I am unable to get this quest. After I completed Burnside must fall (the previous quest), the two questgivers despawned. This also happened in Silverpine towards the end. Anyone have an idea on how to fix this?

you must go back to the area with your "inkeeper" you warden will be there. just stand there till you get attacked. then kill the big nasty beast :D

Kinda sucks as a rogue for rewards.
You get the choice of a nice agility dagger, or a nice agility cloak.
Very rare that you ever get a choice of quest rewards where two are a nice upgrade, you can use both at once (ie, not a choice between a spellpower 1 hander and a spellpower staff) and you can only take one.
I know most people will be using heirloom items and won't care - just a minor annoyance for anyone doing without :)

For those having difficulty picking this quest up after completing Burnside Must Fall, I ran out of the area after completing that quest, dismounted and ran back in, which seemed to "reset" the NPCs.
After chatting to a GM about it, I think what caused the issue for me was mounting too quickly, and for some reason this caused the NPCs to vanish. The key definitely seems to be mounting/dismounting.

Bug ticket submitted a few weeks ago.

Make your way to the following coords: 36,61 where the warden is. He immediately will start chatting nonsense and the fight will start. Once you defeat him, you will get his head and then turn in the quest.

When he changed form, I got booted over the wall out of the area. As a result, when I returned, the blood elf and the apothecary were not there to help me finish him off and he killed me. I figured that his form change was supposed to kill them leaving me to finish the kill. But, now I realize they disappeared because I left the area. I respawned and ran back to Stillwater who was reset and the blood elf and apothecary respawned. The second time I fought him I did not get booted over the wall and, of course, my helpers stayed through the fight.

When you approach Warden Stillwater this is the dialogue that follows...

Warden Stillwater says: Lydon! Alive?

while he is talking go behind him and make sure your back faces the building. When he changes you go flying and hit the building preventing the whole thing from resetting.

For some reason, I completed the quest and got the XP and rep, but it never offered me the ring/cloak/dagger rewards to choose from. I came here to see if it's a known bug, but no one else has mentioned it. Will update if I get more info.

Don't bother killing the adds or anything. Just focus Warden Stillwater and get him low to where he transforms into his second form. While he charges and knocks you into the air (make sure your back is to the building) he also wipes out the adds.

so if anyone is having problems with dieing and rezing but lydon and jenny dont respawn, i did the following for it to work:
- leave the sludge fields
- dismount
- walk into any gate

the 2 should respawn. this guy still does the knockback which can kill you if yer low when you land.

As a lvl 42 Frost Mage, I polymorphed the Warden and then killed everyone else first. By the time I killed him, both NPCs that were helping me were dead and I had 17% health left. This is stupidly difficult solo. If you can, bring a friend.

This quest is such bull!@#$. You can't stun him because the other NPCs will attack him. You can't attack him head on because he'll tear you to shreds and the other NPCs just kill the minor mobs. If you DO somehow get past the first "phase", everyone on the map disappears and leaves you all alone, including anything you had summoned to help you and he kills you in just a few seconds.

It occurs to me that if blizz weren't so worried about whether we had phones or not that they might actually FIX this crap.

Somethings wrong if the warden is hitting you for 380 (10% of my hp) and Lydon heals you for 2

Killed him as a frost mage.

Wait for RP to finish, then sheep the Warden, then kill all his men. You may need to sheep the Warden a few times to get this done.

Once all the adds are down, head next to the inn doorway and attack the Warden, once he 'explodes' you should be pushed into the inn with no fall damage.

Now from inside the inn attack the Warden (whom should be outside the inn), and keep Ice Barrier up.

If all goes well your NPC friend should keep aggro on the Warden while you DPS him down.

As a 26 Shadow Priest I kept being owned by this guy but I combined a few suggestions from the comments along with some other changes and was able to get through.

Firstly, I went into the building behind. This meant that when Warden Stillwater becomes the beast, you don't get thrown over the walls.

Secondly, I stopped running away when health got low. Just stand your ground so you can continue to do damage. Even if health gets low, just stand there and keep dishing it out.

When Stillwater becomes the big creature he will run away so you will have time to heal and recuperate for a moment before you finish him off.

I died 4 times before it worked this way. Good luck!

March 2020 and the balancing of this quest is still completely broken. I guess we should hope the level squish in SL will maybe fix this, though I won't be there to see it as I'm leveling my 50th character right now.

due to bad scaling this quest can be rly bad,after few attempts i can say best way is to:
-phase first-focus only warden
-phase two-try to kite him or hit and run until u get heal
this way it worked for me finally ;) gl!

The fight begins with a regular Warden Stillwater, normal size, etc. Focus him, leave his adds to the NPCs.
When he is about to die, Stillwater will become huge and gets around 19k HP (I do this with lvl 52) and hits pretty hard.
Be careful to dodge the poison bombs he will drop in your direction, they hurt bad. Stay away from the poison fog, run around him but not too far to avoid reset.
You get a bit of healing from the Apothecary Lydon but not much, so patience and care. You will get him down :)

L35 Warrior: I went thru about 5 kills. I got behind him and backed into the inn so I could use my distant tactics (throw, charge). Then ordinary fighting reduced him to the point that he blasts. I backed toward the inn again, but he got me. I revived and when we went back into the yard he was there as the beast and all his adds were gone. The three of us took him down, gave the head to the apothecary and Bob's your uncle. Solved but still not one of my fave quests

Jesus christ what is it with those horribly scaled quests lmao definitely not looking forward to doing these on my alts

Arcane Mage 61, did as the mage posts suggested and polymorphed the Warden (after kiting him a bit away from the ads since Lydon's puddle breaks polymorph), then killed all ads, kept Lydon as a sheep for a while longer to get healed up and prepare for his big phase, stood in the doorway of the inn and just nuked the Warden down to about ~13% (while using shield inbetween). when he hit about 13% i used frostblock so you will not be moved AT ALL and stay in place. After that its blinking and running around the boss while trying to do as much dmg as you can

I just completed this quest as an assassination rogue in heirloom gear with some random auction house items and enchatments at level 54, I used the comments here to stand behind the Warden with my back towards the building. As he was down to about 25% he bumps you and "respawns" as another elite. I got bumped into the building, so ironically I was out of the AOE attacks and as a rogue all I could do is throw my knife. The two group npc's were able to take him down to 25% again and dropped down to finish the job.

For those struggling on this, I would try to come back as the next level and check if it's any easier. When I tried this at level 52, it was extremely tough, then at 53, became a challenge but no way as hard. I suspect that maybe Blizzard throws you off, by making this quest hard at one level then drops the level as you level up. At 52, my "healer" was dropping 2hp per cast, so there had to been some strange issues. These group npc quests all feel the same, when you are first given the quest, it's almost impossible, then after a few levels, they become much easier.

DO NOT MOUNT UP

Have done this quest multiple times over several months and the only way I can get the NPC's Apothecary Lydon and Jonhny Awesome to remain with me is to avoid any kind of mount. Once you kill Magistrate Burnside WALK back to Warden Stillwater, hand in the quest and both of them should still be with you.
