In case anyone was wondering, this mob seems to have changed genders as of the world shattering.

The old quest text for HER:
In northern Winterspring, great cats assemble around a large landmark called Frostsaber Rock. The leader of these cats is known by the name Shy-Rotam. Defeating the matriarch of the frostsabers would grant you much respect in the eyes of your fellow <race>.

Go again to the harsh wilds, and once there, gather sacred meat from the frostsabers. Find the stone of Shy-Rotam, and place it there. Placing the meat of her kin before her will summon Shy-Rotam, in anger.

Be ready for her fury, and defeat her.

The quest: Rampaging Giants still references Shy-Rotam as female. It says at the bottom "Prove your loyalty to the frostsabers; kill these giants in the name of the frostsaber queen, Shy-Rotam!"

She still roars for her mate, but Sian-Rotam no longer comes.

im trying to get her to call sian-rotam so i can tame him on my hunter.
i am on this quest but she does not call her mate at all :( been at it for over an hour now. and another hour without the quest in my log and its the same. got a ticket open to see if i can get some confirmation as to whether it is still bugged or not.

*edit*
just had a repsonse from gm stating that it is bugged and the dev team are looking into it but there are no plans to remove sian-rotam from game. so just need to be patient i guess.

Sian-Rotam was around this weekend - I saw him twice, sleeping under the rock behind Shy-Rotam, and killed him twice. He unfortunately only dropped vendor trash, although he was listed as a Rare (and had the silver wreath around his portrait).

Killing him was a bit dicey the first time, since I did not pull him far enough away and Shy-Rotam respawned very quickly so I had to fight both at once.

tamed both Shy- and Siam-Rotam today. Siam is now laying on the floor next to the rock, he is now longer "summoned" by her.

Attention transmoggers! If you're a high level merely after one of the items above for a mog set (I was after Shy Breastplate, for example), you do NOT have to start at the very beginning of this chain. You can start on Fresh Frostsabers.

I noticed the quest when going after two pieces from quest NPCs near this one, but didn't think it through and ignored this one. I could have saved myself the travel time and the annoyance of going into a barrow-den for the beginning few segments...

Description

Time for the big kill, pal! Shy-Rotam lurks in the north, the largest frostsaber of them all.

You should feel honored. There's no fiercer game for a hunter to match their skills against... and if you saw the cash I'm being offered by gourmands that want a piece of this fellow, your eyes would pop out!

Once you've got her, head on back to camp. Don't want to totally exhaust our frostsaber population in one day...
