Soloed this as a LvL 8 rogue. Just hug the walls, stealth and you should be okay. However don't miss the chance to grind your way through for some nice XP.

And add that they respawn very quickly, so running away and living is nearly impossible. All in all, it's pretty annoying.

It is actually relatively simple if you know how to do it. As soon as you go in the cave you can either go to the left or right. Pick the left path; it will lead you to a ledge. Jump down and head towards the right. At exactly 22,52 the quest should be completed.

I refuse to do these quests the runback from the GY is a joke and at level 7 you just don't have enough firepower to wander in the cave I level faster just grinding at low levels rather than a 4 minute runback to die again in the cave,

They where hitting me for about 10-13 instead of the 6-8 from the surrounding animals of equal level, in most cases I came away from killing a single troll with only 10-20% life left...And lets not even talk about aggro range !_!

This is one of those quests that make me think "What if I was someone who had just started playing the game and this was his first ever char" Not exactly the best way to "wow" new customers.

This quest is very annoying to do aggro range = huge, damage from trolls = huge, and they spawn fast. Also the run back is long and annoying

this quest is just unbeliveably stypid. its amazing how hard it is to get the 5 headhunters cause they are never there and then its stupid that the hold havent 1 spot you can find it at. searched now for 3 hours and havent still found it no matter how many comments i've followed.. a complete waste of time

this quest might be one of the most annoying in all of azzeroth...
as a lvl 8 rogue i went into the cave stealthed. i went right at the first fork and jumped off the ledge. i then proceeded to continue to the back of the cave. there was a narrow passage and i couldnt make it through without being detected. the troll saw and attacked me i died. my first death.
then i resuredted at the very back of the cave where there was a chest. i attempted to get it but the shadowcaster saw me and killed me. my second death. then i rezzed once more and tried again this time trin to kill the shadowcaster before i got the chest. no luck i got him to about 5% and died
i then rezzed for the fourth time and was forced to hearth out... i died once more later when i tried killing the headhunters i attacked one and about 5 came and killed me after i killed the headhunter.
this quest was 6 deaths for a lvl 8 rogue i can only immagin how bad it must have been for cloth wearers...
blizzard should get rid of this quest.

I didn't bother to kill the trolls inside the cave. I just killed 5 headhunters in the shimmer ridge during the quest where you had to get shimmerweed and just ran through the cave. Died 3 times.

Lvl 9 Warlock just did this quest.. Follow nukedoom's instructions above. No problem with the Aggro aura. I faught 2 at once, 2 times. Feared one and killed the other. Anyone with Stealth or a pet can do this easily. Good Luck!

Funny that you should say this. Today was my first time ever playing WoW.

It's refreshing to know that most of the quests aren't as annoying as this one is. I found the difficulty of this particular dungeon to greatly contrast with it's surroundings. The enemies are stronger, more aggressive, and smarter. Playing as a dwarf hunter, I died twice around level 6. I think most people who have never done this quest will go in unprepared.

I found the dungeon to be far enough into the game that the player will know how to play the game (what attacks and spells to use, what the controls do, etc.) but a little early for something this challenging. Are we supposed to team up with other players this early in the game? Or is this just a way to push people into leveling up? Either way, I'm not going back until I have some back up; either another player, or a pet bear.

Hey, Wow is multiplayer game! If you can't do it alone, call friends. Yes, this is a hard quest - for a 1 ppl. But for 2-3 ppl - its easy.

This was my first account and time through the Hold and I didn't find it all that hard. I used a level 9 Mage without any special gear.

Conjure a ton of food and drink before you go in, at least 20 of each. Apply buffs and head in. Get a single troll within the very edge of your Frostbolt and then unleash Frostbolt, Fireball, Arcane Missiles, Fireball, and then what ever you need to clean up. If they try to run away, pop them with a Fire Blast. Rinse and repeat with next troll stopping to eat and drink when ever you need to. If you pull an extra troll, Polymorph the extra and finish off the first.

You don't race through the Hold but I even killed the level 11 guy with the silver dragon around his picture.

And there is a much closer graveyard now.

I remember doing this quest waaay back on my first toon, a gnome Warlock. I walked into the cave, but all of a sudden the loading screen came up. I ended up in the entrance cave of a level 60 AV that was about to start! Battlegrounds had just been released and I had no clue what was going on since I was only around level 9 at the time. I had to get my irl friend, a level 60 Mage to rescue me.

u can do the fully explore by running in naked dieing running back rez ahead and then keep on running 2 get fully explore frostmane hold

I had no problems with my level 8 mage. I made sure I had lots of mana potions and just picked them off one by one. It took longer than it would have if I had gone in with a group, but it wasn't that hard.

Agreed w/ those who thought this challenging. I just dinged 8 as a mage, so all I had with frostbolt firebolt and the fire instant cast. i died about 4x before getting the explored. Three factors make this an usually tough quest for the level
1) Humanoid mobs, closely packed - they run away and bring friends typicaly
2) Ranged and melee attack
3) Huge aggro radius
4) Lots of damage

Usually i would finish one, drink 2x, repeat. Pulls have to be extremely careful. Plus lots of pats. Not to mention the long run to and from the questgiver.

So...if you find this one hard, wait a few levels or skip it. There is a 11 elite there, but he owned me as a weakly level 8.

This quest was tough on my prot pally. Sometimes I wouldn't dodge or parry an attack and I'd get hit for 1-2 damage. Even though I could 1 shot everything I had a difficult time clearing all the troggs.

This is the most anoying and the HARDEST quest ever -.- i was a lvl 7 mage when i started , i went into the cave being stealthy and going around the mobs at the huts , maybe a few mobs will atack u but no matter , i went in then and attacked a Headhunter ..i died i went in as a ghost and quickly resed and ran into the cave and got to about 50% of the cave and died ... then i went in agan as a ghost and got to the ledge there was some Great Father Arktics a rare mob and i resed there and didnt get Explore then i died ... i had like 130 hp with less than 100 armor OMG i got all items on durabilty 0 and i tried to get Explore as a ghost and still dint get it .. after a few hours i killed 5 Headhunters HOORAY =) but i didnt get Explore i dont get that -.- was lvl 9 when i killled the 5 headhunters ..so DONT DO THIS QUEST!

Best to do before lvl 10.
As soon as you kill 5 headhunters, just run trough the cave like Nukedoom said:

When you explore, you can die, you simply res at the spirit healer (no penalty as you're lvl <10) that's much now. Return the quest and whoopetydoop.

Correction, I finally completed the quest for the exploring bit at 23.52.
I walked around most of the cave and couldn't find it, my carbonite was even wrong which is unusual. I suppose it varies from place to place?

Hmmm, made a toon and went to go in to the cave to kill the Headhunters for the quest I have and there are none. Is this quest a joke, how do you do it if there are no headhunters or the cave is blocked off? :(

A little awkward to try to get this quest, since it seems you can't, as it's also the only quest in Dun Morogh that has a shield as a possible quest reward... A shame for warriors and paladins (since shaman start with one).

Description

I'm behind on my report, and could use your help, <name>. I just managed to find where the trolls are holed up, but I saw so many trolls, I was afraid to go in.

Here's what I need... Go down to the cave, poke around inside, kill a few of the trolls, then come back here.

Take the road north out of Kharanos, when you get to the bridge, follow the frozen river west until you reach Iceflow Lake. You'll find Brewnall Village on the west bank. The Hold is southwest of the village.
