The Shadowy Tormentors are spread out around the town, so it's unlikely you'll get more than 1 at a time unless you're trying to do so.

To exit the World of Shadow's, find the icon at the top of your screen and right click on it.

However, don't stand in the middle of hte center area, or you'll reappear in the bonfire :)

as of patch 3.0.3 this quest has a minor bug, if you alt tab with the buff the quest giver gives youll tab back in with a rather messed up graphical blur all over your screen. to remove this, remove the buff and relog to fix it.

OBS - You CAN'T be in a raid when doing this !

I was in a raid to do the 'For the horde' but had to quit to get even a single one slain !

As of 3.0.8, it appears the 'event' of the Lich King taunting you in the beta is working again. He rides in on a frostbrood slayer, lands in the middle of town, and explains why the demons are haunting Koltira.

blizz needs to fix a small problem with this quest.

the frequency it takes the lich king to show up, is 20 min.

that's a serious problem, cause for non-suspecting players, they go to the realm of shadows, kill the mobs, and leave the realm of shadows without even realizing what they just missed.

I took the quest, killed 3 mobs, and then realized that the lich king was there, since I missed the first chunk of dialoge, I simply said "I'll do the quest again" so I right-clicked the buff, abandoned the quest, talked to koltira, got the quest and buff again, and killed the mobs and guess what?

the buff lasts 10 min, and I waited those whole 10 min for the lich king to show up and nothing, so I talk to koltira again, got the buff again, and waited another 10 min for him to show up, and he showed up when the buff had only 10 secs, thus I again watched the whole thing incomplete.

I didn't turned the quest, and did some other stuff while I waited 15 min to pass, then I took the quest again, and voila, 5 min later he shows up.

this confirms that the lich king shows up 1 every 20 minutes, and this is a serious mistake, since nobody will spend 20 min on this quest, so there is a high chance that many plp will miss the dialoge if they enter the realm of shadows after arthas has just left.

hopefully they'll fix it in a future patch.

I did this quest this am - was in realm of shadows for about 10 minutes (if that) and got the Lich King event twice. They appear to have fixed the timing issue on it, either that or its random.

I decided to check this little Lich King event out... and I had WoW running, waiting for the event for about an hour, going back into the World of Shadows whenever the buff ran out. Naturally, in the meantime I was doing other stuff, but not once did the Lich King show up during that hour. I'm really confused now.

I just now did it, was in the shadows for about 6 minutes, Arthas didn't show up, so...it at least doesn't happen THAT often.

more, when i talk to her, she says "Leave me alone, foul!"

Has anyone ever seen this on the European Servers? I'm playing on a German server with the English client and probably spend much more than half an hour in the shadow world now (get daggers on 370, maces and 374 and unarmed on 343 ... 344 ... 345 now ... as a Moonkin druid, haha ;-) ).

Also tried with/without addons and a couple of other things. But maybe this really is totally random (or not simply not available in certain configurations).

I find it rather annoying to know that this exists but not really get to see it. Well, I guess I'll probably give up soon ;-)

I have done this quest on 6 different characters, and the only time I saw the Lich King's appearance was when I ran it with my Death Knight. Perhaps that's the trigger?

After you kill your 6th Shadowy Tormentor, wait couple seconds before going out of the shadow world and he will show up. im betting the times that you saw it was because someone had just finished the quest.

Does anyone knows a way to activate the graphical features of the World of Shadows at will? I think it looks pretty cool and I might like to play with it enabled sometimes.

Eh, been waiting for Arthas for about an hour now in vain.
Got the quest, killed the tormentors, stayed there waiting until the time ran out, nothing. Abandoned the quest twice to get a do-over, nothing. I keep asking Koltira to let me back for yet another 10min, but only the respawning tormentors keep me company. This is hopeless.

I couldn't find anything at the question mark, so I checked this page. I found out about cancelling the buff, and then I found out about the Lich King delivering a message. So I've been sitting here, waiting for him to show up for about, oh, 30 minutes or so.

So, in case you're ever wondering if blizzard "fixed" this, they didn't.

If you'd like to listen to what the Lich King says without waiting for him to spawn, you can no longer quite do what Exosion suggests. The following is the equivalent since Blizzard changed how you play sound files:

Description

While you have done much for me, one task remains.

Beside the world you know exists another world. It is from that world, the world of shadows, that my tormentors assault me. While I am powerless to face my own demons, you could end their reign of terror. You have the strength, I have seen it with my own eyes.

Enter the world of shadows and face the demons that torment me!

Do this and I will translate the tome, as promised.
