Explosives are placed on the ship's hull- below the water surface. Once you have rigged them you get a trigger (icon is beside the quest), you can use once you are at a safe distance (back to the strand and a few feet further).

There is currently a bug with this quest.

If your inventory is full when you place the last explosive, you will not receive the detonator to complete the quest.
Until this is fixed you need to make sure there is at least one free slot before you place the 3rd explosive.

If you are too close to the ship, you'll get a message saying "You can't do that at this time." Just walk further up on the shore.

Once you placed all 3 mines, go to /way 57.38 72.08 and CLICK THE DETONATOR FROM YOUR BAGS not from the objective watchframe.

Two of places where you need to place charges are on the side of the ship not facing your shoreline. You're gonna get wet possibly.

The distance you have to be away seems buggy, i actually dropped the quest and redid it thinking this is bugged.... When i then went to the quest handin i clicked it again and it worked, so it seems you have to be way further away than any other of this type of quest in the game.
It does work and the "have to click from bag" issue mentioned above has been solved, you can click from the quest itself.... just VERY far away.

Find the Gilnean Heavy Explosives quest in front of the big ship. It's on a rowboat.

If you can't find them, it's probably because your inventory was full! So... reset quest and try again with bagspace >_>

If you look closely, you can see Greymane jumping the ship after the detonation.

The explosives are not in the ship, they are on the outside of the hull underwater.

Plant 3 Gilnean Heavy Explosives onto the hull of Greymane's ship and detonate them at a safe distance.

Description

It looks like the Gilnean infiltrators brought some heavy ordnance to the fight. It's likely they intend to use them on the walls of Dreadwake's Landing. If these could be rigged to Greymane's ship, it could make for a decisive end to his assault on the outpost.
