To complete this quest you need to witness memories of your past life.
There's Eternal Flame at 57.04 81.23 coordinates, approach and interact to it to start a fight.
There will appear four groups of different mobs you have to fight through to witness all the memories.

Apparently fighting the Alliance, Scourge and aiding the Zandalari is alot of stuff being done in so little time ......Lady you havent seen the half of it .

From what I can tell this quest changes based on the age of your character, I created my rogue in Wrath of the Lich King, and the creatures and dialogue referenced the scourge.

Here was my questgiver Dialogue after clicking the quest object:

<player> did not falter in the face of swarms of undead that threatened to overtake their world!

<player> remained unbent in the face of the power of Death itself.

I battled one of the big undead hulks, and 4 death knight on horseback. Cool detail from the game devs.

I think which fights you get may be somewhat random. I've been around since just post-launch, and on my current realm since early WotLK. For fights I got:
-"fought in the name of Azeroth itself!" (fought some rock spiders and a slime)
-"lent their aid to the peaceful people of Pandaria in their time of need" (fought some mogu folks)
-"joined the noble alliance in combat against the Horde!" (fought some random horde npcs)

I present The Aspirant's Crucible part of The Path to Ascension Storyline Quest Chain in Bastion

Quest Name:	Start and description
1. The Aspirant's Crucible	Ride Theonara 48 74.1
2. A Life of Service	Press on The Eternal Flame 57 81.3 then kill 3 waves of mobs. To call new wave use The Eternal Flame.
3. A Forge Gone Cold	Speak to Sika 52.7 82.6
4. The Cycle of Anima: Etherwyrms	Collect 25 Glowing Viscera dropping from Languishing Etherwyrm or Starved Etherwyrm. This quest can be done in same time with The Cycle of Anima: Flower Power and The Cycle of Anima: Drought Conditions.
5. The Cycle of Anima: Flower Power	collect 6 The Cycle of Anima: Flower Power from big flowers from ground.
6. The Cycle of Anima: Drought Conditions	Activate and defend Anima Extractor 55 79.5. after you will kill Ravenous Etherwyrm pick up Condensed Anima Mote is on mid in Anima Extractor.
7. Light the Forge, Forgelite	Just follow NPC but don't forget to pick up Raw Materials and drop in to Basin. Then clean 2 Anima Forge Vent then Tidy up 5 elements inside forge
8. The Work of One's Hands	Speak to Sika next to forge then use 5 raw material then open a vent. Now the hardest think xD you need to keep the heat ( i throw 10 raw materials and when Sika call that is to hot i use only 1 vent then i throw more raw material and that work xD ). At the end you need to help pressing on Armor.
9. The True Crucible Awaits	Speak with Kleia 51.8 81
10. Assessing Your Stamina	You need to Sparring with Aspirant 8 times just speak with them and they will attack you. You can do this quest together with Assessing Your Strength
11. Assessing Your Strength	You need to Defeat the 3 Praetorian Sparring Assistants: Archilon 50.6 81.7, Straticus 50.2 80.6, Epilon 50.4 79.3.
12. Assessing Your Spirit	You will challange Athanos you will lose but that normal xD.
13. The Chamber of First Reflection	Speak with Kleia She is inside chamber 57.2 86.6.
14. The First Cleansing	Pick up 3 item from left chamber ( one of them is to take bathe in pool use extra skill to activate ) then back to Kleia speak with Her and go to right chamber to activate 3 Soul Mirror one by one and every activation you will need to kill mobs. after finish with last mirror move out from chamber to speak with Kleia.
15. The Archon's Answer	Speak with Kalisthene 53.5 87.2
16. All An Aspirant Can Do	Go to Kleia She is behind bridge 48.3 72.9.

Tip: You have to click the fountain at the base of the Eternal Watcher to get a new wave of mobs.

Apparently if you have to (As Alliance) Fight the horde + burning legion in final wave. You can spare the horde and just kill the other enemies. I had one horde left standing they went yellow and quest completed. Not sure if there is anything special if you can spare all the horde.

Here are the memories I got:

"<Name> lent their aid to the Kul Tirans in a bloody conflict."
Fighting against Champions of the Zandalari and Champions of the Horde

"<Name> stood beside the draenei of Draenor to face the cruel industry of the Iron Horde"
Fighting against Iron Horde Assailants, mobs in Blackrock gear with guns.

"<Name joined the noble Alliance in combat against the Horde!"
The mobs are Champions of the Horde.
There seem to be a lot of different possibilites, from every expansion.

My demon huntress did get fighting Aliance during BfA, than Scourge and then Aliance again...

No burning legion... I'm kinda pissed about that. That was her singular purpose for @#$%s sake!

I've done this many times and always the enemy is fighting my allies and I can join in. Except this last time on the third wave all the enemies appeared in front of me at the fountain. I was surprised and got slaughtered.

Description

We are all eager to see what deeds brought you to us. Simply approach the dais before you and gaze into the flame. The Watcher will pull forth your memories of those you served in life, and you will be transported back to those moments to aid them once more.
