The blood elves around his body drop the item you need. However, its a hard drop to get. Just keep killing until you get it.

Bloody ages.. Killed 100+, got 100 of them shards.. lots of wool and linen too, expect to be there for up to ages..

Tbh, these kind of quests are my favourite. You have to kill an insane amount of mobs if you're very unlucky, but doing so gives you an amazing amount of xp and drops (in this case wool/linen cloth).

Must be my luck then, that I had to swat ~10 to get it. I believe it's safe to assume this is the equivalent to finding the Creeper Ichor in Hillsbrad for the poor hordelings. I got my first after 277 kills, while two friends got theirs on their 1st and 10th kills.

i'm currently doing this as a level 16 priest. i just want to say that the respawn rate here is insane and their fire spells are hitting me for 70-80, so if i get more then 2 i'm screwed. All that on top of the fact that i've killed over 100 of them and still no amulet.

Aside from that, make sure to grab the quest in the journal next to Galaen's body.

40,58 is where i got it too in between 2 small hills from a lvl 16 next to one of those boxes the reappear from an earlier quest

Wowhead's estimated drop rate of 2.8% is entirely believable! Got ours after we killed perhaps 30-35 mobs. Respawn rate is good enough that you can kill all you need solo from a position opposite the entrance to the Cryo Core. Bear in mind that you will need to enter the Core (best place is round the back, there's a hole in the wall) to find Galaen's body and journal, which I think lead to two more hand-ins.

All the mobs here use fire, so come prepared.

There is a stealthed lvl 18 "rare" mob in the area. It is a BE rogue named Fenissa the Assasin. I got lucky that I was at 75% health and mana (lvl 16 mage), but I did have to pot.

It is indeed at the Cryo-Core, and the drop rate is a tad uncertain. It can drop on your 2nd kill or your 54th.

The quest 'Intercepting the Message' (http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=9779) leads to 'I Shoot Magic Into the Darkness' (http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=9700), which unlocks 'The Cryo-Core' (http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=9703).
You habe to loot boxes that are lying around this site, so you might want to do both at once.

Quite possibly bugged in 2.4.
I've been killing the right mobs for one hour and thirty minutes now (yes, really) and still no drop.
I'll be reporting this to a gamemaster and report back here if it turns out to, indeed, be a broken quest in 2.4.

I was lucky enought to get it on the 6th kill. I was 19lv hunter, so they were easy to kill.

This quest takes a really long time...
I just did it on my now lvl 16 mage. He ding'd twice while I was farming the amulet... Don't underestimate the length of time it may take
On the plus side, I killed the rare and got a Silvermoon Tunic of the Wild.

Just got the amulet using my 19 rogue - about 20 kills. In that I killed their somebody the assasin & got a BoE mail "Silvermoon armor of the wild" which will be perfect for my 13 paladin.

This IS a pain Q for someone late on the quest thread, like me.

Of course it wasn't enough to give one of the worst droprates in WoW to this quest, they had to make all the enemies casters. And no, they didn't stop there but had to make these casters run halfway across the area to pick up a little box that spawned every four seconds, so just as you sit down to eat/drink another one of those buggers comes over and kills you with his fireball!

I did this with my Level 20 Wogen-Hunter-Marks. and pet. Start killing around the book /journal, work your way around and it will drop. Tight fighting in the area, but I survived. Turned quest-Complete.

What a nightmare this quest is! EVen for a level 85 doing the achievement for quests.Took me about an hour but if you just keep killing the elves outside the building it does drop!

The drop rate must have improved some time between v5 and v6. I've done this a couple of times now and the most it took was six kills.

Did this for the first time in several years the other day. The Blood Elves around The Cryo-Core seem to have increased tenfold, but that hasn't increased the drop rate. Granted, RNG and all that, but it was between 20-30 kills before it dropped.

On the quest prior, I made the mistake of walking through the front of the Core, and found myself accosted by about nine irate elves. I'll never mock a back door again.

Bring Galaen's Amulet to Morae at Blood Watch.

	Galaen's Amulet (1)

Description

You have no means of identifying the corpse as Galaen with the information Morae gave you, but the clothing appears to have been torn in search of valuables.

The blood elves in the area would've claimed anything of value from the wreckage, including Galaen's jeweled amulet.

Although her husband did not survive the crash, you believe that Morae would be grateful if you recovered her husband's amulet from the blood elves.
