Enslaved a felguard from one of the forge camps and used it to kite him to the Consortium camp. I had to move around the camp quite a bit to get the guards to aggro, but the felguard stayed alive until Durn was at around 25%. There were literally 50 guards on him by that point and he went down really fast.

I can confirm that the guards of the Consortium Base do NOT help you when Durn attacks you.

It seems that the Consortium guards will help you, but only if they are attacked by him AoE. We had a mage draw aggro and kite to the camp who is Friendly rep with the Consortium and they did nothing to help until Durn attacked with AoE. I don't believe that a higher rep would make them assist you without them being attacked, unless anyone has evidence to the contrary.

Used to be able to drag him to a town close but this is no longer possible, seeing as how he's leashed.

I cant do the quest and Im lvl 67....I clicked on the poster and the dude right beside it...says Im not registred or somethin like that...I dont know how to get the quests! could someone tell me how I get the quests from the board?

If you're a disenchanter, pick the lightblade, it has a 0.2 chance for voidcrystal and, it dropped for me! :)

They don't help you when players from the opposing faction attack you, either. :/

Having just done "The ultimate Bloodsport" quest to kill Tusker as a level 66 affliction lock, by enslaving a felguard from forge camp hate, I thought I'd give it a try tanking Durn with one too...that didn't go too well :p the felguard died when Durn was approximately at 75% (and I had at that time already taken aggro once), so I don't think it can be done as an affli lock at this level.
If you do give soloing him a try, I found he didn't follow me very far. When the felguard was at low health I ran away and he followed for roughly half the distance/time a normal mob would.

For a little advice just head towards the rock to the north( near the orc base ) and stand in front of them so when he aoe's you'll get hit back in to the rocks(only a couple of feet) and not miles away ,make it easier for the healer to heal you and Always have a HOT on you

As of 4.3, he is no longer elite and can be soloed by a level appropriate player.

Note that this quest is offered by Warden Bullrok, not by the bulletin board. Additionally, if you have already completed the Obsidian Beads quest (which is extremely likely,) he won't have a yellow exclamation point offering you a quest, but rather a blue question mark. It took me an embarrassingly long time to figure out that if I talked to him he had the quest to offer, even without the exclamation point.

Sorry to report that they have nurfed Durn. He's now just a regular 67.

I finally completed this quest today. I had left the game and just came back yesterday. One thing I think you need to do to get Durn to spawn is to make sure Banthar is not spawned. I killed him about 5 times and finally Durn spawned. I hope this helps someone trying to find Durn. :-)

I had a lot of difficulty finding him originally and eventually I decided to check wowhead so I waited around 34,60 whilst checking. I heard him stomping around in the background and there he was. They aren't kidding when they say he's huge.

Basically, if you just wait in one spot he should be pretty easy to find.

For those without coordinates, Durn the Hungerer spawns every 3-5 minutes at this location.

Slay Durn the Hungerer. Return to Warden Bullrok if you manage to complete this task.

Description

You have destroyed two of the biggest threats in Nagrand, <name>. Are you ready to take on the scourge of the Spirit Fields?

Durn the Hungerer lords over the area surrounding Oshu'gun, decimating all in his path. Thus far, none have been able to rid Nagrand of this ferocious gronn. Venture to the Spirit Fields, far southwest of here, near Oshu'gun, and track down Durn. Slay him and I assure you rewards commensurate with the difficulty of the task at hand.
