Both the Alphas and Whelps can be found in their greatest quantity east of Falcon Watch within the Great Fissure.

Beware of the the Crust Burster variants there. They're easy to aggro while killing Stonescythe's, and they reburrow periodically, sometimes leading to more adds.

Within the fissure, there are small hills, and rocks potruding from the salt bed. It appeared to me, that the Whelps spawn near the rocky potrusions, and the alphas on top of the hills.

Also, in the cave with Blacktalon, alpha's spawn.

there are alot of alphas in a cave at 34.63 then u dont have to go look for em. the welps are all over so their no problem

I found a bunch of Alphas at 40.73 through 37.69 just West of Gor' gaz outpost. Make sure to hug the walls of the mountain.

Fairly easy quest, I completed as a 61 warrior.

The only problem were the Tunnelers, they popped up at the worst possible times. Just make sure to watch out for them.

BTW here in this fissure is where you do the group quest called The Rock Flayer Matriarch. It is the cave in the fissure at 34,62.

Heaps of Alphas at around 39,63. And Whelps just below, in the Fissure (you can see them from there).

Tip: When fighting the both the Alpha's and the whelps and you get the "Stonescythe Alpha (or whelp) defends himself in desperation" notification, stop attacking until until the "Desperate Defense" buff goes away, otherwise they get "Desperate Rage", which is an enrage that stacks up to 5 times and increases their damage by 10 and their attack speed by 5% per application and this can stack up to 5 times, so it quickly raises their damage by 50 and attack speed by 25% if you aren't paying attention.

Fairly simple quest. IF your given good location. The guys you need are located South of the Temple of Telhamat. When you approch the Broken Hill PVP Tower you will see 2 bridges. down below them is where you will find you enemys. 36,56 Whelp's are purple and Alpa's are greenish.
Lots of Whelp's. Lots of Crust Bursters, they are everywhere in your path.

Hate that this starts at level 60 and not 58, or even 59. Guess I'll be tanking 3 or 4 HFR while I get some XP for the quests at the temple!

1. Deadly Predators
• Accept Deadly Predators from Scout Vanura at coords 23.4, 40.2 (Temple of Telhamat).
• Travel southeast to the vicinity of coords 34, 60.
• Kill 4 Stonescythe Alpha and 8 Stonescythe Whelp.
• Travel northwest to coords 23.4, 40.2, back to the Temple of Telhamat.
• Turn in the quest to Scout Vanura.

Description

The Broken that live in Outland have endured endless violence. It is of little surprise that as soon as the Dark Portal opened they flocked to it in droves with hopes of escaping this land.

Unfortunately for our confused brothers and sisters coming from the south, the rock flayers that inhabit the Great Fissure see them as easy prey. Go there and thin the rock flayer population, so that our kin might have a chance.
