two things I enjoy this for, neither mainstream parts of the game:

solo raiding trivial content - it's another very effective room clearer / puller cooldown to add to your living bomb, dragon's breath, etc.

plus sort of similar, invasion and other want-to-tap-everything-fast situations

In both cases it's not that it's necessarily better than other cooldowns, its just that it's one more cooldown that keeps you from running out of them.

Most importantly. This spell needs Pirlo , Beckham or someone with high curl accuracy to hit the target.
