You do not need to stop moving to collect the Energized Charges, you can keep moving and right click them as you are near.

Am I missing something here? Everything I read (little that I can find) is that you can right-click the orbs as they fall to pick up the charge... this isn't happening.

I either run too far, get no buff, or stay slightly close and get the charge while being blown off of the ledge.

any help would be much appreciated.

This is part of a quest chain in which the player aids Kalecgos (the new blue dragon aspect) in finding Azuregos and protecting him from the black dragonflight. It spans much of the land of Azshara and is composed of many quests, several of which are completely original in their concepts.

I messed up the quest so when i got to the top i didnt have all the charges. So i jumped down to do it again and i died. So I thought if i abandoned the quest i could get it to start again. But the quest giver doesn't give it again. Does anyone know how i can continue with Watch Your Step again.

I thought the conduits were the falling orbs so i ran to them.

Its not, the conduits are stationary on some of the platform between where you land and where u take off, hope that helps others like me stupid enough not to read and understand the questtext ;)

If anyone is finding this quest tricky and plays zoomed in, I recommend zooming out. I usually play zoomed in quite close, and really struggled with this quest. Then I zoomed out quite far and completed it first try.

Urgh. Just what WoW DOES NOT need. MORE STUPID MINI-GAMES. I don't care if you want stuff like this that is purely OPTIONAL from regular questing. But requiring it in order to complete NORMAL quests is STUPID.

If you happen to fall off at the right location, you can get the achievement 'Going Down'. I believe it was the 4th or 5th jump that knocked me back and earned me the achievement.

Get 6 stacks of energy at the first stop. Keep them at 6. Turn and face the mountain every time you jump.

If you have a flying mount - you can just just keep clicking the Energy Conduits next to Xylem until 6 stacks and just fly up :D

This quest pisses me off so damned much. Even using keyboard moving, it's NOT easy to angle yourself just right to catch the propulsion platforms to keep from being blown off, much goddamned less actually click the stupid energy conduits as you go by. It would be bad e-effing-nough to just have to keep the energy going, without having to avoid the stupid explosions as well.

I totally agree with jtp756. Whoever designed this quest should have those explosions directly under their ass.

There is a little cheat in this quest the Energy Conduit next to Image of Archmage Xylem at the beginning of the quest can be clicked on multiple times and you won't get blown off. All you need to do is click the first one six of times and all you need to do is refresh the buff by touching the other ones.

I've tried it at least half a dozen times, if not MORE, and that was doing it Isoba's way! This is an absolutely ridiculous quest, especially to be a key quest in a quest chain.

It took me about five tries to finally get the hang of this. First off, do as other posters have suggested and pick up all six charges right off the bat. Keep moving and just right click the other posts as you pass by them. As you come up to the jump pads pause next to or on them, it takes them just a sec to activate. When you land you are facing the right direction so just move as soon as you land. If you can keep your cool you'll get it quickly. Mind if you're doing it for rep and have a flying mount, by all means, just pick up your six charges right on the beginning stand and fly up to the top.

Easy instructions:

1. Click the Energy Conduit that is next to the quest giver until you stack 6 times.

2. Run and don't slow down until you hit a launching circle. When you see another energy conduit, right click it before you reach it. DO NOT SLOW DOWN. Click it while running. (I used my UP arrow with my left hand while using my mouse to right click it)

ok... maybe with updates there is now a glitch with this game? I have tried (as I read in previous posts) clicking on the starting point charger to get six charges....but it won't stack... plus I HAVE made it to the top... but only with one charge... and I DID click on all of them on the way up while trying it the "old school" way... I am lvl 85 so can fly... but the DAMN things won't stack... I think I officially hate this quest... lol If I didn't need it for achievements I could care less... someone pls help!

Twice I missed one of the orbs...tho I clicked on it it evidently didn't take...but I made it to the top anyway. Once there, I couldn't complete the quest...and there was no way to leave the pinnacle alive for a level 15 that I could find other than hearthing out.

Spent 3 hours on this and threw my mouse across the f^!*ing room. -_- ABANDONED. I'm spending time on WoW as anger management/self medication/therapy, and I do not need a supposedly fun game adding to my already stratospheric stress level.

*coughs* That said I followed everyone's advice. EVERYONE's. I saved this entire webpage and dissected every tip to figure out WTF I was doing wrong. I even slapped a haste potion on myself as a last resort. Did. Not. Work.

Surely the most frustrating quest in the entire game! I gave up on it eventually until I read about the appearance changing hat reward at the end of the quest chain (Farewell, Minnow), and decided to go back and have another go. It was entirely as annoying as I remembered it, if not worse! Then I had a brainwave.

These days I have a flying mount. I charged up 6 times at the first energy thingy, then flew to the top, landed, and there was the little yellow question mark to welcome me! :D (It didn't turn yellow until I actually landed.)

Of course if you're doing this quest at flying level, like me, you're probably not doing it for the xp. I'm really sorry this tip is unlikely to help the people who really need it, but hope it comes in handy for someone!

The key I found on this is to keep moving. Click the orb while your moving so the green orbs falling down don't get you and helps with the timing.

I tried to do this quest about 5 times in a row before I said "ef" it and logged off. I came back a few hours later and googled the quest. After reading a few suggestions most people said to just keep moving while doing it. I logged back on and just ran through it like forest gump. I fell the first time but the second time I made it! All I can say is "Run forest, run!"

Just tried the quest again now that I have flying .. clicked 6 times at the start and flew straight up, landed and completed the quest -- I had tried dozens of times when I was low level to no avail. Thanks for the tips.

The hands-down best advice I read for NON FLYERS was Face toward the mountain before you get the jump. I kept falling off before I did that. Once I reoriented before each jump, it took only one try. Don't give up, just face toward the mountain. Cake!

To those saying that you need to angle yourself before hitting the jump pad, RemusCDLupin is correct. When you land, you are angled correctly, no matter which direction you were running in before. The trick is to ignore the impulse to correct the angle at which you were running before the jump, and instead run straight ahead to your target.

Okay... this one took me a while. The biggest problem I had was that the final jump pad that takes you to the top is hidden in the bushes. Several times I got up there I ran around looking for it (or another way up) but got knocked off before I found it. Finally I found it totally by accident. Submitting a screenshot from above in case that helps anyone. Other that that, just keep running toward the next jump pad and click the conduits on the way, don't stop, you can click them while you are running. I made that mistake a couple of times too. Once I figured that out and found the last jump pad, everything was golden.

If you have a flying mount click on the energy conduit next to quest giver Image of Archmage Xylem. Do this rapidly until you have 6 stacks of the energy conduit (seen top right hand corner of screen). Then, without having to jump on all the conduits individually, you simply fly to the top of the mountain and turn in the quest.

I didn't know about the hat before the toybox came out, so i got on my level 90 horde alt to give it a shot. I swear, I tried it the right way 8 times before I gave up, and used my flying mount. I just wanted to offer a HUGE thanks to everyone who mentioned it, and to Wowhead for being here. This finally worked for me: use keyboard controls for moving and mouse for clicking energy sources - this will keep you ahead of the "green kicker". I believe this goes way back to the old WoW keyboard that revealed all of the game control functions. I used A for left, D for right, W for forward; took a little drill, but got me to the top on second attempt. Good luck!

Get 6 stacks of charges from the conduit right next to Xylem, then just make sure you're facing the mountain before you step into each jump pad. Got it in one!

When they first added this quet it as buggy as all Hell, and getting knocked off by a blast could even kill you (fall damage) as you'd sometimes land on the base of the rock instead of the water. This issue appears to have been fixed - but just to be saf, take a few Goblin Glider's with you.

In addition to saving you if you'd about to die, you can steer them back to the path and continue up without penalty :P

These old crappy stupid quests that survived 14 years are only made worse by all the damn leveling nerfs. Compound it by the fact that I completed these zones prior to achievements (so I feel obligated to slog through these bugged, stupid quests) make me HATE THIS GAME.

The whole "grab six charges thing run to the top" thing no longer works. At the top, he just scolds you and tells you that's not how its done so yeah, you have to manually grab every charge as you run up.

Can't say if flying works or not, as I don't have a flying mount yet, but I'm gonna bet that it probably won't either. My guess is that they added hidden flags to make sure you grab every charge and use every portal.

Flying DOES work. All you have to do is to simply click all the 6 conduits all the way up to the mountain (you can see your Energized buff stacks number).

Note that some ledges do not have conduits and you can skip them while using a flying mount. Once you have 6 stacks of Energized fly up to the top of the mountain and the quest will be completed.

Gaining 6 stacks using only one conduit seems that doesn't work anymore, must click 6 individuals .

If you fail the first time like I did and got the top without the 6 stack buff on you... there's no easy way down to the initial starting point. Jump off and land in the water, near the south side of the island there is a little circle on the ground that if you walk into will bounce you back up to the starting point.

From there you can follow all the advice that's been provided here about clicking the first conduit 6 times and just refreshing it on the way!

Tip one: Do not stop moving. Land on each platform, click each pylon, and stand on each circle without pausing, and you won't get hit.
Tip two: If you land at the top with five (or fewer) stacks, just quickly jump down to the last platform (it's close enough you won't die) and click that pylon again. No need to start completely over. Just remember not to hover on that platform too long, so you don't get knocked off.

And, while you’re at it, also fix the thousands of bugs that are pestering us along the way, for years. By doing that you would grant us a pleasant leveling experience.

Only the first jump-pad works atm, meaning your journey in Azshara ends here if you don't have flying to get to the top.

Watch Your Step

Receive 6 Energized charges from the Energy Conduits as you ascend to the top of the Arcane Pinnacle.

Description

This is somewhat simple and somewhat not simple. All the way up there are Energy Conduits. Rather like this one right here one might say! Indeed, I do say.

Now for you. You must use my jump pads to ascend the pinnacle, and you must touch all of the conduits you see along the way. When you get to me at the top, you should be all juicy with energy, because really that's the only way to be.

And be sure to keep moving or you're likely to be sent for quite a trip!
