Deslan the Torturer was not a pushover. Has a interruptable cast and a uninteruptable cleave that is followed by a jump w/ splash damage. With starter gear some classes may need a health pot.

Absolutely NOT a pushover. However, if you do happen to die, don't take the shortest route back when you're looking at the map. You'll be continually accosted then reach a bridge with 4 or 6 elites on it that you'll wind up taking at least 2 at a time. Take the long way around, across the 2 bridges. It will be clear when you look at the map. On the last bridge there's a patrolling elite I was able to take. At the end of the bridge there are 2 more elites. As soon as I agro'd them I hit Divine Steed (ret pally here). If you have some other similar mechanism, the two elites will go back to where they were, just don't stop running. I believe this is the same route you took when the cartel member was shielding you. Holy crap. Where's the Tylenol.

To complete this quest you need to protect Darion while he frees Alexandros.
After picking up the quest interact to Alexandros and stay your position until incoming mobs end.
After two waves of Entropic Stygia mobs Deslan the Torturer will appear so defeat it to finish the task.

When I did it, I clicked on Alexandros Mograine and a single wave of mobs came at me, about four of the Entropic Stygia, not hard to kill, but nothing appeared after that. I clicked on Alexandros Mograine again, nothing, three more times, still nothing.

Oddly enough, when I click on him, my cast bar says "Riding". I'm not sure why.

After clicking on Alexandros Mograine two more times, I abandoned the quest and retook it. That didn't seem to make a difference as the first time I clicked on him after re-taking the quest did absolutely nothing. Not even one wave came out. I walked out of the trap area, and the first wave came at me. But then, again, nothing. I stepped out of the area again and the second wave came. As soon as they died Deslan the Torturer came out but did not attack giving me time to eat and reset my abilities...and write this. I'm writing this as I'm eating to regain mana.

For me, Deslan the Torturer wasn't that difficult of a fight, but I pulled out Mirror Image and for the first half of the fight he concentrated on those things. I got Deslan the Torturer down to around 5% health and he stopped the fight, and Darion had the quest turn in marker over his head, end of the fight.

Ran into a bug where I killed Deslan and credit was "given" however the quest wasn't completed. There was no text under the quest name in my log, no instructions or greyed text. Deslan even respawned and we fought again. Had to abandon and pick the quest back up. No issues the 2nd time.

Like others i've run into a bug where the side quest list just shows the name with no objectives after defeating Deslan. If you're in a party like I was, leaving the party and restarting the quest fixed it for us. After that, we had no other issues with quests.

I will note that it took quite some time for Deslan to come back down after restarting alone. ~30ish seconds. Hope this will help anyone who quests with friends.

1 Among the Chosen	Start quest from Baroness Draka 50.3 67.7 go to Baron Vyraz 38.2 66.7
2 The Maw	Go to speak with Highlord Bolvar Fordragon He is in Oribos 40 68.2 when the conversation ends you will get new quest.
3 Seeking the Baron	Go on second level in Oribos and jump in to the Soul Pillar you will be teleported to The Maw auto finish quest
4 The Hunt for the Baron	Auto start quest You need to kill mobs to charge Amulet of the Horsemen. care on Borr-Geth you dont need to kill him but He can kill You xD. Autofinish Quest
5 A Cooling Trail	Auto Start quest. Use Amulet of the Horsemen to summon a Death Essence which will find Highlord Darion Mograine He is in cave 38 48.8
6 The Brand Holds the Key	Find The Brand's Key to open cage. Kill Brethlun the Brand to get The Brand's Key is located 35.5 44.5. Open cage and wait out side cave there will be a conversation.
7 Hope Never Dies	Use Orb of Teleportation
8 Delving Deeper	Speak with Ve'nari to start and follow Her
9 A Bond Beyond Death	Protect Darion while he frees Alexandros. last mob will be Deslan the Torturer
10 Wake of Ashes	Use portal to Escapeand go to Ve'nari 46.8 41.8
11 Maw Walker	Activate and use Waystone to Oribos 42.4 42.2 to get to Oribos and speak with Highlord Bolvar Fordragon 39.6 68.1
12 A Soul Saved	Go to the House of the Chosen in Maldraxxus and speak with Alexandros Mograine that will finish this Storyline.

Warning: it can bug out if you drop combat with vanish/ shadowmeld/ feign/ whatever else. The mobs just despawned and I had to abandon quest and start over.

OK, I am to this stage in the Maldraxxus campaign, and now I am stuck. I'm a mage (clothie) playing solo, and this one was a bit too much for me. But what was worse, I got confused and turned the wrong way from the respawn point, so I ran into a mob that killed me again... well, you can see how it goes from here. Anyway, about three respawns later, and now the "Eye of Jailer" hits me and I can't do anything. I ended having to leave the Maw totally because they were killing me at the respawn point and my gear was all demolished. How long until I can go back into the Maw to try again, and will I start at this same place? Or will have I have to go all the way back to the beginning of the chapter?

What the holy heck is up with this quest? I just did it for the first time, and while standing near Mograine, with NO mobs around, my health was rapidly depleting. I died no less than 3 times, because I took so much damage from...well...nothing...my own healing was outpaced by the amount of damage I took. Even a Lay On Hands didn't save me, I was dead less than 3 seconds after casting it.

Dying the first time on the follow up quest made it too hard for me to get back to the quest giver. Maybe better players than me can kill the baddies, but I had to abandon the quest which de-spawned most of the mobs.

My take on this: if your toon dies, give up and go switch to threads of fate unless you have some powerful friends to help you get back. Just my two coppers' worth...
